We had book a table for dinner last night. On reading reviews we were looking forward to a nice meal. On arrival nice welcoming atmosphere and decore in dining room. For myself and my daughter our courses were good. As for my husband's food a terrible disappointment. He ordered the cheese and crab tartlets for starter. Should have been presented with yellow tomatoes and a mustard salad leaves. Arrival of 2 small tartlets on a plate with nothing else totally dry and not as menu stated. His mains was ribeye cooked medium with a garlic butter request on the top of cooked steak. Looked nice when it arrived, but the butter was a cold block on the top straight from the fridge. Wondering why it wasn't melting into the steak, middle of the steak completely raw and ice cold. My husband ate all around the edge of the steak as it was just warm, until he couldn't eat the raw centre with the lump of unmelted butter on top. Asked for it to go back to the chef to see it was uncooked. Response from the kitchen was that the chef cooks a medium steak at 45°c. Any qualified chef would have the knowledge to know that the optimal cooking temperature for a medium steak is 60-65°c. If I am expecting to pay £30-40 for a steak ,I expect nothing short of a steak cooked to perfection. A basic skill for a decent chef. Not the case here unfortunately. A real disappointment. The dining room was quiet as we ate quite early so no excuse of being under pressure with a busy pass in the kitchen. To have both courses not to the customers satisfaction is totally unacceptable. In this day and age you want to charge the high prices so I see no room for excuses and poor presentation of a customers orders. We never asked for a discount from the bill, as that is not our style. A starter at £12 was deducted from the final bill. To be honest that didn't make any difference ,the total disappointment was already in place. A dinner that was meant to be a family celebration completely ruined by a totally underrated chef, who can't cope with the basics of correctly cooking a perfect steak. Shame on your establishment for thinking that is acceptable. Very poor. I would like to add a response to the owners reply to said earlier review. Everything I stated was true. You are totally incorrect in the steak order of medium rare. The order was medium, which means a steak cooked through with a pink juicy centre. Not raw and ice cold like what your kitchen sent out. The steak was 2/3rds eaten yes as out of politeness we don't like to complain. At the point of icecold raw meat it had to on the second time of the waitress asking be sent back to the kitchen. I must stress at no point was an apology offered for the poor standard. Your establishment is nice but not as good as you think. That is why whenever a customer gives something short of a 5 star rating you James the owner seem to become quiet aggressive. Your whole response is extremely rude and an attack on decent paying customers. Nobody likes a little negative feedback. This is healthy to own your mistake and take on board other people's opinions and improve from that. It seems you are totally incapable of doing so as looking over all the other less favourable reviews you have verbally attacked those customers as well. This is childish and unacceptable behaviour for an owner of a restaurant and bordering on very unprofessional. A simple apology would suffice and bring you more respect. Nobody gets everything right all the time. Take some advice and move on with respect for your customers. Wishing you all the success in the future, not for me,which is a shame. But as you suggest maybe try somewhere else next time where paying customers are treated with respect and not made to look like they are lying, when only the truth is being told.

We have visited the Georgian House several times over the last few years and the food and service have always been great and did not disappoint on this occasion either. I'm quite surprised they can keep up this level of consistency and it must surely now be one of the better places in the wider area and can compete with any place in Belfast any day of the week. My chicken chasseur was cooked to perfection and the vegetarian tacos were getting rave reviews. We will be back.

Its hard to drag my husband out of his comfort zone..but I persuaded him to come to No14 since I and friends had visited before. He is now a convert. Thoroughly enjoyed his meal, the ambience, the music and the whole experience. Staff were exceptional, I have mobility issues and a table was reserved for me, which I really appreciated. From the charming young man to the the two young women - the service and attention to detail could not be faulted. The menu was so obviously well thought out and planned ; it was a pleasure to peruse it. None of the 50 shades of burger, curry and chicken which are so prevalent nowadays - even in establishments where one would expect more variety for the sometimes extortionate prices. The taste of our dishes was the most important factor....exquisite. Definitely wont be as long again before I drag my husband down from the wilds of Lisburn..but will probably just make it a girl night with a teetotal driver. Thanks to all for a lovely experience.

As part-time local residents, it's good to have a few restaurants of reasonable quality within reach, so this one more or less fits the bill. Maybe though, it is more at ease serving breakfasts, brunches and lunches than dinner, which perhaps its opening hours confirm. One help would be for the menus on the web site to be updated, in terms of content and prices, to those of actuality or for them to be shown as examples only.

