Small but beautifully appointed restaurant and high quality food at reasonable prices. Very friendly and attentive staff too.

My family went for an afternoon tea to celebrate a 90th Birthday. We were very disappointed with the sandwich fillings which were very cheap, no prawn or smoked salmon just egg, tuna, sundried tomato and ham & cheese. Very expensive for the amount of money we paid. Also we were giving one pot of tea each which wasn’t re filled until we eventually see someone and had to ask. This was the worst experience of an afternoon tea. Waste of money and we should have gone somewhere else.

I visited The Bear with a group of friends, and we had an absolutely fantastic experience! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a cosy yet lively vibe that made us feel right at home. I ordered the seabass risotto, and it was simply delicious... Perfectly cooked seabass with creamy, flavourful risotto that really hit the spot. My friends all enjoyed their meals as well, it was clear that a lot of care goes into the food here. The service was also outstanding. Our server was attentive and friendly without being intrusive, and the staff made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. We’ll definitely be back!

Nice food and service, but disappointing as they had run out of the veggie roast.

It’s a nice little pub with a huge garden so great for summer! However, I took my 91 year old Nan and it was a bit claustrophobic for her, the seats were in were a bit low for the table as well and she’s diddy now so it was hard for her to eat her meal. The food was nice, wouldn’t say it’s the best roast I’ve had but worth a try, I had the pork which was nice some parts a bit tougher and Nan had chicken which was nice! Staff were lovely and polite 😊

Haven’t been here for a long time, but went here for a birthday breakfast. The food was beautifully cooked and they swapped my egg for an extra sausage without any problems. The café offers panoramic views of the reservoir. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It was a great way to start my birthday celebrations. I will certainly return again.

We visited for my mother in laws birthday. Family of five. Service was fairly slow (although plenty of staff hanging around) but we had a polite young man serving us. There was also a group of young staff playing around and giggling in the bar area… When the food eventually arrived (2 chicken burgers, two fish and chips and a ham and chips) everything was overcooked/burned. The fish also tasted as if cooked in old oil… We did complain, but nothing was said and we received a full bill… To be fair we have eaten there twice before and the food was fairly good… But for a Friday night the place was sparsely occupied - tonight’s offering is likely the reason why! Never again.
