The best restaurants serving British food in Forest South Kesteven East Midlands

A party of 5, we came for a roast dinner. The whole setting is lovely, warm and welcoming. We sat by a roaring fire whilst we made our menu choices. Once our starters were ready we were shown to the table, the restaurant area has recently undergone a renovation which has a country homely feel to it. We had roast beef, roast lamb, and a mixed meat roast. The quality of the meat is exceptional, really tasty, lots of vegetables including cauliflower cheese, huge Yorkshire puddings and flavoursome gravy. Highly recommend the Chomley as a fantastic all round Lincolnshire pub.

First Trip Since New Owners – Harlaxton Manor I was hoping for some significant improvements following the new ownership, but to no avail. While they have sorted out the administrative issues – the website is fixed, you can book a table online, and they pick up the phone – the staff were welcoming, but the downside is they haven't improved the food. We ordered 2xFish and Chips on a Friday night, only to be told they had run out of chips (and it’s not as if they were busy). The replacement was Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper Waffle Fries, which sounded okay but tasted like they were from a bargain frozen food store, not homemade. The basic, bland food they offer is really poor value. There's a well-known high street pub with budget food where the food is half the price and better – that's not even a joke. It's a shame, as I expected better things under the Harlaxton Manor flag. My friend, who I went with, is getting married next year and was considering the manor for his wedding. He said he won't bother now if this is the standard they have set.

Great place to eat food and service very good. Dogs welcome. We visited Saturday & Sunday lunchtime both food menus were very good.

An excellent choice , lovely and warm , friendly staff and delicious food, we booked online last minute and where very happy with our choice, would highly recommend
