Lekker Kitchen Cafe in Ards

Want a change of menu? Had Chinese, Indian, Italian, and all the local food? Well what about Dutch? A very interesting and different menu for any meal. Generous helpings of quality food, in Netherlands style; and served by friendly people who give the customer attention and the young waitress who served us was exceedingly nice too. The tray bakes were also delightful, as well as the cooked food. I recommend trying this interesting place for a change; and probably, like me, and those I was with, you will want to return again, and try some other delightful items on the menu.

My mum and I were coming to watch a 10k here, mainly I was coming for the food as I was hungry lol! We came to lekker and we’re greeted by 2 lovely ladies and I’m guessing one of their daughters, they told us they were doing hotdogs and chips and I was tempted to try! Their outside seating was so so cute and their inside had such a great aesthetic, shoutout to the ladies for this amazing meal, even if I was a few quid short they were so generous so give !!

I visit LEKKER at least once a week with family members and friends - usually Sunday morning - and I very much look forward to it, the staff are amazing especially Lorraine, Katie and Lewis who ALWAYS do their best to ensure we have a great experience "..at's the truth....". I normally opt for the Poached Eggs, Sour Dough and Bacon with Peanut Rayu - 110% every time.... ! Ron's "Specials" board has some interesting combinations and def worth a look. Best to get in early as usually by the time we leave there is a queue waiting for seats, another great sign that things are being done right !! Might be slightly pricier than some other local places but you get what you pay for in comfortable surroundings with character & lovely original art work - love the Penguin Book Cover !!!! , and I don't mind paying a bit more - always top notch. PS. The cappuccinos are tip top Lorraine ! See you soon guys........

I love Lekker, awesome food, fantastic staff, great tunes, great atmosphere. We have never had a bad meal or experience and we have been coming here for years. Weekly!

Arrived around 2.30pm, no greeting from staff but instead told us only tea or coffee as closing soon!! That was fine as all we wanted was a coffee and a tray bake. Moved towards a quiet table in the corner, to be told we couldn’t seat there as closing soon!! Sat down at a different table, 2 staff behind the counter, older woman with brown hair walked away, no one took or order. We walked out, young girl did ask if something was wrong as we walked out. The main reason we walked out was the older woman attitude. She is abrupt, unfriendly. We have been visiting this cafe a few years but we won’t be back. The owners need to have a serious chat with this member of staff, she is costing the business money by putting people off. The chef (owner) is in the kitchen and perhaps not aware of the way she greats the customers, in or case not even a greeting, just what we could have!

The food was amazing and the blonde haired woman was so polite however the dark haired woman was extremely impolite and had horrific customer services which was really disappointing because the other woman was really lovely and the food is amazing- I won’t be returning

Just stumbled upon this gem. Great wee place. Menu is eclectic.. Including Dutch pancakes and waffles. Coffee is strong and great. Scones are huge and delicious. Plate sizes are huge! Open Wed to Sunday Spoli yourself and go!

My wife and I called in to one of our favourite Kitchen Cafes in Greyabbey. Lekker is a must visit cafe and regularly offers "special pancakes" - todays pancake included festive offerings of bacon, brie cheese, pigs in blankets, red currants and cranberry sauce. Really tasty and beautifully presented.

My wife and I called in today for lunch and each ordered "Todays Special" - Pancake with bacon, pumpkin and blue cheese. We both agreed that they were filling and delicious. A really special meal with a special twist. Followed up with a meringue topped cherry tart each. We will be back.

Went to Greyabbey for antique shops-disappointing. Rescued by this cafe. Good coffee ,superb scones and excellent value. Don't miss it.

Even the bathrooms are worth a visit to get some Northern European recipe ideas! As well as daily specials, the menu features favourites such as Homemade Rye Bread, toasted and smothered with smashed avocado and pistachio dukkah (we had poached eggs on ours), and Pannenkoeken; enormous fluffy Dutch pancakes topped with a variety of sweet or savoury options. We plumped for the Edam & Mushroom, replacing the ham with red onion relish to create a veggie version. With plenty of delicious breakfast and lunchtime dishes, great artisan tea & coffee, fabulous sweet treats, and a unique menu with plenty of interesting and tasty choices, Lekker is heerlijk! Called for lunch yesterday and ordered the special (Breakfast Burger) £10.00 was well worth the money and scrumptious. The Cafe was busy so I thought we would be waiting a while and to my Suprise service was quick and efficient. Will definately be back and happy to recommend to friends.

