Food was good but could have been a little warmer. Service was unfriendly and poor, ordered condiments and before we were able to finish telling the manager what we needed he was off . On his return we asked for Apple Sauce and he muttered he didn’t think he had any but arrived back with some! Drinks order came with no lemon and the full bottle of tonic having been poured into the gin without question and the ginger beer and lemonade were served with no ice. Finally one of my guests asked for more gravy and this appeared in a milk jug ten minutes later after she had finished her meal on telling this to the manager my wife asked if she could have a little on her last couple of roast potatoes he plonked the jug on the table and we were charged two pounds for the privilege! At no time during our visit were we asked if we enjoyed our meal or if everything was all right! Finally a smile from either member of staff would have been welcome!

Absolutely wonderful food. We phoned up a few hours before as a family of 3. They were so accommodating and said they would squeeze us in. We are so grateful. The best Sunday roast I’ve had in forever and also my husband and 3 year old cleared their plates and enjoyed their meals. Perfect cheesecake and wonderful service from Ebony and Ian. Great team! Thank you.

We decided to order food with some drinks at our local pub. We ordered 2 x halloumi fries to share A Beef Burger, a child’s chicken goujons and a Jacket potato with beans for me (an adult). However the chef refused to make the jacket potato because it was on one child’s menu. Which resulted in us cancelling our order and leaving with a very upset child. The local waiting on staff tried to reason with the chef but to no avail. We would have expressed our disappointment to the manager however he left at 8 pm. We keep giving this establishment yet another chance but get let down every time. Which is such a shame as it used to be a lovely place to go. And it is our local pub as residents of the village.

Mid week visit and it was very quiet, not like the pub we used to visit on a regular basis. As another reviewer comented the Tentant Required sign probably puts people off. We both ordered rib eye steak, but it was very tough and my jaw ached at the end of the meal. However the chips, mushrooms and onion rings with it were good. Hope they get a permanent tenant soon who can improve things.

Staff really nice, nice location for the pub. That’s about it in terms of good news…. I had roast beef Sunday dinner (£18). I thought it was a children’s portion! Two tiny roast potatoes, half a carrot, small spoon of greens & tablespoon mash. Two small slices beef & just a drizzle of gravy. I half expected another plate of veg to arrive. I note several others have commented on the portion sizes, seems to be a common issue.

2 years ago we ate twice in this pub and the food was excellent and good value for money. This year we spotted the To Let sign stuck on the pub and made comment that things may not be the same. How right we were! "Whitby scampi and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce". Was actually Youngs frozen scampi not properly cooked, in fact I guess it was microwaved (soggy), Batchelors mushy peas (eventually) and just about passable chips. "Steak with tomato, mushrooms, onion rings and chips". Best of the three but the onion rings never arrived! "Steak and Ale pie with fresh vegetables and chips" Microwaved bought in pie (soggy and lukewarm), tinned veg (soggy) and chips. Its so annoying when you recognise the shop bought food and sold as "fresh". Some staff worked hard to make things right - others couldn't give a dam and didn't bother hiding it. If you plan to visit - try driving further afield for the time being,

Lovely country pub. On arrival it was very quiet with only two other customers present. The staff were there and said hi and the room was spacious and typical country pub. We looked at the menu which was limited, however quality over quantity is important to us and went on to order a burger and a Cumberland sausage. Great food, tasty, well presented and fresh and hot. Couldn't have been happier. The chef asked us how it was and was clearly proud of his work. All in all a nice lunch out and good experience.

Came here on Christmas Eve for a lovely meal. We were welcomed and looked after very well. The beer was excellent and we tried the Shanky's Whip in a coffee which was gorgeous. I've bought a bottle for myself now! The Christmas meal was so delicious. Luckily our starters weren't available so we didn't have one having been advised the dinner was so big we didn't need one. How true! We had a massive and gorgeous dinner and couldn't fit another thing in. Apart from the lovely Irish Coffee. What a lovely restaurant. We heard you had some drama there lately so really hope you can make a good go of this wonderful pub. It's excellent. Good luck!

I recently visited Royal Oak Lindale and was greatly disappointed by the overall experience. The atmosphere , drinks and food were pleasant, but it was overshadowed by glaring issues regarding the staff. Throughout my visit, it was painfully evident that there weren’t enough team members on duty to handle the volume of customers. The existing staff were visibly overworked, rushing around to attend to tables, take orders, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. This resulted in prolonged wait times and a general sense of chaos. It's disheartening to witness hardworking individuals pushed to their limits due to understaffing. It's unfair to both the staff, who are obviously struggling, and the customers who expect a certain level of service when they visit. The term "modern-day slavery" may be strong, but the sheer exhaustion and strain on the faces of the employees painted a distressing picture. It's concerning to see a business seemingly prioritize profits over the well-being of its staff, as evident in the unsustainable workload imposed on them. A pub is not just about the drinks; it's about the experience. And unfortunately, the overworked staff significantly marred what could have been an enjoyable evening. I sincerely hope that Royal Oak and Robinsons take immediate steps to address this issue by hiring more staff or implementing better scheduling practices to ensure a healthier and more efficient work environment. Until improvements are made in staffing and workload management, I regret to say that I won't be returning to Royal Oak.

