Great food, good ales, good atmosphere, friendly helpful staff in a great location and a large car park.

A lovely warm welcome when we arrived. We hadn’t booked and that wasn’t a problem at all. Very dog friendly, warm and cozy. The food that we chose was fabulous. My wife had home made carrot and coriander soup with bread which she thoroughly enjoyed. The reason for a 4 star and not 5 was because there was no sandwich or lunch type food as an option, just your traditional menu. In fairness this is what you can see on the website if you look in advance. I had steak, mushroom and blue Stilton pie with dauphinoise potatoes which was excellent. They have a wonderful range of beers and wines and what was impressive as we didn’t want alcohol was their equally as impressive range of none alcoholic drinks.

We went for a drink at our local as the Royal Oak has new management. We fond the new owners to be friendly, engaging and extremely welcoming. Good beer and nice wine. The pub has been cleaned throughout. We were so impressed that we went two days later for a wonderful tasty traditional Sunday lunch. Could not fault the food and the brownie was sensational. Their is music on every Sunday evening and this week's performer was excellent. So exciting for the village and surrounding area.

Lovely inn in beautiful countryside. Very comfortable rooms, beautiful old inn and fantastic food. The most tender lamb I’ve ever had.

Can't comment on rooms as we didn't use them, 10 of us ate, all roast dinners of lamb or beef. Lamb was excellent. Caramelised carrot and cabbage was good, nice mash, gravy top notch, but yorkshire well over done, 9 went out and 8 and a half returned to kitchen. Staff where lovely and couldn't do enough for you. Definitely be back again

Fantastic meal. Large portions of really good food, lovely staff and nice drinks all at a really reasonable price. Definitely a must go if you are in the area. Dog friendly too.
