Food was fantastic & service was great, rooms are very nice & clean, will be back for another stay in the future.

Amazing food, veggie options, warm welcome - worth it even just for the atmosphere and the incredible attention to detail in the rockabilly decor! Highly recommended!

Overpriced tester menu!!! …. Long waiting time & Very expensive for a tiny portion ( just one deep friend cookie dough , bite size, for £7.95) overpriced Icecream ….. just one thought: overprized tester menu!!!

Incredibly underwhelming experience. My 16 year old daughter could have done far superior. Chilli cheese fries - WITH NO CHILLI??? consisted of chips with cheese and what I surmise was cajun seasoning, that was all. Definitely nothing like the picture advertised. No sour cream or salsa.... nothing. Cheese steak sandwich - not slices of beef as you would of expected but more like stew ? A baguette, which was soggy with the sauce, cheese, fried onions, they had no peppers left - frankly this was inedible. Milkshakes - the Milkshake was nice, really small for the price and they were out of whipped cream. All in all it was pretty much a disaster. We got a sorry about that but you still have to pay the full price. As we were leaving we received a very condescending good bye from the staff. Such a shame!

We visited the Rockabilly Diner and we weren't disappointed. The decor is real old USA with 50s music. The food has all American names, and mainly consists of various burgers.

Food took an hour to come and was a little underwhelming. Said on the menu that the chicken and wafle sandwich came with chips but when I asked about it was told that it doesn't. Maple syrup was also missing and waffles were dry. Have checked the menu and it deffo says it comes with chips. Was still charged nearly £20 for the meal 😭have to say it's still an interesting place to go in a cool spot. They were probably having a bad night but not a good experience.

Out of season it was a bit quiet.... Us and the waiter but o er all the atmosphere can be soaked up via the environment with so much quirky and fun rockabilly memorabilia to check out. Staff are lovely and friendly, food is authentic and we'll definitely come again.... Already booked 😍

A couple of visits, breakfast and for milkshake, plus a drink in the bar. It was nice, decor amazing. Food a little overpriced for what we got. Would go again if wanted to share surrounding with someone new, but perhaps not otherwise

Fab food and service! Chicken and waffles were an amazing combo I would definitely be having again. Mac n' cheese was American style with not much sauce but still tasty. Milkshake was utterly devine. Had a lovely chat with the owner as I settled up which just added to the very warm welcoming environment where you feel valued as a customer.

Characterful diner with American, Cajun and Creole style food. Good fun and friendly staff. The restaurant is clean and bright. Bottled and draft beers. There is a small bar behind. Overly large portions by my standards although food is fresh and tasty. The waiter offered to pack any left overs. Short drive from centre of Bute. Great location at Ardbeg Point. I would recommend to family and friends.

Enjoyed a lovely evening here while on holiday in Bute - we had been hoping to eat at the diner and were happy to get booked in. Food was absolutely delicious - my partner had the spicy burger and was not disappointed ! We shared wings Mac and cheese and onion rinds and all were super tasty and freshly made. After dinner we were able to sit through in the bar with another couple on their honeymoon where a lovely member of staff, and later the friendly owner, served us. Had a great laugh with everyone. Such a cool place and lots of fun with great staff, chat and recommendations for things to do on the island.

We went out for a family meal. Food was really great! Huge portions. Tasted lovely. Really nice atmosphere. Staff were good. Only issue we had was the baby boost seat wasn't clean but we highlighted to staff who rectified without any issue. Definitely worth a visit.

Slice of American heaven in Scotland. What a gem, absolutely worth the visit and the owner is a hoot. Just a fun, great place to eat.

Not sure how / why this place isn't overflowing with reviews! It's a great option on Bute, & - as an American - pretty true to the Americana diner form! On point with the Elvis memorabilia & classic Cadillac out front. We had the fried chicken (breast) & waffles, Canadian fried chicken sandwich & Philly cheese steak. The fried chicken - honestly, top notch! Nice seasoning/rub - an homage to the owner who originally hails from the southern part of the USA. The philly cheese steak, while not 100% like the ones you'd get on South Street in Philly, still tasted delicious & in our top 2 cheese steaks we've had in the UK. On my next visit: I'd give the Mac & cheese & waffle a pass personally, & load up more on the fried chicken (the chicken wings are next on my hit list). Aside from the food, service was also cheerful & fun! Remember to walk over to the bar adjacent to the restaurant, grab a Bud, & hopefully you'll catch the owner, Brody, who's a massive hoot!!