Called in on the way to the ferry home and had an all round fabulous brunch. The food, the service, the atmosphere and the facilities were all top quality. Despite being busy, the staff were helpful and efficient. Cannot score it highly enough, delicious.

Called in today for breakfast and we both had the healthy breakfast. The food was lovely and they we not too busy and no cyclists! Lovely place to have food and some of their special looked very tempting. A very nice varied menu and their Dutch pancakes are so special

The food in this place is mediocre. It lacks authenticity. It is greasy, bland and uninspired. Don´t order coffee as it is like water. And don´t mention anything about the food suggesting it is not good because you get attitude and rude replies. Avoid.

Second time there this morning. Food was cold, bland and not great value. Coffee was like hot milk, waitress made some excuse and was not very helpful or friendly. In fact she seemed offended that I would even make a complaint. Will not be going back.

The staff all very friendly and helpful. The food was 5 star and beautifully presented., a unique experience. The ambience was great. We will be making this a regular stop off. A varied and unique menu, only regret I didn't take a photograph to post.

We just love Lekker and have missed being able to go for cinnamon scones, breakfasts etc but are delighted that we can still enjoy the wonderful food as take away. Same excellent quality as ever. Can't wait to sit in though.

Amazing food! I went last week and had the most amazing goats cheese and black olive tapenade with sourdough and the tomato salad and it was delicious! They were so generous with the portion sizes. The staff were also really accommodating with my nut allergies....

We have visited a number of times now between breakfast and lunch. The food is always fresh with a dutch theme. Tasty, beautifully presented and no skimping on anything. My favourite is sourdough bread with ham, mustard gouda cheese. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Coffee has flavour. It is a small venu but worth the wait if it is busy.

This is a small restaurant with simple furnishing that delivers excellent food and a reasonable range from a small kitchen. Value for money is good especially given the quality of the ingredients. Definitely will return.

Food was lovely and very quick. Pancakes were so fluffy and light. Only thing that brought down the score was the slow service out front. We sat down and a couple of waitresses walked by us numerous of times until we had to get up and ask for a menu.

I have to admit this is one of my regular visits on the Ards Peninsula situated in Greyabbey village, Lekker offers a lovely twist to breakfast lunch or brunch - Influenced as it is by its Dutch co-owner “Nanda” with food executed perfectly by her partner “Ron”. You will not be disappointed by the dishes on offer nor the staff who work there, both will make you smile. It is very popular and can be busy at peak times so you may have a short wait to get a seat but trust me it’s well worth it - Enjoy I know I do

The breakfasts here are delicious. The sourdough toast, poached eggs and bacon are my favourite. The best sourdough toast I’ve had anywhere. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Small place so can get busy but I’ve always got a seat quickly and you aren’t being rushed out. Takes cash only though so don’t forget before you sit down.

We've been here many times before, but had a gap of several months due to work and family commitments. It's as good as ever. Great menu, good food, excellent presentation. My only criticism is the portion size - portions are generous and you will not leave hungry.

Visited this morning and was blown away. The breakfast pancake was delicious, the drinks we had were great. Staff were really friendly, decor was quirky / rustic and adds to the Dutch feel. Will definitely visit again and will buy the homemade tomato chutney to take back home.

We came across this restaurant when looking for somewhere to get lunch visiting Greyabbey for the day. What a find. Their menu is a blend of Dutch and Northern Ireland. An interesting and varied fayre with daily specials. Homemade bread and proper sausages and bacon. We called back later for coffee and Dutch waffle. Coffee was excellent, freshly ground. The staff were fantastic and very friendly. Would recommend as a stop for anyone heading down the Ards peninsula.

Great find with good choice of coffees/teas and super tasty baked treats - lemon/berry scone was delicious, as were raspberry/almond slice and flapjack.

