Excellent hospitality for my brother's wake. Very nice buffet.

Nice to see plenty of vegan choices. Staff were super friendly and attentive. Perhaps building needs a bit of love.

Reasonable car park. Narrow door entrance but welcoming staff. Good sized rear room. Fish was poor, tasteless, soft, watery, maybe frozen. Chips average. Chicken seemed well received. Not expensive though. Made our own atmosphere.

The buffet was wonderful, especially the homemade cakes and brownies. Nothing was too much trouble at all. Thank you Gill, it was a really lovely ending to a sad and difficult day.

A quaint (but lovely), family run local pub that specialises in home made pies & puds. We ordered (& greatly enjoyed) a Steak, Marmite & Mushroom pie as well as a Chicken & Mushroom Pie that came with a selection of options & lashings of gravy - both were delicious & generous in size. For dessert I ordered a Rhubarb Crumble with custard (to take away), which they were pleased to arrange without query. A very cosy pub with a beer garden out back & a very impressive, dedicated competitive darts area (with 5 illuminated boards) - there was a National competition taking place while we were there!

We recently held my father's Wake here. An incredibly hard time, so when I contacted the Silver Fox they was helpful from the get go! The ladies genuinely care and was happy to accommodate some personal touches we wanted to make, and allowed me to visit the day before to drop off some bits and pieces we wanted laid out. The food everyone complimented, and their hospitality was faultless. Can't thank them enough for being so kind. Traditional family pub, run by a lovely family. Plenty parking, lovely clean garden space and spacious inside seating area.

Held my Dad's Wake / Celebration of life here recently. They were compassionate to the situation, catered well for allergens. I would recommend The Silver Fox for all occasions or even just a pint and a light bite. Thank you for all your hard work on Friday 26.5.23

We used the Silver Fox for my father-in-laws wake yesterday. It was a good size for around 50 people (but could have taken more) with ample car parking for our needs. The publican and her family were very helpful, even opening up on an afternoon when they would normally be closed. There was a good mix of open space and seats and tables for people to mix and talk. They provided an ample buffet including homemade cakes (my favorite was the the coffee cake!) and helped make a difficult day that much easier. From start to finish we felt comfortable booking and using the venue.

Amazing food, amazing people. I would highly recommend their home made pies and desserts. Real pub food! Pub owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming 🙏

A lovely friendly pub and the pies are to die for! I had the chicken leek and lemon with mash and it was absolute delicious and HUGE! I could only manage just over half and I have a big appetite. Will definitely be back to try the beef, marmite and mustard pie.

Recently had a wake at this pub. The staff were really good - friendly and accommodating. The food was beautifully presented - with lovely homemade cakes and scones as part of the buffet. Tea and coffee were on flow. The owner even opened the pub especially for the wake. Can't thank them enough for their kindness and for making us all feel so welcome on such a sad and difficult day.

Attended a wake with 30 people after a funeral at Woolenbrook. Buffet was really nice. Sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls, jam and cream scones and Victoria sponge. Tea and coffee was plentiful and the bar had plenty of choice. Staff were friendly and helpful

We’ve recently moved to the village and decided to pop by on a Sunday lunch to try the pies as our friends had recommended them to us. We were certainly not disappointed! I had the chicken leek and lemon and my wife had the marmite and mustard. We ended up trying each others and have vowed to come back and try the rest of the list.

Went to play Darts here found it to be a very nice pub friendly staff good beer and a great bunch of dart players thoroughly enjoyed the night.

Called the pub to ask if they're open, she told me she will open the door, we walked in and were told we couldn't have a drink as both staff are leaving in 10 mins at 12noon. Lol no wonder pubs are closing. Thanks for wasting my time.

