As soon as you walk in you are made to feel so welcome by Mark and his staff. The food was outstanding. Everything was so fresh and lots of local produce used. Mark is very enthusiastic about his food and genuinely cares that you enjoy your meal. Lots of vegan options. Will definitely be be back.

A hidden gem! Best falafel sandwich I have had for a very long time- freshly prepared and filled to the brim with delicious pickles etc. exceeded my expectations ! Husband also thoroughly enjoyed his Oakland sandwich. Random mixture of healthy drinks such as moon milk and burgers. My chai was very tasty. Don't let exterior put you off, the standard of food was exceptional. This was their first day of a new menu and I wish them all the best with it. Can't wait to visit when in area again. Thank you

This is a regular stop for us for lunch. Local Hero is a real asset to Dunoon located on Ferry Brae in the town centre it serves a select range of freshly prepared dishes with daily specials. Everything is fresh and freshly prepared once you order. Mark, Alan and the team are great and their passion for good food and their commitment to giving diners the best is second to non. There is no where else in the area that serves food like Marks and we are so lucky to have Local Hero. Whether you're local or a visitor you won't be disappointed with a meal here. Oh and if you have room Alans Pardon My Pudding desserts are divine.

We’ve returned a few times to this gem of a cafe..the food is amazing and delicious..staff very friendly and welcoming. Need more visits to sample more from the menu..favourite was buffalo chicken on sourdough also egg on toast was not your regular boring offering but with added ingredients it was so delicious.

Local Hero Cafe is top notch! best food in Dunoon! everything is freshly prepared. Came to Dunoon for a weekend away with my family. I stumbled across this place while waiting to get access to our accommodation. The menu was a salvation fest. I went for the special buffalo chicken wrap with a side of halloumi fries with a chilli jam. It was phenomenal. We have done a meal plan for our weekend stay but we may have to return when the rest of my family arrive. Lovely hidden wee jem. Highly recommend. The staff are lovely and so friendly as were the customers around me. I wish the owner and his staff the best of luck and keep up the good work. Amazing.

Stumbled across this gem of a place last week - couldn't believe the quality and cordon-bleu standard of the food, for greasy spoon prices! The chef used to run the a local restaurant. Staff incredibly friendly and attentive and Mark, the boss, seemed to have time to chat to all his customers. Dishes were creative and fresh. Excellent vegan and gluten-free items on the menu too. Underused and underrated, but not for long I'm sure. Get over there fast!

Local Hero is a true gem in Dunoon. The ambience feels warm and welcoming, reminiscent of being surrounded by friends and family, the staff are genuinely friendly.
