Review of Christmas Club Meal. Arrived very busy ordered drinks from bar nice gin a bit slow with only one serving. Seated in the main restaurant where the carvery is situated. We had 4 large tables. Place settings nice and Christmas themed. The starters very nice liked the mini Camembert cheese the cranberry sauce a bit runny. Mains from are served from the carvery, meats were either beef, turkey. A fish and what looked like a vegetarian nut roast. Had Turkey it was nice and moist and tasty. Pigs in blanket good, roasted potatoes these were very over cooked dry and hardly edible, carrot and parsnips good, broccoli very hard nearly raw. Other vegetables very good. The contentious do or do you not have Yorkshire with Turkey, well I did again over cooked and kept warm also tasted very oily. Deserts I had the cheese and crackers, very good selection of cheeses, like the warm bread but the crackers were soft as having being left out to long or old stale. The other selections not to my taste as with most restaurants now consist of salted caramel or a variety of chocolate dish’s, cheese cake offered not my taste. Finished with very good mince pies and tea or coffee. Service good throughout. Overall worth the money best better if they sort the carvery over or undercooked items out.

I had a lunch with friends and was astonished at the tiny size portion of my lunch. The Dayboat Stew consisted of a tiny amount of fish - a few prawns, one mussel and a small piece of salmon( I think! ) - with no additional vegetables or potatoes. Priced at £24 this was very poor VFM. When I mentioned my feedback to a member of staff they just laughed and said ‘haha a small lunch’. My friends had the roast beef with the beef seemingly having been microwaved. Very disappointing for a beautiful setting and an occasional that was special.
