The best restaurants in Clayton-le-Woods and Whittle-le-Woods Chorley North West

Visited Whittle Tearooms today for lunch with a friend, we had carrot & red lentil soup, it was warming & full of flavour & a sandwich with the softest brown bloomer bread, all served with crunchy crisps, salad & coleslaw. Couldn't resist the delicious blueberry scones, served warm with scrumptious homemade raspberry jam & thick cream & two of the most yummy hot chocolate drinks, everything is always 5☆ whenever I visit & the staff are so friendly

Our first time visiting today, we chose x3 courses with a roast beef Sunday lunch. Absolutely fantastic, the service, the food & the price. We'll be back again & will recommend to our friends & family We're lucky to have this place so local.

The restaurant was very busy which is always a good sign and the smells from the kitchen when we walked in were a delight! We came on Sunday (yesterday 02/02/25) and as read on the menu to bear with them at busy times as they don’t serve fast food but fresh food as fast as they can. I think this is a great sign that the food will be good, I personally would rather wait longer and the food be great than in and out and be left with a meh feeling. But that’s each to their own taste. The gambas Pil Pil will literally blow your socks off it is EXTREMELY Spicy!! Again this may suit you, but too spicy for myself. The carrot soup was delicious!! 2 of us had the seabass and it was a fabulous piece and the best seabass I’ve had anywhere! We then shared the deconstructed banoffee pie, again not disappointed and was a fab dessert! Can’t wait to come back! The staff were all very pleasant and attentive! I’d love to see a specials board in the future but if this doesn’t happen and the food stays as good it’s no deal breaker but it’s just nice to keep things different, as I feel it will be somewhere we will frequent often now we have tried! We had a wonderful afternoon tea at Shaw Hill. The welcome and service throughout our visit was extremely attentive. The food was of a high quality and we enjoyed the variety including soup, scones and sausage rolls. The environment was relaxing and the birthday ‘girl’ was made to feel special. We highly recommend Shaw Hill for a celebration afternoon tea.

The staff were very friendly. There were four in our party and all the food was excellent we all had a different dish. Good atmosphere all the tables were full. The only complaint we thought the larger at over £5 a pint was over the top. Our own local the Euxton Mills a similar set up it is only £4,50, This would not stop us visiting again we would make sure we chose a cheaper drink on principal. We do eat out every Sat.

Nice village pub friendy staff great beer at reasonable prices

We visited the restaurant on Sunday 10th November 2024 ,the meal was excellent but eclipsed by the service and support given by Stuart (Manager) . As a new wheelchair user the help and support given was outstanding. Stuart found us a suitable table , proving every assistance subsequently , far , far more than could have been anticipated or hoped for All staff were attentive , very pleasant and ensured that the dining experience was worry free and most enjoyable Lovely place, great staff and a lovely meal, we will be back

I came here recently and ordered food explaining that I have an egg allergy. The lovely young lady behind the bar, Stella, pointed out that my order actually contained eggs even though their allergens website stated that my order was safe for me to eat.... I've just called back and Stella, not only remembered who I was, but informed me that their menu has since been altered because of our last conversation, and that my previous order is now egg free. (Which I had and was awesome- steak and ale pie) This has to be service above and beyond. What a fantastic, friendly venue. My wife and I cannot fault Stella or her team at the Halfway. If you haven't been here then you are missing a treat. 10/10. Also very dog friendly.