We were staying at Foxholes farm and wanted to find somewhere very local and come across the Silverfox. It was a Sunday so dinner service had stopped at its usual early time so had some drinks. We got chatting to what seemed to be some locals in the pub asking for a local Indian take away as we had plans to go back to our stay at the farm and eat. The locals really helped with our pick and the lady behind the bar kindly offered us to have delivered to the pub to eat there. She provided us with plates and cutlery and this didn't at all any inconvenience to her at all. Thank you very much for being so accommodating

We held my mothers wake at this pub and couldn’t recommend the service enough. The landlady spent time going through what we wanted making changes where we needed. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced and it was nice knowing that everything was in hand. The staff were friendly and the pub had a homely feel to it. Thank you to all that helped make a difficult day slightly easier

Good service, reasonably priced, nice food

Visited recently to try the homemade pies. I had the beef and Stilton and it was quite honestly one of the most flavour packed pies I’ve ever had. Portion size was huge, staff was friendly and always made sure I had everything I needed. Will definitely be back to try the rest!

The staff look down their noses at anyone who dares exopect a smile and a thank you. The drinks are served with absolutely no pride, flat coke mixed with a lump of ice and no slice, in the worsjt JD and coke imaginable. If you ask for a drink, clearly the staff are doing you a mssive favour getting off their overinflated egos. Possibly the most unfriendly pub ive ever visted.

Three of us had a meal in the Silver Fox last Saturday evening, very pleasant staff. Wonderful selection of pies, Desperate Dan would have a problem finishing one. Thank you Silver Fox,will definitely be back

Having attended this establishment on many occasions and been welcomed previously and spent a lot of money intermittently over the years, I was very disappointed to be sat outside on the bench and the manager took it upon herself to waddle outside to cast quite alarming and slanderous allegations. which can only be put down to unconscious bias, at best. Whilst totally unfazed, as the Landlady is renowned for being somewhat gruff, I took myself away without complaint at the time and nestled myself in the scenic Village Green, as I refused to become embroiled in this meaningless conversation. Hertford Heath is a majestic little village, however I would sadly advise people to steer clear of The Silver Fox if you are seeking friendly service. Thankfully, one is assured of far better food and ambience at The Goat and indeed, The College Arms, which are both very close by.

To say that the food is delicious doesn't do it justice........ Deservedly saved in my favourite places......

A great place for a pie, the portion sizes are large so watch out l, but the food is amazing, friending staff and a good atmosphere.

Visited a week ago and had a delicious, hearty roast dinner. Staff were friendly and welcoming. There is also a one way system to comply with covid 19 requirements.

Our normal pub at the other end of Hertford Heath had let us down over an early Christmas booking so we thought we'd try somewhere else in Hertford heath. On the web site the Silver Fox looked interesting and the menu quite decent. When we arrived the pub was cold and stayed that way such that my wife and our friend kept their coats on the whole time we were there. Our overall impressions were that the place lacked atmosphere and the service was very casual. The food was a little disappointing I'm afraid. We hoped for better but we were not impressed and will probably not go there again. As it happens the next week we tried our usual pub at the other end of Hertford Heath and had a great time there. It was back to its' normal friendly self with good service and good food and we will be going there again soon.

We held a wake in the function room at the Silver Fox in February 2020. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food they provided was plentiful and varied and included assorted sandwiches, pizza, chicken goujons, quiche, sausage rolls, pork pies, samosas, chips and a bottomless supply of tea and coffee. It all went down very well with the guests. We also ordered some cakes and scones which were home-made by Gill and these too were very much enjoyed. All in all, we were thoroughly pleased with the way everything went, and the prices were very reasonable. We would definitely recommend The Silver Fox for such events.

Excellent food, 4 of us ordered a diffetent pie each. Everyone one of them was delicious. Very good puddings as well, if you can fit one in! Well recommended, looking forward to returning.