Long overdue trip to this place after recommendations staff friendly . Place clean , Some cool memrobilla and music . Food was fantastic and great portion size . Get across for a visit people 👍

This place is a true hidden gem, great vibe, fab food and spotless. The owner is the friendliest guy and the staff were more than helpful...look forward to coming back and enjoying a night of live music in the scottish honky tonk bar next door!!

This place was absolutely terrific - the owners was so very nice to us, and the waitress was incredible. We had the BIG BLOCK, the TACOS, a most amazing ENCHILADA plate and other assorted goodies. Having been on the island for several days (and for the first time - a very beautiful island I must say!), we noticed a few places offering something very similar (several quasi-American places to chose from), but THIS is the real deal! We couldn't recommend this place enough, and we will definitely be back! Thankyou so much for a very delicious time!!! :)

The fried chicken and burger were lovely. The decor is 1950s and well done, all very fresh and bubblySome of the food could have been hotter (the mac and cheese).Some good Covid 19 measures in place.It was a bit cold in the restaurant which took the edge of the enjoyment.

During a recent visit to the Isle of Bute we asked a local if they could recommend a good place to grab something to eat. He recommended the R and B rockabilly diner as the place we wouldn’t want to miss. Our family decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed. The food was great and the atmosphere was fantastic. Wish we had something like this in our village. Highly recommend this restaurant. Great food, great atmosphere, and great service.

All I can say do not go near this so called Restaurant, there were 8 other customers in but we had to wait 25 mins for out orders to be taken.STAY AWAY. On road parking

Visited here with friends. It’s a 25 minute walk from Rothesay ferry terminal. Upon arriving, we were assigned seats and got our drink orders taken. I had a glass of water and then ordered the chicken legs with “Texan toast (basically french toast with cinnamon and some powdered sugar on). The waitresses were very polite and attentive. The chicken was good, however some more seasoning would have been even better, the meal also came with mac and cheese which was nice but could’ve been a lot hotter. The Texan toast could’ve been more flavourful as well (my friend got the pancakes and they were so much better!) the chicken was very hot which was good. I was full after this otherwise I would’ve tried the desserts on offer. The bar guy was also really friendly. I would return to try other menu items.

A one off overnight stay. Totally amazing !! We had our overnight stay here, and couldnt fault it ! Food was amazing ! We were lucky and had a Tuesday night ! Low Rider Menu folks !! Buritto was out of this world !! Seiously tempted to try the Chilli with the "Bama " Chilies, but i got feart, and chickened out !! Breakfast the next day was so large !! Pancakes were brill !!Service and staff were awesome ! Very friendly and helpfull !!We look forward to a return visit !!!

We had two vegetarian and one vegan bean & mushroom burrito, with cajun chips. The chips were spiced and tasty, and the burritos were very filling. Very friendly service and great atmosphere.

We are holidaying in Bute as a family and managed to book a table in the bar. From the outside this diner doesn’t look like anything special, but how wrong was I. This is an absolute gem and I would highly recommend a visit. The decor inside was very colourful and there was a wonderful atmosphere. We were greeted with friendly, happy staff. Everyone that served us had a smile on their face. My daughter and I had burgers; husband had burrito. The food was outstanding! My daughter had an amazing milkshake, the best she’s ever had apparently! Thank you for a great evening. If you’re in Bute, this is definitely worth a visit

Visited the diner tonight with young family and had a really tasty dinner with fantastic portion size and the best macaroni cheese I have ever had. Our 2 year old loved it and having lived in a diet of crisps and sweets for last 2 days, we were chuffed that she wolfed it down! Despite the theme, the decor was so new and fresh and we had a laugh at the innuendo on the wall displays! We had a really welcoming reception despite lots of new rules. Thanks, will definitely visit again!

It was a pleasure to visit this quirky and welcoming restaurant. American style food served in a realistically themed diner is not what you expect to find on a quiet Scottish island but it worked. The charming American host made us really welcome and we were sorry not to have managed to spend more time in his eclectically furnished Rockabilly bar. The food in the diner was bang on but the portions were perhaps a tad on the large side, even for us! One of the things that we most enjoyed about Bute was the lack of any chain restaurants or bars thus allowing super individual places like this and others that we visited to thrive. Great stuff.

Superb place really interesting for music and culture....so different to any other bar or grill. Worth the trip to Bute to come here.

Lovely friendly girl served us, timeously and efficiently. Food, as always, amazing. I can't get enough of that fried chicken. Went back again on day2 for another delicious meal and stayed to watch the bands. Brilliant food, service, choice, company, location, yada yada.

