We travelled to the area specifically to visit this place following a recommendation. It is set in a very rural area but has plenty of parking and is a very cosy set-up. Open charcoal fires, dog friendly and bring your own booze. The food was a set menu for £55 a head. Asparagus and hollandaise to start, with big chunky stems. The main was beef rump, roasted potatoes, carrots and greens beans, all seasoned very well and packed full of flavour. A honeycomb cheesecake to finish made the meal an absolute pleasure. Well worth a visit and certainly an experienc.

Came here for a bite to eat whilst staying at the local Travelodge. Really nice old 14th Century Inn with all the fittings to boot. The beer was excellent (Three Tuns Zenith) as was the food. Nothing overly fancy but hearty, filling and really well cooked. Staff were friendly and welcoming which made our brief stay all the more enjoyable. Well worth a go.

We ate here 3 times while staying nearby for a week. When I phoned to book I was asked if I had any dietary requirements. I said that sweet potato fries weren't on their menu, but it would be great if they could get some. The reply was that they would try. I was delighted that when we arrived they had some! We enjoyed their Sunday roast of beef, Yorkshire pudding and lots of different vegetables. Like the 2 other times we ate here, all the food was excellent, cooked just right, tasty and hot.

The staff were very friendly but the Sunday lunch was very enjoyable. The wild garlic on the lamb ruined it completely, and the meat just looked like off cuts with the gravy being thin and tasteless. The veg was cooked well with crispy potatoes but in general it was all under seasoned.

Great little find usually. However stock looks a little low at present. Can’t imagine why, enthusiasm being at an all time high locally! Have heard possible hostile takeover (them Foresters apparently) have seen the margins and fancy it. Also Annie needs chocolate!
