Always lovely. Never had a bad meal from here at all. Chicken Tenders are outstanding.

Stayed in the Royal Hotel overnight for work, me and my work colleague had the chicken tenders and minestrone soup for starters, steak pie and chips, fish and chips for mains then i had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert, the food was absolutely amazing, perfect sized portions, the staff were lovely and very helpful. Would highly recommend this restaurant. 10/10 👌

We were disipointed last year with the food leaving a poor review, which I can now say I have deleted. We have been numerous times this year and have been impressed by the quality and taste of the dishes we have had.

We dined here on a quiet Saturday night. We ordered steaks and mussels; the mussels were good, the steaks were tasty enough but arguably a little overpriced for quality. Choice of wine was good though (particularly enjoyed the Cabernet Franc), service great too.

5 star hotel but certainly not 5 star food. Had a chicken dish swimming with some horrible gravy yuk and not much chicken. .The young girls were friendly but dear me can someone please train them in dining room etiquette. Not good, come on Harbour view Grille get a grip

I had read other reviews regarding the service so was a bit reluctant to go here however, we found the waiting staff to be friendly and attentive. Typical pub grub, big portions and decent. I had the Mexican nachos which were actually great followed by the roasted cod on risotto. The cod was nice the risotto wasn't really risotto just flavoured long grain rice but still tasty. My husband had the Cullen skink and scampi which were good. It's not fine dining which is reflected in the price but lovely staff, pleasant decor and decent food.

Always liked to have a meal in The Harbour View Grillroom when visiting Campbeltown. However, when visiting today, I was horrified to find a glass doored fridge in the bar/restaurant with huge cuts of raw beef on display. As a vegetarian this was totally off puting and quite frankly was out of place. Why? Why was it there? As usual food and service was very good but that fridge put me completely off. Surely I am not the only one to point this out. Please get rid of it.

I had been avoiding coming here again as the service was always notoriously bad... well tonight was no different! We arrived 10 minutes before our booking time yet it still took 50 minutes for our order to arrive (it wasnt even busy in the slightest!), we were seated at a dirty table (the place was dead so no excuse!), had to go and ask for someone to take our drinks order! I stated on the booking it was for '2 people plus a highchair' - still waiting on the highchair!! Luckily the people beside us had one but weren't using it, and we quickly realised why - cheap awful crap that was absolutely no use to no toddler. Had to then ask for a children's menu. I'm still waiting for the juice and ice cream for the wee one that the menu stated came with the children's meal! We then AGAIN had to go and ask for more drinks as the waitresses were too busy standing chatting to their friends and eating sweeties to bother actually doing their job - not a one off event!! Just as well we didn't want dessert as no one came anywhere near us the entire time, except to give us our meals. I usually clean up as much as I can, especially with the wee one throwing food; I've worked in this industry for years and know how helpful it is - not tonight I didn't since the food from the previous customers was still under the table so I thought why should I bother. I really don't know why I bother to even entertain this place - so many complaints of this exact thing have went to management yet NOTHING gets done!! It's a shame, as the food is bloody good. But I guess that's what happens when the owner of the establishment is American and is never bloody here to bother training the staff nor their managers that they apparently trust!!! Absolute shambles of a place.

stumbled across this restaurant and I was amazed by the service! The lovely waitress Amy served us with a big smile and more than happy to answer our questions, would recommend and fast service!

Great place to take family, friends,great food, service is very good and the atmosphere is brilliant. Definitely go back.

Highly recommend the haggis and bacon with Pepper corn sauce pizza

Had fish and chips and was great, no problems.

Hands down the worst Xmas dinner I’ve ever been severed. Started with lukewarm soup more on the cold side then the turkey was dry , the veg was raw & uncooked we couldn’t get the fork into the sprouts & carrots, stuffing stone cold must have kept that in the fridge , gravy was see through like water. On the plus side the 1 Roast potato we got was lovely so whoever was in charge of the potato the only hot thing on the plate I hope they get a promotion to head chef as they seem to be the only one that got the memo. (Serve Dinner Hot) Then to give the benefit of the doubt 8 of the family went back on the 4th Jan only for 2 of us to be served cold food again of which they did remake and was fine, but by time we got it , everyone else was completely finished and we ate on our own. How it’s possible to serve cold food on two separate occasions in this day and age when a food thermometer should register over 75 oC to make sure that all food is cooked through properly and bacteria is killed and the foods piping hot. The desserts were absolutely delicious. I’ve eaten in here over many years but the standard is at the lowest it’s ever been. To end on a high the waiting staff were excellent, very polite and attentive and look after us very well. Writing this on here as the head office was sent an email but here we are in February and no reply They obviously have the same attitude as the kitchen staff , keep everyone in the cold just like the food 🥶

The steak was sold out so I ordered something else. The ribs were very tender, but I was disappointed that there was no steak on the grill.