Was empty barmaid didn't know a pino blush was a rose wine had to wait for owner/manager to log on ipad so we could pay by card. Pub was empty and where we sat there was chips under the table

Visited for drinks. We had a great welcome and teas and coffees were replenished. There was plates of biscuits put out and then to cap it all for our £2 per person, they came round with a plate of cut up scones with jam and cream Excellent visit

Went to the music quiz which was fantastic, stood at the bar whilst a load of students kept creating a line on one side of the bar, only one person on duty, as the students kept coming around again no service was given to either myself or the lady next to me, I asked the barmaid if I would be served if I joined their queue, she then served the lady with me and then myself, later that evening the manageress confronted me in front of my family and guests and said that I was abusive to her barmaid!, when I explained what happened she said that wasn't what she heard - from the barmaid? (which is the same as calling me a liar.) As the manageress came to the bar at roughly the same time as i was served she would have heard me if i had been acting in a poor manner. I will go there again for the quiz, unless it moves somewhere else.

A friend had hired the back room for a function. The food was good, beer and spirits very reasonably priced and the staff very nice and helpful. Nice place.

A really friendly pub. We needed to eat early and the cook was happy to serve us at 5pm. Good pub food including enormous pies and an impressive array of vegan options. Excellent value for money too.

Went for lunch with the family who can be quite hard to please but a good choice to please everyone. There was also a selection of home made pies on the specials and a varied selection of vegan dishes which I wish I'd tried now.The waitress was very helpful and jolly , the food was good, if any complaint, it was a bit chilly but I'm sure in the winter they have their fire going. Well worth a visit.

Reasonable priced food but cider bottles are really expensive. Can't drink here again. Wetherspoons Kopparberg Cider £2.39 a bottle. Silver Fox £4.94. I'm all for a profit but come on Silver Fox

Food was awful ordered a ploughman's. Ended up with one slice of cheese, 10 small pickled onions, loads of lettuce half uncooked part backed baton with colslaw.

What a surprise this place is! We went on a Saturday night and there was a band playing in the back room!!We were in a group of 5 and managed to book a table not long before we arrived. The menu was not overly complex and didn’t need to be; as all of our dishes were superb. They make their own pies and my WORD you should try them!! Very reasonable prices and a friendly atmosphere with a welcoming staff. We shall be going back soon!

Metimos en una copa con un amigo el sábado por la tarde y sólo había otra muy solitario bebedor masculino en el pub. Aparte de él, y la camarera, el lugar estaba totalmente vacío. La camarera nos aventuramos la explicación que, ninguno de los habitantes de navidad dinero para gastar. Muy extraño donde tanto mi pueblo pubs locales están en auge! Me imagino que no será mucho tiempo antes de que este pub cierra una vez éxito finalmente.

Basic pub, cheap food, but friendly and welcoming staff

Visitamos este pub hoy para el almuerzo y no nos decepcionó. El pub tiene un gran ambiente y el servicio es muy amable. El menú es muy amplio pero ambos acabé pidiendo tartas caseras, carnes y Guinness y un juego pastel, que estaban deliciosos. Y terminamos con el pudding de pan con mantequilla casi mejor que nosotros! Estaba bastante concurrida pero no tuvimos que esperar mucho tiempo para nuestra comida. Esperamos volver pronto.

Situado en Hertford Heath, elegimos este pub, ya que estaba en el centro de un grupo de amigos y yo. Yo no tenía expectativas ya que era simplemente un lugar para un antiguo grupo de amigos para reunirse y ponerse unos tragos y una comida.

Las hamburguesas aquí son increíbles! El servicio es impecable. Los postres también son para morirse. Muy recomendable. Buen aparcamiento fuera de la calle y también una muy buena lista de reproducción.

He de decir que si quieres un ambiente cálido y acogedor con una buena comida casera y bebidas con la compañía increíble, te recomiendo el Silver Fox en heath de Hertford, pasando por a principios de la semana y fue una sorpresa total, la comida estaba bien de precio, y tenían la sesión de rugby. (win es genial para Escocia! ). Gracias a todo el personal, por el magnífico servicio, volveremos de nuevo.

This is a lovely traditional pub , makes a nice end for local walks or cycles. The food cooked by Gill is really good and home made. And the bar staff (Jackie) is a helpful. Well worth popping in for a pint and a meal.

