Very disappointed. Waited ages to get served. Very small Sunday menu. Ordered the beef & chicken. Beef said serve pink on the menu. So I asked for cooked a bit more but the other one served as it is. When arrived , both were way over cooked. And the meat were So tough, took all the effort you need to cut it. End up just had the veg & left the beef. Mashed potatoes was not creamy & just lumpy. Chicken, Veg, Gravy were all bland. The only decent thing on my plate was the Yorkshire pudding. Overall it was a very very disappointing meal & certainly won’t come back again.

We had a delicious filling Sunday Lunch today. Service was good and it was very good value. I over heard another customer comment: “just one criticism, a lovely meal, but we need a bigger plate!”. It was a busy, warm and friendly place. With a mix of couples and families. The Gregory has been a fixture of the community for a long time, and its nice to see it still well supported. It has a bit of history attached… eg the steps at the side, is where one used to mount your 4 legged transport. So I was told. Lastly, do ask to see down The Well!

Stopped off for a light bite for lunch before going to Belvoir Castle for fireworks show. Huge carpark, plenty of space for RV. From the moment we stepped in there, we were warmly welcomed by lovely gent behind the bar. Lovely selection of food on the menu, and when food was served, had a lovely vibrant salad with homemade parsnip crisps with bacon and brie pannini, nachos, wings with sweet chilli, halloumi fries, and sandwiches. All very tasty, beautifully presented and lovely flavours. Will definitely return. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality x

We stopped by here last night for a bite to eat with my partner. The decor and overall feel of the pub was great. The lad who I am assuming was front of house was lovely and welcoming, she sat us to our table. We got a round of drinks quickly and our order taken in our own time. We had the halloumi fries for starters to share what was plenty fod the both of us and were lovely, the sweet chilli sauce was also very good. For the mains we both has the gammon, a boring choice I know but it was a large piece with plenty of portion size for the new potatoes and peas as well as an egg and pineapple. Overall it was a solid 8/10 meal. Would definitely recommend to others.

Unfortunately not as good as the last visit. The garlic mushrooms weren't no where near as good. The ones I had before were cooked button mushrooms but this visit they were big ones sliced but not cooked plus the bread was soft not toasted much like before. The mains was okay as that was just pasta. For me to carry on having food here then the food needs to match what it was like before.

Such a disappointing experience. We were so looking forward to eating for the first time since its takeover. There was no welcome or ambience in the place. The carpet is grubby and the staff not particularly well dressed. I ordered the belly pork and could not believe how it came. It was not cooked properly. The layers of white solid fat had not been rendered down with slow long cooking. My knife would not cut it!! It was inedible. I complained to the waiter who assured me that the chef was qualified. I doubted that. The desserts were fine. I was given a free dessert!! I will not be returning in the near future which is such a pity as it is our closest walk to pub and restaurant. This could be such a lovely place to meet, drink and eat. The staff need training in customer service and the chef needs to cook food well. They all need to have a passion for people, service with great food and drink. It is not rocket science to get it right. The people in Harlaxton want this venue to succeed.

Concering that customers are being told they have been reinspected after receiving a very low score of 2 and are now a 4 where they clearly are not! Inspections do not take place so soon after the EHO inspection last month, they happen on a schedule unless they request an early paid inspection if they believe the work and improvements have been made, then they would get a revised score. I do not see any evidence of that. I will not be dining there until proof of 4 or more is achieved. Please do not bring our lovely pub and eating place down. But more so, don't lie to people. You may own it (lease it) but we, the customers, villagers, public, have a right to have an honest and trustworthy establishment in Harlaxton as we have done for many years under the previous owner. We want it to work! p.s. looking at the other reviews, its not just food safety and honesty that's a concern!!

Nice food, and home made which was lovely. Especially for the price! The blonde lady behind the bar was very pleasant, and professional. However we were served by an older man whom we both found quite rude. I had ordered a burger as the bar menu was not given to us and hence with it being lunch and me being on a diet I ate the burger not the bun and a few chips. The man came to clear the table and saw I left a lot of my food, so he said oh and looked at my plate. I advised I was on a diet to which he replied: ‘She’s on a diet so she orders a burger’. I found this rude and didn’t know what to say, it was a treat for me and he made me feel stupid for having left some food. I would suggest being careful what you say to people in future as you never know peoples reasons for doing certain things. Additionally the bathrooms smelt very bad, needed decorating and cleaning properly.

Been a regular customer over the years and tried out the food for the first time under the new owners a couple of weeks back. I don't want to be too harsh as I really want this pub to succeed as I know all the locals do as well but it really needs to improve to stay open I fear. There are points that need to be addressed before I even talk about the meal. The website is out of date , shows old menus and has a online booking link that doesn't work, which is fine if they serve the food on those menus (which they don't) and if pub picks it's phone for bookings but it took me 5 attempts over 3 days to get through. When I arrived I noticed it wasn't worth my time to go through the pain of booking as the place was pretty empty. Plus point - the waitress that greeted and served us was very friendly and helpful. We were given a lunch time menu - although it was well past 6 pm so the choice was limited. Had the fish and chips and the fish was ok , the chips however were the frozen French fry type not the homemade -hand cut ones the pub used to serve. So disappointed there. The starters were basic , prawn cocktail that any one could make really , it was alright nothing to write home about. It should really be better than alright for the premium price you charge. (note to owners take a look at old review pictures to see the quality of food the pub used to serve and be honest with yourselves does yours match up?) A pint of lager in the pub costs nearly £7 which is very steep for the local area and probably why the bar area was empty. So I'm hoping for some big improvements before I go again. The cynical side of me worries if there is an ulterior motive for the decline of quality of the pub from the new owners. Id be interested to hear comments from the management on their plans as the pub I notice is clocking up quite a few negative reviews and anyone I speak to in the village is disappointed and a few social groups have stopped going there for after group activity as the drinks are so expensive.

