Only found this place in July have been almost every week since , the best pizza on the island of Ireland, other dishes are of top quality, staff warm , friendly & attentive, this place is a real find, I travel a lot and eat out all over the world, firebox is up there with the best, and sadly this comes to an end December 24 as it closes. I'm so ,so 😢

Arrived on a Tuesday afternoon after finding alot of eateries and chip shops closed on the Ards Penninsula, had been out for a drive. They were not too busy at the time we arrived so plenty of tables available and lunch menu was still running up to 3pm, their closing time in that day. There is down stairs and upstairs tables and a couple of small tables outside at the front. Nice menu with range of starters, mains and desserts. Also scones and cakes and trays on offer as well as cold drinks, tea and coffee. We wanted to have something to take away, expecting to be offered sandwiches but we were given the full lunch menu. We had their burger and chips, flat bread with sweet chilli chicken and veg with chips and lasagne, salad and chips. We couldn't resist their sweet treats either and ordered apple sponge cake, caramel cheesecake and a peanut slice. The food was excellent, good portions and taste. My lasagne was one of the best I've ever had! As usual I forgot to take pictures. All of it was polished off and the desserts were homemade and delicious. Highly recommend a visit and we will definitely be back.

Want a change of menu? Had Chinese, Indian, Italian, and all the local food? Well what about Dutch? A very interesting and different menu for any meal. Generous helpings of quality food, in Netherlands style; and served by friendly people who give the customer attention and the young waitress who served us was exceedingly nice too. The tray bakes were also delightful, as well as the cooked food. I recommend trying this interesting place for a change; and probably, like me, and those I was with, you will want to return again, and try some other delightful items on the menu.

Been a few times and always good & food lovely. Unfortunately we had my Mum with us for Mother's Day lunch last fri. My mum had the small portion of fish & mash while my husband had fish & chips. I had a burger & chips. My husband just cut the fish in half and found a hair. Manager was very responsive and apologised and said it would be deducted from bill. I had almost finished my meal & there was a hair on my plate. Again manager was called. Offered us something else but I'd had enough. Two meals deducted from bill. Thankfully my mums was fine. We left and called to Cuan in Kircubbin for tea & traybakes which was lovely.

The Wildfowler has been closed well over a year! The owner should update or remove the restaurant from online pages. Very sad. I remember this was a great place even when I was young. It would be amazing to see it re-open, the fact that it was dog friendly added to the appeal. A terrible loss on the peninsula

Just to be clear, this is a takeaway with a few tables inside and I only tried the pizza. They don't have a very traditional pizza menu list (I guess it's tailored to the locals) however this is by far the best pizza I had since I moved to Northern Ireland 12 years ago. Been Italian and going back home several times a year, I am reluctant t to order Italian food in NI but their pizza has nothing to envy to the Italian one! I will be back.