We went for an impromptu lunch to No 14 Georgian house , unfortunately as I was the designated driver I could not partake in wine the cuisine deserved, we began with breads 3 varieties sourdough, wheaten and batch , duck fat butter , tapenade, walnut oil and garlic oil , served warm and toasted superb , we then enjoyed Scallops, Guanciale, celeriac and fish roe perfectly cooked , Mains were a traditional roast stuffed chicken with all the trimmings (as per menu ) and my choice Brill Veronique with a side order of wonderful champ, once again the cooking was faultless, the last time I had peeled grapes were in The Ritz so 👏👏👏 . There is plenty of choice something for everyone , breads and canapés are priced £6 , starters vary from £7 upwards mains from £12 like I said something for everyone , had we not had breads we may have indulged in the excellent looking desserts, maybe next time , the Chef like all his staff work so hard , pay them a visit you won’t be disappointed 👍👨🏻🍳

Came here on a whim for Sunday lunch. While I didn't get a Sunday roast (my fault for not checking the menu first) I have to say the food was spectacular. We had the breads to start which were warmed and served with butter, oil and olive tapanade. Delicious wheaten bread. I had the duck which was moist and melt in the mouth to the point I didn't need the jus. Everything was seasoned to perfection (I don't like salt on my food) so this was a bonus to have that control over my plate to add any of I wanted. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. Going through the specials and the items on the menu if we had questions. Can't wait to go back. Only thing that bothered me was the smoke pluming out of the fireplace into the dining area.

Having read the list of suppliers and about the chef my husband and I were really looking forward to trying somewhere new for lunch. Hadn't booked but thought it should be okay on a Wednesday. Told we could not go into the restaurant part as we hadn't booked and were shown into the coffee and buns part. Brought menus for the all day breakfast. I asked for lunch menu but was told their supplies for lunch hadnt arrived yet. So how were they going to feed us if we had booked. This was lunchtime. Ordered from the A-D-B menu and waited............and waited, and waited. Waitress came back and offered more drinks and advised the chef was just bringing our order now. We waited. Still nothing. Then the waitress asked if my husband wanted sauce with his fry and it was just coming that minute. Still nothing. We got up to leave. My husband went to pay for the coke zero and water we got but the waitress had taken them off the bill. It seems completely ridiculous to have a restaurant offering a lunchtime fayre and not have the supplies there at lunchtime and to be unable to fulfill two orders (a fry and an eggs benedict) inside an hour.

Nothing ike the picture with roaring fire etc. We were sitting at the draughty fireplace. It was either there, or near the noisy coffee machine. Very noisy, which would be expected with it being obviously, men's breakfast day. However, the scones were nice and provided quickly. Not much cosy atmosphere as depicted by the photo. No one noticed we had to shift about to avoid the sun in our eyes as it moved across the window!! Not important!!! Makes a difference when you are sitting there. An OK experience, but not one I would necessarily repeat. Not memorable enough to repeat or recommend. Staff took the order. That's all. No interaction or smile. Good thing?? We didn't feel rushed to leave.

Came to see a friend in Comber, she told me that I absolutely had to eat at the restaurant where she works. It's quite simply one of the best meals I've ever had... To begin with, the place is more than charming (façade, moldings, decorations) with ultra-available and smiling staff, it's a real pleasure! Then for the menu we are on "simple", 4 starters, 4 main courses, 4 desserts and it's heavy, really.. I had the duck leg which is served with its plum compote (the best I have tasted in my life), on a bed of ginger Kimchi (I presume given the taste) and it was just succulent because the everything harmonizes perfectly on the palate. All with a good Merlot which goes very well. As an accompaniment I had fries and I still wonder how the chef makes them so tender given their thickness.. 😂 For dessert, apprentice chef Peepa sets the bar very high. I'm not much of a chocolate person but the olive oil ice cream made me choose the Bavarian and it's the best dessert I've eaten. In conclusion, given the delicious meal that I was served and for the price of the dishes, I will definitely come back and I highly recommend this restaurant. Thanks to all of you ❤️

Very welcoming staff. Service quick and efficient. Good choice of menu. We chose scallops and cod cheek dishes for starters. The former was outstanding, the cod cheeks in coating a little dry but still enjoyable. Both of us had the halibut dish as mains with sides of greens and Comber potatoes. Absolutely first rate. The bean cassoulet and asparagus were perfect accompaniments. Only minor criticism was the deep, small bowl the course was served in. It made it hard to eat the food easily. The desserts we chose were pear tartin and the chocolate fondant special. Again first rate dishes. The young chef, Peepa, in charge of the desserts should be congratulated for creating such wonderful dishes. The fondant was one of the best I have ever tasted. Overall a superb meal at a reasonable price.