Great selection of mouth watering food all cooked to order completely fresh. All as described on menu “and then some” portion sizes are huge! Service was second to none, very attentive, warm, welcoming & friendly staff. Reading other reviews questioning the service from the staff, can’t help but think those reviews are of different places as no issues whatsoever with the 2 staff who served us. Will definitely be back cannot recommend this place enough. Thanks again

Fantastic atmosphere. Good bands, great food. Alot of time and effort put in trying to create something a bit different here on Bute. Brody and his wife and team have effortlessly attempt to bring more customers to our island either from creating this lovely unique themed hotel and creating venues for your pleasure.

Not good for the dieters as this is proper diner food of burgers, fried chicken and burritos but the chicken meal with mac and cheese and Cajun fries was lush. Atmosphere was great too. Visited as a group of 5 with two children (13 and 9) - it was their chosen restaurant.Meals are large and fried. Yes some come with a side salad, but it's minuscule.I was put off slightly when my chicken wrap was delivered and the waitress apologised for the state of it as they had tried to roll it twice and it still didn't work. Lost my appetite at the thought of multiple hands wrapped around my food (I'm sure they were wearing gloves, but still)! Maybe just use another tortilla and hope it works better next time.

The rain forced us to moor our boat at Port Bannatyne for 24hrs. Imagine our surprise when we heard there was an authentic American diner just around the corner. Great decor, authentic tasty food, superb setting and a Cadillac coupe-de-Ville on the driveway outside. All hidden away in a sleepy Scottish island village. Superb and a total surprise. This won’t be our last visit.

went for an anniversary lunch food was lovelly drinks were great, only set back is it is hard to get a wheelchair in without causing chao's in the restuarant to many tables and chairs crammed in not enough space. Unable to take my parents there so they can sample the food because of this

Came here to see a friend who was playing a live set in the lounge. I'd already had a fish supper from Zavaroni's, but when I turned up and saw the menu I had to order something. I chose the Atomic Burger...the waitress warned me it was spicy, and it was - but not too much. The setting was spectacular and the diner fitted out with all kinds of cool toot. An amazing diner and looking forward to eating here again next time I come to Bute.

Really nice place on Bute to eat in a proper american diner. The food is really good, good selection of dishes as well as drinks with having the pub next door. The atmosphere is really nice with very friendly staff. You feel like in a real american diner, lots of fun! We'll definitively be back for dinner and we really want to try the breakfast too. Not the first time and not the last time we'll visit. I just love EVERYTHING on the menu and take ages to choose. Chicken, waffles, cheese, egg, syrup.. You canny go wrong. Burgers, more chicken, pancakes,... Mmmm. Gorgeous retro diner and cool tunes. Friendly helpful staff, and the owners are super cool. Can't wait to go back for the hot rods etc in June.

A proper gem. We were passing through, needed some good food and we're very lucky to find Rockabilly Diner. Food was proper home-cooked American diner fayre - we agreed as we were eating it there had to be someone from across the pond cooking, as having lived in the US, we can confirm you don't get mac and cheese like that made by someone from the UK! Home made burger patties and PBR on tap were a treat too. Lovely service and great decor completed the experience. Don't be fooled by the slightly inauspicious exterior, get in there and enjoy your fix of top quality Americana. Would highly recommend.

1st time visitor to this small island. Our taxi Driver said this was a great place to eat if you like American food! Usually you cannot find truly good American food outside of the USA but this time was different! The food was absolutely amazing, Fried chicken was one of the best I have had in a long time. The kids loved the mac & cheese and hamburgers. Service was great and the atmosphere was fantastic. Fully enjoyed the meal. Highly recommend this diner.

Went on the basis of reviews. I’d like to hope we just picked an off night as our meals certainly didn’t live up to other reviews. I chose fried chicken having seen photos of the meal online. Mine had a really dark brown burnt tasting coating as if fried on too high a heat. The accompanying mac n cheese was just a pot of macaroni which had a bit of cheese microwaved into it, no sauce as it should have. Waitress tried to tell me both items were always served that way. I don’t think so. Nachos looked appetising but the cheese sauce that was dolloped on tasted like a bad packet mix. The only choice that was halfway ok was a burger which one of us chose but even that was way short of the mark. Like I say, maybe an off night and the usual chef was off.

Very poor service! Arrived and the diner was empty minus 1 table being occupied, no waitress/waiter was anywhere to be seen for 30mins after we arrived. The young waitress that attended to us didn’t seem to have any knowledge of the diner or customer service. Starter arrived before our drinks, mains arrived half way through eating starter waitress still gave us the main and asked if we wanted our starters taken away while we were still eating them!! Mains were cold macaroni was like a bowl of mush! Milkshake was warm! Will not be back very disappointed after hearing good reviews.

