The best restaurants serving British food in Pyefleet Colchester East of England

I was down here doing the PARAS 10 event and was recommended this place by gillian who kindly put me up for the night, i had the wagu burger, the prices are alot different than in Manchester but the place had a lovely warm feel and a great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend a visit.

The Shakshuka with chorizo was one of the best breakfasts I have had! Served with toast and I had tea. Service was great, helpful and premted what we needed. Will be visiting again on route to Cudmore when talingbthe dogs for a walk along the beach!

Menu looks really good for gluten free until you go to order and ask if they use separate fryers. The answer is no and when challenged that food is no longer gluten free they don’t want to know. When I said they lie on their menu I got a shrug. They have the cheek to charge you £2 extra for gluten free fish and chips which is, again, cross contaminated. My opinion is avoid if you have any allergies as they obviously don’t care.

We went for drinks with our family, were only told after we purchased the drinks that children age 13 were not allowed in the bar area.?? The bar area only had handful people in it?? We were told one figure when paying, but on checking bank when we returned home, found more money was taken Also found the bar person cold in their welcome, not what you expect from staff working in a pub Shan’t be back