What a fabulous find this was, only a couple of minutes walk from where we were staying. Was busy from the minute we walked in but found a table. Was a good sign considering people were prepared to wait outside until a table became available! Probably one of the best breakfasts I have had in a long time, food cooked to perfection, and staff could not do enough for you! Thank you for a very pleasurable experience.

Impromptu visit for a late breakfast. Delicious smells on entry, full of satisfied customers chowing down on a fusion of Dutch & Irish breakfasts. Friendly staff, great selection. Don’t like to give a 5/5 first time but I’m sure it will get full marks next time.

My wife and went here this morning for the first time and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast. I had the healthy cooked breakfast and my wife had a special with poached eggs, avocado, feta cheese, pesto and sourdough. Both were superb and used high quality produce. Coffee was also very good and my wife declared the hot chocolate one of the best.

Lekker serves real good food, a real gem in a lovely Ards Peninsula village! The menu offers real Dutch pancakes and breakfasts but has a daily changing menu that is very much worth a try every time! Home made sourdough toast with various toppings, home made soups and scones. They use local ingredients and often surprise with delicacies such as crispy dulse. The service is excellent and very warm. Very recommended

We went there the other week, we all had the Healthy Breakfast, and it Was something Special, a Real Butchers Sausage not the usual catering guff, Nice Bacon not to salty, sourdough bread, Nice tomato, and a Really Good poached egg, nice pot of tea also, they currently don't have a Card machine so it's Cash Only at Preaent, but the Postoffice is just up the road, so easy to get hold of the folding Money, So Good food, Well cooked, at an Honest Price, What more Could you ask for, & the Saff are Very friendly !

We called in to Lekker on a wet Friday for lunch. Two had the Hallumi Salad and the others had the Flamenco Eggs. Everyone raved about their food.... it was delicious . The service was amazing, like visiting a good friend. My husband loved the Dutch Coffee so much he brought packets home. We all said we would definitely be back.

Lovely little cafe great menu .. so nice to be offered a pot of coffee for two ... this never happens! Then it just got better when the scones arrived ... they were pretty amazing and 6 hours later we are still talking about them!!

Me and my husband have visited this lovely cafe a few times. Friendly staff, got a table straight away as not too busy. Had poached eggs with sour dough and it was delicious. Scones are lovely too. Only down side is the price of some items on the menu can be expensive.

Very nice brunch. Recommend the smashed avocado with crispy egg. Food much better than in some of the hipster cafes in Belfast. Dutch slant on some of the dishes is different and coffee and tea are good. Will be back!

Met up for a 10am breakfast, cafe had just begun to fill. We were seated immediately accommodating a party of 5. Menus delivered upon seating and given time to view. Very friendly service and worked with our requirements to add a few things/remove an item from our choices. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Drinks orders taken also, delivered soon after. Must say that my coffee (single origin cafetière which served 2 and a bit cups) was one of the nicest coffees I’ve tried in ages. Great strength and flavour. My breakfast arrived, sourdough toast topped with smashed avocado, poached eggs and siracha sauce. Fancied some black pudding, so an additional side order was requested. All food was tasty, well presented and of a great quality. Very impressed. Plates cleared and plenty of chatting time to aid finishing my coffee. I fancied a wee sweet treat for later in the day, so purchased one of the homemade stroopwaffels. As I write this I’ve just had it with a coffee, my home coffee, not as good as theirs, and the waffle is also great!! This place is doing something very right. Good food, friendly attentive service, relaxed atmosphere. The 30 mile round trip was well worth it.

This is a homely, family-run business in the middle of Greyabbey village. Well worth a visit for breakfast, lunch or wonderfully tasty home-made scones and a coffee after Christmas shopping.

If you just want a lovely fry you can get it. But the Dutch delicacies are amazing various pancakes atoasted does .with varietys of toppings.staff friendly and helpful.

Having heard a lot of great reports about Lekker we decided to give it a go. We visited Mount Stewart National Trust property and carries on down to Greyabbey to visit Lekker.

I always enjoy this cafe for breakfast or lunch. Quality of food is great. Welcoming little cafe and worth a visit.