R&B Rockabilly Diner was suggested by a friend in Rothesay for a hearty breakfast menu so off we went and I’m super glad we did.My friend was over the moon at this trendy diner.Im just surprised I haven’t been before now but I’ll certainly be coming back.As we did come for a breakfast we both had the ‘RoadDog’ , a huge platter of three luscious fluffy pancakes layered with three eggs , three sausages and lashings of bacon and then smothered in a delicious maple syrup.We both looked at the enormity of it and neither of us envisaged finishing it.But....we did ha ha as it was soooooo good!Accompanied by delicious cups of coffee it was truly a breakfast to remember.Decor absolutely fabulous !!!

We have been before the diner part opened, the meals have always been delicious, but the newly opened diner side really does give you the feeling you are back in 60's America! The choice of food is great, you really must try the waffles and chicken, in fact, the pancakes, the burgers, you just can't fault any of it. The fries come in a tasty dusting of Cajun spice, and I had my meal served with a delicious bottle of Elvis juice beer, seemed very apt for the surroundings. We relaxed through in the bar area after the meal, this is very cosy with subdued lighting, the walls are decorated again with memorabilia from all over, and evidence of the live music events that are put on at the weekends. The staff Rima and Brodie are always so welcoming and seem to love getting to know their customers. This place is an absolute must to visit, it's the most genuine American diner you will be to without crossing the big pond. (Only crossing the little one) we wish they would open one in Glasgow, we would be in there all the time. Thanks for another amazing weekend guys.

I have loved this place since it opened on Bute. I dont get to eat there as often as I would like - perhaps just as well :) Fab place for a night out, great atmosphere. Having grown up on Bute in the 60's, this place was a real, and very unexpected eye opener when I recently made one of my infrequent returns to the island. Although part of a large group, along with the usual chaos such a dynamic creates, Brody & the staff were extremely accommodating and friendly, keeping the kitchen open well beyond normal call of duty hours.The food was excellent - none of our party was disappointed with what they had. I went for the Alabama Chilli, which was as hot as promised - and I like my chilli hot, although fortunately, no next day regrets. I spoke with Brody about the meal after and he told me it is made with Bhut Jolokia, aka Ghost Chilli - until a few years ago the hottest chilli you could grow - and it certainly felt like it - definitely burning hot but not agonising, so for aficionados,a definite must try experience.And then there is the bar - a pure bonus over and above the food, with Brody expertly keeping the lubrication flowing against a very heavy demand amidst a decor that my 1960's self would have positively died for to experience. All in all, an excellent night, and my one regret is that my short visit to the island limited me to only that one night. A definite 10/10 and a definite revisit on the cards for next time on Bute.

Stopped at this place on our way back from Rothesay. What a great place! The diner is just amazing. Looks as though it is brand new. So many cool details. Sorry to say that we did not have time to eat hereAlso loved the bar in conjunction with the diner. A must see! The band is skeletons, chair that is a high heel shoe and much more. They are both well worth a visit.

Great diner with great decor, friendly service and interesting menu. We had a great meal at a reasonable price and then went to watch the band next door at the Scottish Honky Tonk. We'll definitely be back! Have since been back again twice and tried different dishes from the menu that were all lovely. The service is excellent and the waitress advised what ingredients were in our chosen meals incase we were allergic or simply didn't like something. Spot on.

Excellent night out, with live bands on a Saturday night. Very warm welcome from the wonderful staff. We loved this place and we wish we came in here for a meal. Loved the atmosphere and the cheerful colourful decor, with intriguing items on displayed on the walls. This is such a cool bar with cool people. Loved it and we will definitely come back.

I have to confess, having looked at the leaflet menu, I really wasn't inspired to go here. However, the kids wanted to go so off we want. As soon as we walked through the door, my mind completely changed. What a FANTASTIC place!!!!!Great people - very welcoming, varied menu (much more on offer than the leaflet menu I'd seen) and an absolutely fantastic atmosphere (helped by the music which was at just the right enjoyment/conversation level)The food was really nice - very different for Bute, but really nice and reasonably priced. We did have to wait a while for our meal to come out, but it's all home made and home cooked so that's totally fine.Well done, Rockabilly's. We have family on the Island so will definitely be back!