I will try to keep this short and sweet, but it will be hard. Firstly…. - The bar/dining area and the toilets are spotless, absolutely spotless. - The hosts - Matt and his beautiful partner….. couldn’t do enough.. New custodians I believe, and they are clearly not messing around. They were wonderful people and they couldn’t do enough for us and the other diners. They knew when and how often to check on things, whilst also allowing diners to eat, chat, relax and enjoy the food, drink & ambience. - The chef…. I think I heard his name was Luke. You served hot, well presented and delicious food…. hats off to you Luke, well done! You are a very talented chef, and you produced some food today that was not only exceptionally generous in portion size, but absolutley delicious. - The drinks…. A perfect pint of dizzy blonde… again, faultless. I love nothing more than finding hidden gems like this, and I feel that we have been extremely lucky to do so, now it’s in the hands of these very talented and hardworking people. I wish you all the luck in the world for your time at the Royal Oak, and I can only hope that word gets around about what they will be in for when they visit… Seriously, seriously good and will 100% visit again. On the last minute we decided to call the Royal Oak to see if they could accommodate us for Sunday Dinner. They said they could and after a good day of walking we were in need of food and somewhere warm to relax. I have to admit I didn't know what to expect from the food, well wow was I blown away! This is by far the best food I have eaten in ages. As we entered The Royal Oak, we were met by a friendly member of staff and a lovely warm relaxed atmosphere. We ordered 3 beef Sunday lunches and 1 homemade steak and potato pie. I honestly can't praise the food enough. Everything on the roast beef lunch was just amazing, homemade Yorkshire puddings, the most tasty tender beef, perfectly cooked vegetables, and lovely gravy. The homemade pie was cooked to perfection with lovely pastry. When I go out for food, I am not someone who loves a huge plate overflowing of just average food, I like quality food rather than quantity, and this food was exactly that. We had the sticky toffee pudding for desert, which was also just as delicious. I wish I had know about this place the day before as we ate somewhere else in Grange over sands which was no where near as good. All the staff were very friendly and made you feel so welcome. I would definitely book again without hesitation if I am visiting in the future. Well done The Royal Oak, keep doing what you are doing!

The meat options were tasty and attractively presented with fresh vegetables to go with them. My falafel burgers were deep fried and dry, with little resemblance to falafels. They came in toasted pittas which added to the dryness. There were a couple of lettuce leaves, two slices of tomato and a few bits of red onion. There was some “salsa”, which comprised tomato diced very small in balsamic vinegar. An earlier review mentions how good the vegetable lasagne is: I clearly made the wrong choice. The quality of our meal was superb and the service from a young male waiter was excellent. However our experience was totally spoiled by the fact that we were sat at a table exposed to a cold draught from an open back door. Well, we were having an excellent meal at the Royal Oak, and I was slipping in and out of the bar area every couple of minutes to get an update on the score. Only problem was that the locals decided that we had lost when the match was tied and the TV was switched over to the men's tennis final at Wimbledon. 20 minutes later a kindly barman came to say that there had been two super overs at Lords and England had won!!! An additional twist to the rollerceroaster that the nation was riding!

Most of the steaks bar one came out not cooked to our liking ie Medium was very rare! We were also asked if we wanted vegetables or a salad with the steaks. We all opted for salad. This was brought out in the smallest bowl ever seen which was to be shared amongst four of us. Literally two hours after leaving the pub one of us started with horrendous stomach gripes which resulted in bad diarrhoea. We dropped like flies rapidly over the course of the evening.

! ! ! ! Un retorno definitivo al lugar.

Called to reserve table after reading reviews. I had poached pear and walnut with blue cheese which was delicious although not the biggest portion. The roast beet was very well presented and the gravy was one of the best I’ve had. Only negative was the lack of table check and the portion of vegetables could of been bigger. The desert of strawberry cheesecake was to die for and my wife really enjoyed this part of the meal. Definitely would recommend if in the area.

Vine aquà en la tienda si los comentarios y la comida realmente es excelente. El pastel de bistec y cerveza era delicioso y una gran cantidad de carne de res de buena calidad. Las verduras también eran perfectas.

Came for a meal whilst on a break in the area and picked the right place. Very busy but dealt with efficiently by friendly waiter. An extensive menu along with the specials and both the guinea fowl and lamb were exquisite along with excellent vegetable selection. Starters and desserts were equally good. Excellent value since it is restaurant quality food at pub food prices. If in the area again it will be our first choice to visit.