We were meeting friends who were halfway through a bike ride here for lunch. A nice small patio garden, and medium sized pub inside. The decor is a bit crappy inside and the pub was totally empty. The staff were very friendly and helpful, dogs are allowed in the bar and out in the patio garden. A good selection of food was available and freshly cooked to order. The burgers, chips, chicken, wedges and steak were all very good. The salads were very basic, but good as a side (iceberg lettuce, cucumber &amp; tomato). The tuna salad as a main consisted of a large portion of tuna mayo, large portion of coleslaw, iceberg lettuce, tomato, cucumber, half a baguette and some pickled onions. Personally this is not to my taste when ordering salad as a main, but it was okay for a pub style salad! Would defo go back there, for an outdoor drink &amp; lunch.

Went here Fri night after the pub we planned to eat in was so packed, there was nowhere to sit. Lots at the bar, but plenty of tables. Ordered fish &amp; chips. Fast &amp; friendly service, lovely food. Really impressed.

Went there on a Friday evening it was busy with families and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The staff were friendly and greeted us straightaway. There was no delay in taking our order and the food was all fresh and home made. The waitress was attentive without being intrusive and it was overall an enjoyable evening. I can't wait to go back and try one of their pies chicken, leek and lemon it sounds scrummy and I wish I had noticed it on the board before I chose my meal.

I often go here with friends at work for lunch. Foods OK but seems over priced. Its a nice quiet pub but never seems to have enough staff.

Sorry , but I wouldn't return . We needed a quick lunch as we were working across the road and only had an hour . I had previously been disappointed with the food and total lack of atmosphere but as we only wanted sandwiches and jacket potatoes I didn't see that there could be a problem . It was just not nice . Cold tuna on a warmed up tepid potato and some iceberg lettuce , The place feels dirty and the staff are scruffy .Everything about it is horrible . I won't be back . I would rather sit on a bench on the road with a homemade sandwich .Such a shame , a few years ago the place was heaving and you had to book weeks in advance as the food was so good .

Popped in for a bit of midweek lunch and was immediately made to feel very welcome by the staff. Plenty of space both inside and out although the seating was very tired and worn. The food was a good size and the bacon cheese burger I had was full of flavour. Would've liked to have had a bit more choice on the menu but overall was pleased we went.

I visited this pub early in January for evening food and found it grubby, seating well worn, the food was only warm and not best quality typical fast food catering. The beers I can not comment on I had Guinness can't go far wrong with that.

Went here for a afternoon lunch although limited menu found enough variety. I had a £5 special of liver and bacon I was very happily surprised it was only £5 but was worried when ordering what the size and quality would be. When my food arrived I was overly happy with the portion size and the quality. The staff was incredibly upbeat and very helpful. Will defiantly be going here again.

Ten years ago this place was the local hotspot to go for food. In fact the buzz at Merck Sharp &amp; Dohme (300 employees) was that this was THE place to go for special lunches, birthdays, celebrations.In the evenings the locals would also enjoy great quality dishes. How things can change.Recently its just basic standard fare. Reheated and to be honest not all that great. Its a shame because the Silver Fox had a fierce reputation for quality. I dont know why they went off the boil but I guess every pub has its day.. Overall this place used to be great but the quality of the food is not up to scratch. Perhaps they are just catering for their regular crowd.Would I go back? No Who is the local competion to beat? If you want to see how its really done then get yourself off a mile up the road to the GALLEY HALL. Now THAT'S pub dining Come on Silver Fox you used to be better than this....

We had supper at this pub, and whilst the service was quite friendly and helpful, the food was almost inedible. I ordered a baked potato that had been over-microwaved and had hard crusty bits to it, which nearly broke my teeth. I mentioned it to the staff, but they didn't seem overly concerned, although I did get an apology. The apple crumble pudding was adequate, but nothing more.This pub may be fine for drinking in, but eat elsewhere, would be my recommendation!