Been meaning to come here since I arrived ten weeks ago on the island. Since then I've jealously listened to reviews from friends and colleagues who had eaten here. Expectations were very high and it paid off. My dinner partner and I had the fried chicken breast, she had pancakes and I had waffles and it came with mac and cheese. I'm a mac and cheese connoisseur and oh, man! It was delightful. The chicken breast was succulent and moist and very tasty. The decor in the diner is awesome, very fresh and clean and the bar is something special too. You wouldn't expect a place like this in sleepy Port Bannatyne.The owners Brodie and Rima have done really well here and should be very pleased with themselves.

My compliments to Brody , the food and atmosphere were excellent, large portions which we couldn't finish, so placed in a takeaway box. I would recommend the chicken meal for 4, definitely authentic in every way... Well done Brody!!!

A short drive along the water front from Rothesay into Ardbeg you will find this beautiful little place.The diner is excellent and superbly decorated - so a big well done for that.After you’ve enjoyed your meal wander through to the bar and say a big ‘praise the Lord’ to Brody behind the bar, an excellent host who puts in a lot of effort to bring a bit of Alabama sunshine to the island.There is live entertainment on Saturday nights and I would urge anyone visiting Bute to get along and join in the fun

Never had food but the owner showed us around the restuarant. The bar has an atmosphere of its own. The live bands were brilliant. If travelling to Bute this is a must.

Where else can you find posters of Johnny Cash, Elvis, James Dean and Valentina Tereshkova (1st woman cosmonaut) in the same room? Great portions of freshly cooked home-made burgers, fried chicken and sandwiches not for the faint-hearted. Bright, friendly and on-your-toes Music. Regular live music in the bar.

Enjoyed visit to this diner. Food was great with plenty of choice. Service was excellent. Music playing on jukebox made it very authentic.

Ordered a takeaway meal for 6pm took at least 15 minutes to get home it was still very hot and have to say it was delicious ordering was easy and the staff were very helpful and dealt with any queries I had .Certainly worth a visit and a brilliant menu which caters for everyone

We were amazed at the menu - there's so much on it - it was tough deciding what to have.We opted in the end for a chicken burrito with Cajun fries and chili cheese and bacon burger with Cajun fries. We were lucky in that we got our orders in just before large party. The service was with a smile from a lovely friendly waitress who made us feel really welcome. The food came in very reasonable time and my the portions!I'm very choosy about burgers and generally don't have them unless they're home made, which this was. It was just like my own burgers, which is a definite compliment. The chili on the burger was great and the fries crispy and just enough spiciness.My wife enjoyed her chicken burrito and fries too.We left satisfied and would definitely go there again.

Went to the Diner on Sunday night and had the amazing Atomic Burger. Nice and spicy and a great feed. The deserts were fantastic, hot cookies with ice cream.....nice......Service was nice and friendly and the decor is great, a conversational piece on every wall. Juke box and sounds provided a great atmosphere. Only down side was we were the only 2 in the whole diner and it felt a bit empty. This place has it all and if the food and service is anything to go by it should be packed every night. Well done folks, keep it up

WOW! What a place! Amazing decor and atmosphere in this wee Bute Gem of a diner. Great food and an excellent, very polite young man served us with a smile and a lovely American accent. Burgers were 100% beef and extremely tasty and the Cajun Chips were to die for! Burritos were ginormous and very tasty. Lots of veggie options as well. We would highly recommend this Rockabilly American Diner in Port Bannatyne.

This place is amazing for decor, and atmosphere. The 10 of us plus 2 children booked a table for 6:30pm by the time we got our mains it was 8:15pm. It was a very slow service - which is disappointing.Then we were so hungry we ate them super quick, ordered our dessert at 9pm. Half of us got our order within 10minutes and the other 4 didn’t get mains till 9:30pm after a mistake in the kitchen.Slow service, staff weren’t really around and seemed distant with customers. Never apologised for the long wait- and for I just a small place we did expect a quicker service.The food was amazing, and we’d come again. Just be warned for little ones it’s hard to keep them entertained for so long without them getting grouchy waiting for the food.

This is the second time i have visited the diner and have to say the goid is good and portions are big. We asked for pancakes for desert and ive never seen such a huge plate of 3 pancakes wish i had taken a picture. Also the milkshakes are fab too. All in all great place for food if i have abit of criticism ive been twice now and both times the heating could be up abit it is abit chilly.

We had sailed into Port Bannatyne and were looking for dinner. The local pub was full so we walked to this restaurant. What a surprise. A piece of authentic 50s Americana on a Bute. The decor was authentic and atmospheric. Food and service were excellent. We had a chat to the owner and found out how an American had ended up on this tiny island. If you’re on Bute ,definitely try this. An unexpected pleasure on a remote Scottish island. I wish them well.