We had a lovely evening meal here just five minutes drive from HPB Merlewood where we were staying. Many locals were also dining there, reflecting the popularity of this village pub restaurant. Prices were very reasonable and the food quality was excellent. We will certainly return when staying in the area.

We have been dining here for years and went in for lunch today, we had already sat down and ordered drinks before we looked at the menu otherwise we would have left ÂŁ19.00 for pizza and fries ÂŁ17.00 for gamon. It cost us nearly ÂŁ100 for 5 adults for lunch and one soft drink each, the food was nice but not worth the money, we ate from Manchester and the prices were on part with our city centre we will not be returning which is a shame as it was always our favourite pub to eat in in cartmel

Phoned last minute on Saturday afternoon. Managed to get a table for two. Lovely warm and cosy place. Friendly and attentive staff. Extensive choice and food delicious. We had the lamb and pesto chicken. Both presented well with sides of veg and home made chips. Packed with flavour. Will definitely return. Worth a visit

After a morning in Grange-Over-Sands, we took a slight detour on our way home to Lancaster to visit this pub of which we had heard good reviews. We were not disappointed- we were made to feel welcome. Although it was busy and we hadn’t made a reservation a table was soon found. We ordered ciabattas from the sandwich menu which came with side orders of chips and a salad garnish.

What a pleasant night last night was at the Royal oak at Lindale the service was very good, the food was Beautiful, I had the salmon Wellington with fresh asparagus and another four different types of vegetables all beautifully cooked with a beurre blanc sauce, my husband had the steak and ale pie , plenty of succulent steak in a lovely gravy and a suet pastry, served with real chips and again four very fresh vegetables. The reason I recommend the vegetables is because , the previous night we had only one vegetable with our main course at a different restaurant in Carmel.

The Royal Oak is a very nice place to eat. We ate there twice. Once for Sunday lunch which we both had the roast beef followed by raspberry cheese cake. We were that impressed that we booked for the following night and were not disappointed at having made this choice. The food is excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful especially the barman. The atmosphere is good with a traditional country feel. I would certainly come back if in The area and would definitely recommend.

We were quite a big group on a Sunday evening so we were glad we had booked a table in this busy pub. Three of us had the game casserole which was excellent and great value for money. It had a generous serving of dumplings and also bread. We all agreed that the bread was a bit soft and oily but that it wasn't needed anyway. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals. Service was very friendly and helpful.

Most unusual for a pub in this part of the country, but dogs are not welcome. It’s a reasonable choice, but I would now choose to go elsewhere. The food is really very good and fairly priced and the beer well kept.

We came to Royal Oak for an anniversary dinner and we were not disappointed. The standard of meals was extremely high and the choice was outstanding. They cater for vegetarian as well. The food is locally sourced and cooked by a chef who understands flavour and perfection. The fresh vegetables are mouthwatering. Everything came hot and perfectly presented.

Called here for a takeaway lunch, used them several times before. Service was disappointing to say the least. Not a please or thankyou from the ladies working in the shop - even when I pointed out they'd only charged me for 1 flat white! Previous reviews also highlight the fact that the staff are miserable, they respond but do nothing to address the concerns raised. Also, I would've thought that as u was the only customer in the shop on a very wet day would have been positive for them - obviously not! Not sure I'll return here.

Visited here with my Dad today. Asked for a tea cake and then a scone both not on the menu anymore. I had a bagel with salmon and cream cheese paid over £8 and that was it no sides, no even a bit of salad - didn’t taste great. Dad ordered pancakes in the end 2 tiny pancakes on a dish - still hungry when we left. Not great service either. Disappointed!

Terrible customer service! The young girl at the till clearly did not want to be there. She was huffing and puffing at customers! Yes, it was very busy as yesterday, 15th October was a beautiful autumn day but I would think they would be glad of end of season trade! I could not sit down because they were so busy so opted to ask for take away coffee and cake, only to be told by her 'I'm not doing take away'. Really? The local co-op is closed for a refurbishment and they really could capitalise on that if they employed more capable, less miserable staff! Shocking!! Won't return!

Called in for a coffee and snack after our frequent walk along the bay and round back into Arnside. When this first opened I was a little wary as we are used to small intimate tea/coffee shops in Arnside. However this was our second visit and as we entered we were greeted by obviously the front of house guy “David”. Wow does this guy know how to do it Welcoming ,friendly, Northern (always a bonus). Had a lovely coffee and Hubby had a great crisp bacon bun. The vibe in this cafe/restaurant is great., modern but great service. We live quite locally and are encouraged to go in the evening now as well. In our opinion the best restaurants are always about the front of house and Crossfields has it right. Everyone in this place has a great view of our beautiful Morecambe bay.
