Popped in for lunch after a stroll on the beach with the dogs. Really excellent food and the service was great. Staff really friendly and certainly happy to have well behaved dogs around!! This is the real deal in British beach side cafes!

About 10 years ago when The Manor was under different management my family and I ate here, the food and service was so appalling we vowed never to eat here again. This week we had another family gathering and were told that The Manor had a different owner and that the food and service was much better. We decided to go on the 14th. Oh my goodness we couldn’t believe the warm welcome and the excellent food, they must have a five star chef. The food was cooked to perfection. We enjoyed our meal so much we returned the following evening.

We stopped at the Queens for dinner whilst in St Bees. It’s dog friendly in the bar area where we were seated. Our food arrived promptly. Unfortunately both of our plates were filled with inedible hand cut chips which were soggy and unappetising. Seasoning did not improve these chips either. We both left the chips virtually untouched. Our daughter opted for a small plate of chicken bites which were overly crispy. The service was not over friendly or welcoming. The interactions with the server were functional but far from engaging. We would be highly unlikely to revisit the Queens if we were back in the area. A very disappointing first experience of hospitality in the area.

We booked to have a meal based on family recommendation of the excellent food. We arrived to find the live music was so loud even in the dining room that you could not hear a conversation shouted in your ear from 3 inches away. We left disappointed without a meal as we could not enjoy a meal due to the volume. I felt so sorry for the poor staff trying to do their job, having to shout at customers over the volume. While the band were good- it would be advisable to have a door between the live music and restaurant so people can enjoy a conversation with their meal.
