Such a lovely couple who own it and they are so warm and welcoming to absolutely everyone. My husband and I went for tea and took our French Bulldog Winnie who was equally pampered as the tearoom is dog friendly. My husband had cake and I had a plain scone with jam and butter and it was he best scone I have ever eaten in my 58 years! So much so we ordered another one to share. This place comes highly recommended.

We popped in to get a quick family lunch and were really happy that we did. Pass the Thyme is a clean and tidy eaterie. Modern furniture and a nice bar at the end appeal to all. There was a steady stream of customers, mainly locals by the sound of it which is always a good sign. Some tables had also been reserved for lunch that Saturday afternoon. The lunch menu was modern, accessible and focused on some staples such as pizzas, burgers, fries and salads. Between us we had a chicken Caesar, loaded nachos and smashed burgers. My 10yo wolfed down his burger and declared it “the best burger ever”. All dishes arrived promptly, were tasty, really well prepared and generous in their portions. And well priced too, ideal for a quick family lunch. Service was in keeping being efficient, clear and friendly. Very happy to recommend Pass the Thyme for lunch if you are in Campbeltown.

This shed is miles down a single track road, in a beautiful setting but hardly in a commuter belt. It is so well stocked. Cakes - so many to choose from, hot and cold drinks, ice cream, fudge tablet. The caravan park further down the road must help with trade, but it is a great place and I hope it continues to flourish and the baker continues to bake (Oh and the cakes and tablet were fab).

This is the first place I head to every time I get to Rothesay. The best coffee on the island - no competition. Plus an incredible salted hot chocolate (I buy bags of the stuff to take back to London), plus amazing pastries and excellent soup for lunch. And Mhairi and her team are always good for a natter and to bring you up to speed on the island gossip and recent celebrity sightings. I also rarely leave without a new pair of earrings thanks to the Bonnie Bling range they stock.

We were staying locally snd wanted to get a bit closer to some of the famous highland cows. We were taken on a walk though the farm firlds by the owner Jane to meet the different groups of cows including some really young ones. Jane was fascinating providing insight into the running of the farm and Highland Fold business, the farm ecosystem and the North Atlantic rainforest plus of course the star attraction highland cows themselves! We had a fabulous afternoon and would highly recommend the experience plus the barn cafe where we had coffee, delicious cake and ice cream!

We’ve stayed just down the road from the Gaelic Centre four times now but this is the first time we’ve realised that the cafe is open outwith special events. We had excellent coffee and scones served by lovely friendly staff. The centre is very peaceful and has great views. We also really enjoyed seeing the paintings by local artist Dieter Finger - both the landscapes and the impressive portraits of some of the musicians who’ve played at the Lagavulin jazz festival in the past.

Great crab sandwiches and smoked salmon sandwiches. Lobster salad is also very good value for money and very tasty. Highly recommended

Very friendly, welcoming spot. Run by volunteers in the community. Fantastic views of Loch Awe from the terrace at the back!

Brilliant place. The couple who run it are really friendly and happy to discuss the food and offer suggestions. We had venison burger, cajun chicken wrap and shared chips. Portion sizes are big and the food is delicious. The chips are great - much better than those served at Talla Na Marra. I've never seen a wrap wrapped the way it was - more like a crepe, but there was lots of chicken on it as well as cheese, onions and salad. Really tasty. Venison burger was huge and melt in the mouth. Add 2 cans of pop and it came to less than £20 for a filling, hot, tasty meal. Couldn't recommend Island Bites more highly.

Love this place great home made food. This is a favourite stop off when up this way. Fab cheese burgers and lots of cakes. Not only food, but garden centre, gifts & sheds. Will be back again soon.
