The best restaurants serving British food in Hertford Bengeo East Hertfordshire East of England

My first visit today Mother’s Day, I was with my daughter and granddaughter. It is such a quaint place very well set out with a lovely garden although we ate inside. The service was very good and we we served very quickly although it was starting to get busy, the food was excellent in my opinion ( could have done with some parsnips though 😃) and with drinks a very reasonable price and am looking forward to Father’s Day next, definitely a place to return to.

Very poor Sunday roast. Served tepid, beef beyond rare, tiny deflated Yorkshires and 3 tiny cold roast potatoes. For £19 expected more. Good for a drink though but food leaves a lot to be desired.

Lovely food and presentation. The Katsu Curry was perfect! The staff are very friendly and helpful. Can highly recommend a visit.

Friendly service, peaceful atmosphere, and great coffee. I came in on a very rainy day for a coffee, ended up staying way longer than intended partly because of the sandwich, mostly because it was so calm.

1st of May lakes are still closed to customers. Just the restorant is open.

Rubbish. Tried the second day after relaunch it was poor quality cooking ,gave them the benifit of doubt theathing troubles but had cod chips and mushy peas this evening 14/4/25 and it was utter rubbish, uncooked batter, hollow chips and the mushy peas were brown...
