Oh My Cod in East Hertfordshire

When oh my cod first opened it was the best fish and chips in Hertford but that all changed when it got sold on, one Saturday in 2023 went there for battered sausage and chips x4 the chips was re cooked the sausage was just ok but the chip's ended up in the bin they was the worst chips I've ever had i now travel to ware to Wright's chip shop in ware and they are worth the extra miles and cheaper

This is the best chip shop in Hertford

Found this it to be expensive for small portions and fairly average food. The piece of Rock was £15.49 & doesn’t include clips (£4.49) they are charged as an extra. Found the fish to be very greasy with not much flavour. Meat & chips (£12.99), again found to be a small portion. I don’t feel that the food justifies this price tag & for that reason I wouldn’t eat from there again.

First time trying here love fish the fish and rest foos was nice though Thank you guys, will be back!

Very quick service. Savaloy was brown inside... Not sure how long it had been sat there for. Will not return.

This food left me up all night on the toilet. (Chicken shish in wrap) The worst part is i even said to the guy inside i thought this was the best kebab around but definitely not. Won't return.

Complete rip off charging 2.80 for a sausage. Ate it in a second. Profit for them it seems. Won't bother again

Good service apart from lady who owns the place, kebab a bit dry, garlic sauce too sweet I don't know why they add sugar, chilli sauce is not homemade. Might sound harsh but constructive criticism

Such a shame good staff friendly But cod awful flat like rubber So dried out under the heat £22 i suppose is ok if food is edible I notice mainly the 5 star rating are fellow countryman probably family members So the rating unfair

The best chips we’ve had in Hertford which is a relief after not finding many good ones! Sausage and sausage in batter was good. I will get fish next time but it looked very good. I’m happy to have finally tried it as the location isn’t great for the high street but worth the extra walk to get some nice chips.

I ordered from here and I went myself and the food is very good, the staff are always smiling, they never sulk and they have very good services, I want you to try it, the prices are very good for the taste of the fish

I went here yesterday and unfortunately the food was way below par. I don’t mind spending money if good but at £26 for 2 x cod 1x chips and a pie, it just wasn’t. If we wasn’t going out for the evening I would have returned the lot for a refund. Fish batter was thick and yucky and fish tasted very dry and hard (like it had been reheated or left for too long on the hot plate) even our non fussy kids fussed! Pie was fine as standard pukka pie. Chips… again not cooked to order and not particularly nice. Average at very best. The shop assistants was very nice and polite, great happy service! Please take on board as it could be a great place but need to tweak batter and cook to order so fresh. Sorry for the review but hope you get better!

2x Fish and chips were poor. Cod very greasy and flat. Chicken sish kebab was tiny and the salad was supplied in a tiny punnet...for £35 I was expecting better quality and quantity...wont be coming back. Only came here as most places locally are closed on Sundays for fish and chips

Went here today for the second time. The first time was disappointing with a cod which looked like it came out of a supermarket frozen box, but I thought I'd give them a second go. I asked for Cod and chips and some brown source. The young guy behind the counter was rude and didn't know what brown source was. How can a fish and chip shop not know that. I wouldn't have minded so much if it were not for the attitude of the chap behind the counter. I suppose it did me a favour, because I didn't buy from them and won't be buying from them again. They are clearly a Kebab shop trying to sell Fish and Chip. They are unwelcoming and rude. I recommend that if you are thinking of going here, don't!

Bit of a wait for the takeaway food but hey, it's Saturday night. Kind of expected. I love the staff , very friendly. That is why I keep coming back

Ordered sausage in batter, saveloy, chips and 2 bread rolls. My husbands roll had mould on the bottom, my saveloy was green inside and the chips were obviously yesterday's chips re fried! Never getting food there again! Would give zero stars if I could.

This is a place I didn't like using, but went in again about a year ago and it has considerably improved and us getting a bit better all the time!

Not a busy place its fair to say, therefore might depend when you go there. But the only two times I've been there my family were honoured to receive their 'display' items sat in the range for.. hard to say how long, certainly inedible. 2nd time to the clearly apparent disbelief of one of the assistants there, he'll happily take your money for any crap. A gimmick might help, like a snappy name.

Its an incredible cod chips, i travel all the way from north london to have my fish chips here. Its the best traditional fish and chips. I would recommend to anyone who’s after a tasty meal. The staff is always helpful lovely people. I love this place

Tried this chippy today for the first time ever, whilst visiting my mother in Hertford. Friendly staff made the pre ordering a simple process, and it was easy to understand eachother. Better still was the food! By far the nicest fish and chips we've had in a long time! Mushy peas, curry sauce etc were great too - Will definitely be back soon! Highly recommended

I occasionally eat chips (very nice) and I've been know to eat a kebab every now and then. Friendly and good food.

I was unsure where to get fish I’m and chips in Hertford as other places have been hit and miss. Had a really nice large piece of fresh cod and chips last night, delicious, will be back!

Incredibly expensive, I've paid less in central london for a lot better quality. Has to be atleast half greese, £8 for a fish and chips is just insane!

Went for a little drive through Hertford. I was hungry so much dad parked up n I ordered fiah n chips. My god they were good. We hoovered them up in the car. Very polite guy served me. Hope to return again.

3 large cod, it was massive, excellent as always, this is the best fish shop in Herford, the batter is nice and light and the cod was fresh and moist. Chips also nice as well cooked, not all greasy and anaemic. Can't beat this place for the best fish ever.

Three and a half stars, of it wasn’t so greasy give it 4/5 stars. Really good fish and chips, easily the best in Hertford. Tbh it’s the only proper dedicated fish and chip shop in Hertford. Shame it’s north of Hertford (only as I don’t drive).

Popped to oh my cod for some chips and they were absolutely vile to say the least. We were given the scraps that must have been left over for hours. The chips were so cold and dry and stale. Never again.

Oh my Cod, had an excellent piece of cod and the chips were excellent too! they were cooked well and to my liking, best chip shop chips as they were not anaemic. I don't eat kebab but my husband and grandson had the kebab wrap and both said it was very good.

Never again. London priced fish and chips with very VERY bad fish which is frozen and falls to pieces when you try to eat with a fork. Dry fish and batter, left under the hot lamps. Dry grease ridden chips. Bland! Most ended in bin many thanks won’t be back

Worst fish and chips I've ever had. The chip were not cooked and cold. The fish was so thin, a fish finger had more cod. Don't bother trying for yourself, waste of £8.... For small cod and chips.

Oh my Cod! The fish batter was a bit greasy/soft for my liking but that aside, we both agreed this was a very tasty fish and chip experience with added mushy peas 🙂 Friendly staff, pay with plastic and if you want to mix it up they offer kebabs and more too. Well worth a visit.

Very good, definitely worth trying. The sauses are excellent the fish was great. I'd recommend the popcorn mussels they were fantastic. A little pricey but I guess it suits the area.

First time visiting and the chips was Nice.

We were in Hertford today and stopped at this place for a bag of chips and a snag. The chips were cooked in fresh (not rancid) oil and were all soft inside and nice and crisp on the outside (twice cooked), some of the best chips I have bought. The Snag was the usual but because the chips were so good it somehow tasted better. We will be coming back for more.
