The best restaurants serving British food in Wickham Bishops and Woodham Maldon East of England

7 of us descended on this building for lunch and were warmly greeted by our lovely waitress, who made us feel very welcome. Tables were repositioned & cleaned , chairs moved, menus provided and adequate time allowed for us to settle and make our choices. 5 adults & 2 children all with various requests ranging from ham egg & chips, sandwiches, scrambled eggs on toast and jacket potatoes. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food, and the cups of tea's & coffee's. Prices were fair and we all said we would return.

After having waited 50 minutes for a light lunch, we chased up our order, then waited for another 15 minutes. It arrived, dried up with a dry salad, sauces which we requested but you couldn't get in to. We did make our complaint known and were given a 50% refund. Very polite, but we remained pretty well under. The shelves nearby were covered in dust and the place was generally unclean. To be fair, the staff were apologetic and pleasant.

Came here last night for a pre-Christmas meal after having been impressed when we visited back in the middle of summer. The menu was spot on, nothing too out of the ordinary - just regular pub food. The young ladies waiting the tables and serving the bar have it spot on and are very attentive. The food is superb and portion size is good. Would definitely recommend this place! Note to the Owners - update your Google pictures as the photos of the pub pre-refit don’t do your lovely venue justice! :)
