The best restaurants in Clayton-le-Woods and Whittle-le-Woods Chorley North West

Passing by whilst visiting a relative we stopped and asked for a table , all were reserved ( not surprisingly ) but they found us a table for two without any hassle , menus brought out quickly and drinks were served to us , a pot of tea and a really nice cup of coffee , we both ordered the sandwich and soup at £9 , waited no more than 10 minutes and it was brought to our table , i was amazed at the quality of the soup , thick , hot and tasty ( stilton and broccoli ) , loads of salad with the sandwich and mine was handcarved turkey with stuffing and cranberry , absolutely delicous and great value for money , we bought 2 cakes to takeaway , they were also fantastic and great value , everything about this place is high quality , the food , the service , the traditional menu , the cosy atmosphere , what a cracking find .

Great for large groups and couples alike

We have eaten at Elliot's quite a few times now, but this was the first time in our lives that we had eaten out for Christmas Dinner. The service was wonderful and the food top notch. We have eaten there again twice since Christmas and really enjoyed every bite. The staff are so pleasant and attentive and the proprietor just couldn't do enough to make our Christmas special. I don't write reviews very often despite eating and travelling a great deal, so this means that Elliot's went above and beyond.

Just had a delicious Xmas lunch today at Shawhill with family and friends. Food was delicious. Beautifully presented and cooked. Service was good and staff friendly, cheerful and helpful. Would highly recommend and will be going again soon.

The staff were very friendly. There were four in our party and all the food was excellent we all had a different dish. Good atmosphere all the tables were full. The only complaint we thought the larger at over £5 a pint was over the top. Our own local the Euxton Mills a similar set up it is only £4,50, This would not stop us visiting again we would make sure we chose a cheaper drink on principal. We do eat out every Sat.

Nice village pub friendy staff great beer at reasonable prices

We visited the restaurant on Sunday 10th November 2024 ,the meal was excellent but eclipsed by the service and support given by Stuart (Manager) . As a new wheelchair user the help and support given was outstanding. Stuart found us a suitable table , proving every assistance subsequently , far , far more than could have been anticipated or hoped for All staff were attentive , very pleasant and ensured that the dining experience was worry free and most enjoyable Lovely place, great staff and a lovely meal, we will be back

There was a musician playing which was a pleasant surprise. Service was great, wine by the glass selection was good and the food was as I expected.

Hard at times to find a decent takeaway but having moved here I'm pleased to say this is one! Nice selection of dim sum, decent portion sizes and reasonable prices
