The best restaurants serving British food in West Wellingborough East Midlands

Awful service, and the roast dinner definitely did not make up for it! Avoid. Plenty of options across Northants for a decent roast. This place is overrated.

I had organised a family xmas meal for 16 of us as we rarely all get together. I chose this place because of the good reviews and recommendation of food. Prior to visiting the communication was extremely poor. I tried calling various times with no answer, left messages which took at least 7-10 days to get back to me. So I was concerned but our food orders were retaken 2 weeks to us arriving so I thought what could go wrong! On arrival we were sat in a room with others when I was advised we had our own function room! There was no highchair which I asked for prior to our visit and it took 30 mins to turn up. We ordered drinks on the app which took at least 40 mins to arrive. The manager informed us to let her know when we wanted starters bringing out as we had preordered food for the adults and not the kids. We said we would ordered the kids food and then let her know. 10 minutes after this half of our starters arrived. We said we were not ready for them yet as the kids food had not long been ordered. They brought them anyway. We were given half the starters and 30 mins later given the next set of starters. So half of us were eating at one time and the other half had to wait alongside hungry kids! The chicken strips were inedible so were the brie bites. They were hard and tasted old. The carvery was nice but service was so slow. We waited in the queue for 20-25 minutes just to get served. This meant again people that hadn't ordered carvery were eating without us. What was meant to be a family meal wasn't as we all ate at different times apart from the desert. The drinks service was so slow, we weren't asked if anything was OK with our meals, plates were cleared slowly and overall it was just a disaster. I complained at the end and 2 meals were taken off the bill which we appreciated but it was a disaster from start to end. It ruined a nice family meal and none of us will ever visit again. Also the state of the toilets was appalling and on the toilet check list it showed they hadn't been checked for days. This place needs a serious overall and management stepping in to get it to an acceptable standard. To top it off the play area was blocked off and not in use which was one of the reasons I booked this place.

Really liked the experience. It was a nice quiet Sunday Lunch, lovely food, good service and a nice ambience. Will return!