We popped in here today for a late breakfast and it was really great. The menu is a little different with a Dutch theme and was very busy which is always a good sign. We both had the Lekker healthy breakfast and it blew me away! It was much nicer than I expected and the relish was perfect with it. My wife isn't a black pudding fan so I ate hers too.

Great little cafe, with a menu that offers something different from the rest. I think the key to this place is great ingredients cooked well. Keep it up.

We have been here twice in the last couple of weeks. Firstly we went for coffee and a scone/piece of cake. The lemon drizzle cake was lovely and moist and the scone was soft and fresh. My husband had one of their Danish coffees which is a very strong coffee with a caramel waffle on top which gets soft with the steam.

We were told on arrival that there was a reduced menu due to Ron, the chef being off sick. We all chose the bap filled with fried egg, bacon and sausage. It was disappointing to learn that there was no sausage, especially since their is an excellent butcher across the road, but we were compensated by extra bacon. It was delicious! Egg cooked to perfection, tasty bread and crispy bacon, accompanied by an interesting side salad. My friends shared a lemon drizzle slice, which looked gorgeous. Get well soon Ron. We will be back!

The Dutch coffee is very morish. Limited menu as chef is off due to illness but still there is a very good choice. Definitely be back.

I had really looked forward to this visit and was not disappointed by really good coffee in a lovely cafe. Staff were also delightful which often seems an adddd bonus these days. I opted for a veggie pancake and expected something fine at almost £10. I was sadly disappointed at what turned out to be 1 pancake, albeit plate sized with a sliced tomato and what looked liked barely two sliced, grilled mushrooms. A bit of cheddar and some sweet chutney completed the pancake. Despite being hungry I couldn’t finish this as it was so lifeless and uninteresting. I actually liked lekker and hope it survives but at these prices I am doubtful. I’ve been to better cafes and had much more for much less. The saving grace was the coffee which was a mighty brew.

We visited Lekker Kitchen Café yesterday and the food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation. We especially enjoyed the Dutch Pancakes and how the Chef infused all the ingredients to make delicious mouth-watering meals. As you enter the this establishment you are welcomed by a magnificent setting, a delightful marriage of rustic Dutch with the luxuries of modernity. Sitting at any table you have a wonderful view of the kitchen where you can observe the Chef preparing the food. The staff are very friendly and made us very welcome. We had a very pleasant dining experience with food of the most exquisite flavours. For this reason I highly recommend going to the Lekker Kitchen Café.

Lovely weekend drive to Greyabbey. And into Lekker. Cosy place with open kitchen. The owner asked if we wanted a sample of the soup of the day. A really nice touch. Both of us went for the specials. Both were outstanding. Spicy chorizo, eggs, avocado, hollandaise sauce. And I'm not even fussed on avocado. But it was delicious. We drove from Belfast to try the food and were very very happy. Great friendly staff. And great great food. I want them to open another Lekker in my area. We would never be away from it. So try to yourselves.

The cafe itself is lovely and quirky & I can't compliment the food highly enough - home made waffles, pancakes, scones etc as well as the best cooked breakfasts you'll ever have..served with Ron's homemade relish - gorgeous! - and the dutch apple cake...scrummy! I also have to mention Kirsty who always looks after the customers so well. Lekker K. C. is the perfect little place for a bite to eat!!

Honestly, one of the best restaurants I have been too. The place itself is cosy and modern, but the best part of this place is the food. The food is perfect and staff are really nice. The wait on the food is a bit long but it’s so worth it.

This excellent little restaurant boasts superb food, cosy dutch-themed surroundings, personal, friendly service and some whopping big pancakes that'll blow your clogs off. No matter whether it's early morning or late afternoon nearly everything on the menu is tempting at any time of day. I go regularly and the only thing I've ever been disappointed by was my tiny stomach capacity for not being able to accommodate the smorgasbord of, honestly, scrumdiddlyupmtious meals and snacks.

Best little treasure on the ARDS peninsula. My daughter and I go every week on my day off, lunch is always delicious with something different on the menu each week. Kirsty and Nanda are always welcoming, and we enjoy hearing about kirsty's gorgeous boyfriend!! .. Ron makes us gluten free pancakes to order... Nothing like them anywhere else.. can't recommend this place highly enough! Delicious by name and delicious by nature!