Amazing friendly staff, gorgeous food, well worth the visit

Has to be one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. You can read my review, it's not to dissimilar to other recent reviews, everyone is saying the same thing really. I'll start from the beginning....dirty cutlery, table was still sticky and not properly dressed with salt, pepper or even a candle for atmosphere....but maybe that's the idea,. because there isn't much atmosphere in the place. The loudest people in the restaurant was the staff, never a good sign unless they're really doing a job of entertaining. The food 😕 nope, nope... never should you be charged these prices for food thats coming straight from the freezer. Honestly the local chipper would do better and probably fresher food. I only had the scampi and it was absolutely dreadful. 4 of us at the table and none of us finished the meal. I've worked in restaurants before and I honestly would pity the person that goes in here and would trust the kitchen to cook a £49 10oz fillet steak to perfection, because if that's the price your gonna charge it'd better be bloody perfect. Staff had very little knowledge as to what was going on. I knew we were onto a bad one from the start after overhearing the staff asking 'did anyone check if table 8 paid the bill before they left? 😂 And I wouldn't have blamed them if they didn't. We had to repeatedly ask for water, salt & pepper. Even watched the staff turn away customers (they don't know how lucky they were) when we could see tables free, even those GH they had yet to be cleared (they stay like that throughout our time there). At no time were we checked in on or even offered a look at the desert menu, so we gladly escaped before we most likely subjected ourselves to some mass produced frozen desserts. Upon paying the bill and being asked if everything was ok we told them no, but staff had no interest in listening or going further with the conversation either. Dining in a restaurant should be a pleasant experience, whether that comes from the staff, or the food it should be something that you enjoy. Starts with management showing the floor staff and the kitchen staff the levels of it because expectation and standards required, none of that is displayed here at the Harbourview Grille. Do better or customers will stay away

We went for a 40th anniversary dinner. The food was mediocre, too salty, which we were told no salt was added, but it definitely was too salty. We weren't asked if everything was ok. Kept waiting for ages for the bill. So poor we didn't bother with desert. Please look after your customers if you want them to return.

Great local seafood, excellent service and for once the music playlist is great - classic era rock and pop!

It was the perfect dinner after our Spring Bank Distillery tour. The seafood was very fresh and the pasta and ribs were fantastic. Several draft beers and whiskeys are also available. Highly recommended.

Shocking! Arrived at a pre-booked table which was not set properly no water glasses or condiments. Only cutlery which it transpired was obviously left by the previous diners as it was dirty. Firstly I was somewhat surprised at the extortionate prices of the menu. Offered an alcohol free drink then was told it wasn't available. Asked for a jug of water received a glass of water with a straw. Got a bottle of cider no glass offered. Starters were ok had to ask for glasses & a jug of water again and also salt and pepper. Starter was advertised as prawn cocktail with crusty bread, arrived with sliced bread not crusty, no side plates. Asked for butter, waitress brought out two pats of butter in her hand. Three of the main meals were scampi. It was atrocious, obviously frozen and reconstituted a la Breke brothers. Definitely not the whole tail. The other was haddock, supposedly in beer batter. Seriously tasteless, even emptying half the salt dispenser onto it, it remained tasteless. Not at all a beer batter. Menu said mushy peas we got plain frozen garden peas, and a veritable mountain of thick tasteless chips. Left waiting for an age after we were obviously finished eating. We eventually just got up and paid. Onto the staffing. Dreadful service, young, inexperienced, and more important, very obviously disinterested. Talking loudly to each other, totally disorganised, not clearing tables, a large amount of dirty glasses left pilling up at the end of the bar. As previously stated after the mains we were just abandoned never offered any dessert coffee or further drink. Watched while they turned people away while they had empty but uncleared tables. When we voiced our dissatisfaction upon paying, the disinterested waitress became positively snippy. No attempt to address any of the issues, not even an 'I'm sorry you're not happy'. Her attitude was just short of aggressive. In general they were disinterested and apathetic. Only one of the waitresses showed any kind of ability at all. Probably one of the worst eating experiences I've ever had at reprehensible prices for what was offered.

