The Oaksmere is a delightful setting with a very attractive and comfortable restaurant. The service is very friendly and helpful, although some staff are somewhat experience. Our food was disappoointing, and definitley not as good as it has been on prevous occasions dining here. The cheese souffle starter was very poor quality, hardly discernible cheese flavour and over heavy and doughy. The venison wellington main was OK with a tasty outer coating and good tender venison in the centre, and more than adequate in quantity. It was lined with mediocre and unnecessary bacon, and the accompnying vegetables were good quality and well cooked but disappointing in their plainness. With a moderate amount of wine included, at £70 a head unfortunately the Oaksmere is not good value for money when the quality of the food is taken into account. Despite being our nearest supposedly 'quality' restaurant we will not be rushing back.

We ate two nights in the restaurant. The menu may be a little limited and the nights specials did not change but the food was very good quality. It was tasty, well cooked and hot. The eventual bill was a pleasant surprise being quite economical for what we had. A major advantage of this restaurant is the staff. All we friendly and attentive and obliging to our needs. Thoroughly recommend it.
