The best restaurants in Spital Tamworth West Midlands

Curry was nice however it was served on a freezing cold salad which turned it lukewarm very quickly. Ordered a rose wine which was honestly putrid and tasted like tepid squash.

Visited last night with friends and very impressed. Good food (we all had the stuffed chicken) and nice atmosphere. The young waiter working almost single-handedly was professional and polite and did a great job!

Terrible. It’s a shame, thought we would support our local pub for a family meal for 8 last Saturday evening. No on line booking available so tried to phone . This went to BT call protect which I then put the phone down and redialled. It asks for your name, I said customer, and it then rang and rang and rang so I put the phone down. Being only a couple of minutes away I decided to pop round to book, this is about 9pm on the Wednesday. At the bar the girl/lady went and got the book and put my name down for 7pm table for 8. She said that should be ok as only another party of 5 were booked for 7pm. So Saturday arrived and basically we were told unfortunately a function had been booked for the evening in the dining area. Apologies were given, and apparently they were unable to get hold of me , thought I’d given a phone number on booking. No offer of rebooking another time with say a complementary bottle of wine or 25% discount etc. Not pleased was an understatement, my wife particularly almost had a breakdown. After several phone calls a very sympathetic lady managed to fit us in at Harvester Basset Pole where we enjoyed a wonderful meal.

The chef is absolutely lovely!! food was 10/10 and drinks were delightful. no complaints whatsoever. really nice little pub for dinner or lunch !

I’m not sure why this place has several negative nasty reviews. We walked in and it was empty which to me raises alarm bells but really surprised now as the food was exquisite. I stayed in the area a few nights and couldn’t stay away. The wood fire cooked donner was beautiful and not greasy The mains were generous portions and came very fast. I don’t usually write reviews but this place really deserves it. Come on ppl support this local eatery!