One of the cozier restaurants in Campbeltown with both typical pub grub and a few more creative dishes to change things up. The staff was kind enough, too. The quality of the food was good, but no ‘wow factor’. Many restaurants in hotels in rural Scotland tend to be not very cozy. This restaurant has a nice seating area and stands apart in this aspect.

I don't know what happened to this place but the quality of the meals are so low. They using off the shelf ingredients. Tastes really bad. My children can cook better. No quality ingredients are used here. Don't bother

Great restaurant in the heart of Campbeltown! Had the Hot salmon & mussels linguini and my other half had the chicken tenders. Decor is very upmarket & I thought I was dining somewhere much more expensive. Staff were friendly and accommodating, especially as we were a walk-in. Would 100% recommend.

Friendly and quick, if amateur, service from the schoolgirl staff and a half decent sauce on the chicken curry. Other than that, everything was simply cheap wholesale ready made ingredients way over cooked and crudely presented at ridiculously high prices. Recipes for big profits: Starters. Take a packet of really salty ‘nacho’ crisps cover in ready made salty cheese sauce, sprinkle with gritty, all salt and oatmeal, haggis; leave to soak and set for several hours, then reheat. Buy 1 small readymade fish cake keep warm until dry right through; serve with lots of salad to fill the plate. Mains: Buy those sealed packets of spare ribs (from god knows what Far Eastern pig factory) that have soaked in their artificial bbq sauce for weeks; microwave and pour over frozen chips, with a tub of supermarket coleslaw. Take a reasonable curry sauce and ruin it by pouring over tough, cheap pre cooked chicken. Won’t be going again!

Very dissapointed with lunch on sat 15thapril .I go every saturday with my sister but sadly will not be eating lunch in harbourvew grille again.Prices are really overboard now and less on plate.I know costs have risen but i fail to see how they can justify those prices

Went for lunch on Saturday as we do every Saturday for the past year...price for a panini with a small bowl of coleslaw £13 ..and to top it all the filling wasnt what I asked for.When I asked where the salad was which I get every saturday was told salad is extra...not the waitress fault but the management .very disappointed so will not be eating there again

Good but not even close to what I anticipated. American investment into a Scottish hotel (for golfers primarily) with a grille meant only one thing - great meat! Nope. Very simple. Safe menu.

My partner had the chicken parmesan and I had scampi. Absolutely fantastic, quick service and friendly staff. Portion sizes are spot on. My only gripe is that I didn't go for the chicken parmesan it looked amazing.

Dropped in here for mid-morning tea and coffee. Smart and pleasant surroundings, friendly and quick service. Would recommend.

I tried that restaurant twice. Wasn't busy but we were waiting ages for service. Young staff focused on cleaning cutlery not on castumers. And food was disgusting. First time I had fish and chips and I was sick after that. Second time I had sweet and spicy chicken tenders which were salty and unable to eat. My friend had chicken balmoral and sos was also too salty. I wasn't feel after that visit too. Avoid that place!

Part of the group that owns the old clubhouse but not as good in our view. Huge, huge portions and very friendly service but the food could be better. Nothing terrible - good honest grub but lacks a wee bit of finesse.

Nice place, cousy. At lunch time, I noticed plenty of women sitting while there were not men. The burger was very good but the bun a bit dry.

Food was delicious... very tasty and piping hot. One of our party is coeliac.. and staff talked him through the gluten free options and double checked with the kitchen.... Staff were friendly and courteous. Portions were a decent size..

Surprising! We didn’t expect much from this little pub, but the veggie pizza was excellent & so was the veggie burger: meaty (not just a mushroom!) & stacked with extras, all at a reasonable price. Recommend :)

Very disappointed, waited over 45 mins for our 3 meals to arrive and my lasagne was burnt and dry and very tastless, the pizza was not cooked right and very greasy and the burger was like rubber and dry. Sadly won't be visiting again.

Nice restaurant in the middle of Campbeltown down by the harbour. Waiting staff were very welcoming and attentive. Huge portion sizes, the World Famous Haggis Nachos are definitely worth an order, although would recommend sharing! Good whisky selection behind the bar, along with local beers.

Very good restaurant in Campbeltown. Real cotton napkins you get water and complimentary bread and olives. The world famous Haggis Nachos plate is a must to try.

After reading the trip advisor reviews we opted to share the haggis nachos to start and we weren’t disappointed! We also enjoyed nice main courses and wine. Service was good and the place had a good atmosphere. Would return if visiting Campbeltown again.