Booked for a meal for 6 of us. 3 of us had starters 2 of which were soup which was tasty but luke warm. There was only one vegetarian option on the menu which was mushroom risotto which I can't stand. When I asked the waitress if I could have something else she came back from the kitchen saying the chef could put peas in the risotto because there was nothing else. I opted for a starter instead with chips and salad. When that came the chips were cold. Another person in our group had chicken in mushroom sauce. When it arrived it looked like a lump of grey clay on the plate. 2 people ordered pies which they said we're like pies bought in a supermarket. All the meals were barely warm. I really feel the Gregory needs to up its game. More vegetarian choices are needed and service needs to be quicker and more organised to make sure food is delivered to the table while it's hot. Also there was a long gap after 4 meals were brought to the table before the last 2 arrived so the first ones had finished eating. Needless to say we will not be eating there again and would not recommend anyone else to.

Visited on 18.1.24 for my birthday and my friends didn’t want to make a fuss but on reflection I feel I need to complain. The ladies that served us were friendly and accommodating to our requests. However… My friends say they arrived and were left standing at the bar without acknowledgment in a fairly empty pub to then be told everyone had come at once. The main menu wasn’t available so there was extremely limited choice as we were given a lunch menu, particularly for me as a vegetarian. When the food arrived, I immediately noticed a hair in my salad which I discretely removed. I had to order a starter as my main. My chips and Brie wedges were cold. My friend had chicken and had to ask for more sauce as there was hardly any and her cauliflower was stone cold. We ordered sticky toffee puddings for dessert which were lacklustre and clearly microwaved and one of us had toffee sauce but the others didn’t. It was a real shame as we don’t meet up often and it really marred the evening. I emailed The Gregory but had no response. A lot of work needed to improve.

When we arrived, we were told straight away they had no steaks left......on a Saturday night, not a great start. I ordered scallops with black pudding and pea puree....tasty, but scallops were very overcooked and need so much more pea puree. I had hake main course. It was fine but overcooked again and came with sweet potato rosti but was basically grated sweet potato. My husband had sticky toffee pudding, but was informed they had run out of ice cream.....seriously.....so had it with custard.....but only a tiny spoonful! Food was fine.....will we comeback...maybe....but give it a few months....

My friend said “Be kind it’s Christmas”, but if I am not honest in my feedback, then you can’t put right what is wrong. It is intended as constructive criticism and I hope you take it that way. Appreciate difficulties with previous owners and website, but it seems to me that you have opened before you are ready. In the past I booked Christmas functions at The Gregory for our HQ for approx 40 people and we returned twice more it was so good. Proper menus would help, instead of just printed out on copier paper. Try brightening up the tables and the place settings. Try some nice white napkins even if they are paper, better than the dark blue, the tables looked drab, it is supposed to be Christmas. Could have had the fire lit to give a bit of ambience to the place as well as a bit more warmth. Lunchtime menu was poor, only 3 out of four starters available. Friend had prawns which were good, soup pretty tasteless and sweet bread roll with soup a definite no, try a crusty roll, butter was too cold to spread. Both had chicken with mushroom sauce for mains, chicken was tough and not particularly good. My mushroom sauce came in a jug and it was cold, as was the broccoli. Chips were excellent, that was the only good bit of the meal. Both the soup bowl and main course plates were cold, so food did not remain hot, and cold/lukewarm food is a real pet hate of mine. We were not asked if we wanted dessert or coffee, so poor table service, and a missed opportunity. Would not return as overall a disappointing, mediocre meal.

Such friendly staff who were so helpful with my dietary requirements. I am severely allergic to eggs, peanuts, hazelnuts and soya. The manager came out with a menu marked up from the chef of what meals I can / can’t have and which ones they...

Lovely traditional country pub. The food was excellent and fresh. I went for the fish and chips and it was lovely. The rooms were really nice. Well decorated and clean. Beds were really comfy. The only issue is the WiFi was very poor, as was the signal, so if you need it to work away maybe request a room with the best signal.

Came with the dog and had a lovely lunch. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We both had the "Greg Burgers" which were massive and came with fries. Well worth a visit and recommended.

So, this is very local to me and I have sadly watched it go down and down. Menu is not fantastic and it’s very over priced. £18.50 for a chicken roast unless you like one of the desserts included on the two course menu -...

Fantastic and convenient stop for delicious food and drink on a lunch break. The fish and chips were accompanied with homemade tartar sauce, all in all, of the highest calibre. Will definitely be back.

Absolutely fuming, we ordered our food only to wait nearly 40 minutes to be told they only had one portion of lasagne left where 2 of us had ordered. So 40 minutes after they took our order they had not even started cooking it. The food then took another 40 minutes from that point after asking twice more and being told it was being plated up.

Racist approach to customers, rudeness and superiority for no reason. I think that the person washing glasses behind the bar should have more humility. Pathetic.

Was hoping for better. Wanted to like the chippy but just felt a bit dated all round from the actual restaurant to the food. It was edible and well presented. Nice friendly staff. Prices were ok. Not often I don't want to finish my chippy tea, it just wasn't great and didn't feel to healthy after.