Ordered our coffees and selection of bread and tapenade, olives, asked was there enough to share and was told to order a bigger plate which was fair enough, thinking it would be based around 3 as there was 3 of us. plate came, breads were lovely, tapenade was size of a desert spoon and around 7 olives in the dish, all was nice but portion seriously for 3 was light. went to pay the bill and 2 plates were charged for as opposed to a large plate, annoyance was if u was paying for 2 then we should have had 2 plates then, with 2 tapenade 2 dishes of olives and 2 sets of breads., might sound trivial but it's how I felt taken on

Asked the waiter to heated in the Micro but was told that the Porridge had been remade ,sound good but by the time it arrive I had finished my small Fry Also I had ordered Tea to be served with my fry and my spouse asked to order her coffee once she had finished her porridge but she did ask the same waiter who got my order wrong for a glass of water to be served with her Porridge, which never appeared. Once we had both finished our breakfast at different times, the waiter ask my spouse if she was ready for her decaf coffee and he was told to leave for a while . Within 5 minutes she was served with a full Decaf Americano which she never gave as an order as she wanted a single Decaf espresso with a small.pot of Boiling water. So yes the food was good but lookwarm and the waiter was not attentive and obviously did not listen properly to our order Pity Decor 👍🏼 Food 🙂 but Not hot enough Service. 👎🏼 Value for money 👍🏼 Will be back and hopefully we will receive more attentive service

Visited No.14 again today 25 Sept. For the Jazz event, we sat outside under a canopy. Again the food was Very good and the service was excellent, it had even improved from our last visit. The music was a welcome bonus! The regular menu is a little tame but the Specials - brilliant , see the photo! Make sure to ask for the specials board. The chef (and his kitchen team) has real talent 👍😁 One of the best menus for specials we've ever seen. The food was top quality. Staff were friendly, helpful and polite. If I was to pick up on anything it perhaps lacks a little bit of finesse with the condiments. Overall though great food, lovely presentation,a visit would be well worth it! Great fish!

Wife treated me to the tasting menu and every course was superb. A showcase of fine local ingredients made for a very memorable dining experience. The value for money here too is excellent for the quality of food. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Well worth a detour out to comber.

Portions were small and side dishes were priced separately. Main course of turbot was minute. Beef was described as medium and arrived medium rare. Not good value for money or quality of food for the Michelin star rating they are hoping to achieve. Also scrap the low quality paper napkins. Staff were pleasant. Second and last try at this restaurant.

Absolutely fantastic evening at no14. From the moment we walked in the staff were attentive, the mood was amazing and the food probably one of the best iv had in a long time. Its great to see people who enjoy their job and it rubs off on those dining here to make a very pleasant experience. I will be highly recommending here to anyone who is looking a top class evening out with friends or family or even just a quick stop off after a day out. Well done to all at no14!

An amazing restaurant providing fantastic food and service! The specials menu served up a plethora of options making great use of local ingredients. The scallops starter and duck breast main were excellent and the creme brulee dessert was divine!

Absolutely dreadful experience. We we politely greeted by a member of staff that had to check which menus were being served (it was lunchtime, and we were interested in the brunch offerings). We then proceeded to the delightful little courtyard area at the rear of the restaurant, which was half full. Unfortunately the only table left in the shade hadn't been cleared, and it took around five minutes for it to be cleared and cleaned. Another five minutes or so elapsed before our drinks order was taken. We had already decided what we wanted to eat, but were told that someone else would have to take the food order. The drinks arrived after another five minutes or so. We had virtually finished the tea and coffee when another member of staff approached us and said there would be a delay of a further ten minutes before our order would be taken as the kitchen was "prioritising reservation food orders". We promptly got up and left. There were four waiting staff on duty. They were wandering around in a general state of confusion during our visit. There appeared to be only one member of staff working in the kitchen area from what we could see as we left, and he looked extremely harassed. Everything about the visit suggested style over substance. The indoor dining area was empty, so there were only about a third the amount of covers that the place is designed to hold at the time of our visit. The experience was, overall, shambolic. I doubt that we will visit again.

Great atmosphere. The setting in the Georgian House is beautiful and a superb back drop for this restuarants cuisine and style. I had the duck which was cooked to perfection. Staff were lovely and very friendly. Will definitely back, especially with the dogs as it's dog friendly.

Want a change of menu? Had Chinese, Indian, Italian, and all the local food? Well what about Dutch? A very interesting and different menu for any meal. Generous helpings of quality food, in Netherlands style; and served by friendly people who give the customer attention and the young waitress who served us was exceedingly nice too. The tray bakes were also delightful, as well as the cooked food. I recommend trying this interesting place for a change; and probably, like me, and those I was with, you will want to return again, and try some other delightful items on the menu.

I never get a bad meal in the salt house. I always try new and different things on the menu and it is always top class and top class service by ally and all the waiting staff really service with a smile and nothing is ever a bother. Eating everything from steak to sea foods and vegetarian dishes the food is absolutely beautiful lovely warm sea side atmosphere in the restaurant. Definitely give this place a go and prices are so reasonable.

We visit Balloo house every time we are in the area visiting my father in law. I can’t fault it, they always produce good food from an interesting menu, the ambience is warm and friendly and they accommodate all ages from my 5 year old daughter up to my 82 year old father in law. I’m veggie and whilst they don’t have veggie options on the main menu, I ask for the vegetarian menu which always has 4 or 5 really interesting and appealing options
