Dantes at the Halfway House in Chorley

Having been during the week I expected the same standard for Sunday lunch. Disappointingly Sunday lunch was only average. The meat appeared to be pre packaged rather than sliced from a recently cooked joint.. going large should have included pigs in blankets... regrettably there was only one!. Overall nothing to write home about.

Had the Christmas menu tonight, 1st class all the way. Food was 5 star, host and staff were 5 star and waddled away full up and very satisfied

Came for a festive three course meal with the family. The food was amazing and so much of it! Service from Stella and the team was fabulous & the DJ was playing some great music which added to the atmosphere. I can’t recommend this place enough!

If you are looking for a venue to meet friends for a Christmas meal give this one a miss. If you have no taste buds and like a huge plate of carvery style food, then this might be the place for you. The duck and Cointreau pate was totally tasteless and was served with the soggiest apology for toast, which I suspect had been lying around for some time. The main course of turkey arrived on a large, oval plate which was piled high. The turkey breast was tender and delicious. However we had to ask for some cranberry sauce to accompany it. The large Yorkshire pudding was cold, unseasoned and chewy. The roast potatoes were over cooked and like leather. Buried at the bottom of the pile was some mashed potato which was palatable, but took a while to discover. All the vegetables were over cooked and unseasoned. There was a large slice of bland stuffing and a small chipolata wrapped in soft, fatty bacon. Overall it appeared that everything had been preprepared and reheated before serving as opposed to being freshly cooked. Had the restaurant been busy, there may have been some excuse for this during the Christmas season. However there were only two other small tables of diners during the whole evening. Needless to say, when my plate was cleared away it went back to the kitchen with a large pile of all that was inedible!

Good food good portions, good staff I don't need to say anything else.

Very well catered for, as there were 12 of us for a Christmas lunch on a Sunday..We had all the trimmings including crackers.

Fabulous evening celebrating my daughter's hen party. We used the private function room. Can't recommend Stella and the team enough. Fantastic food, DJ, room hire, welcome cocktails. A great time was had by all. Thank you

Food, drink and people are all superb. They adapted the menu to suit me, so much so we're not bothering going anywhere else.

Our party of 11 visited last night. Had a wonderful time. The food was lovely and all the courses came together and on time. The pub decor was really nice and very clean. The fire was very welcoming, especially at this time of year. Stella and the team of staff were so friendly and accommodating. Our large party only get to meet up a few times of year, so it means a lot when everyone has a great experience. We have an even larger party of family to book for a family reunion and will not hesitate to book Halfway House again.

SUNDAY ROAST DINNER One of the best I've ever eaten. There is nothing to find fault with, everything was perfect. A very homely place with nice service. I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE And I will definitely come back there ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The place wasn’t busy but food seemed to take a long while to come out. We even had to wait about 25 minutes between the starters and mains.

I went for the first time in the 4+ years I've lived up here ! Drove past many times just not passing a second thought . Anyway it was about 2 weeks ago on a Sunday , me, my partner and little one went up to try their Sunday dinner. I can't fault the presentation as it looked amazing when it came out the only real fault was it lacked flavour in my opinion. Other than that it's a beautiful little pub , family friendly and the staff are lovely. It's definitely worth a visit 🙂👍

Nice place to stop for a drink and or a meal. Plenty of free off road parking. Both my starter dishes were very taaty and very quick service. Travelodge next door, which is very handy ! Staff were very friendly.

I hosted a macmillan coffee morning here today and received the most amazing the customer service. From me booking the venue until the very day the staff here were consistent in contacting me and were really helpful when I asked any questions. Because of the management/team efforts, it’s ended up been an amazing turnout and I could not have done it without the amazing staff there! Brilliant customer service we will definitely be coming back :)

The food is excellent and really enjoyed it - very tasty and pies home made. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and is very clean. The staff are very welcoming and polite - nothing is a problem. I will definitely visit again and recommending to friends and family. Also considering using for a function as they have a great space for private parties.

Well I'm thrilled to say that having had a few less than great meals here in the past 12 months, we decided to visit for tea and see if things had improved, and they certainly have! I ordered the cajun chicken faijitas and my husband had the cheese pie chips and peas - and both meals were lovely. Hot when they arrived, clearly cooked fresh - and delicious! If you've been put off in the past because of a less than great meal, do go back and try again. We were very happy!

This is a welcoming pub that has excellent food and service. There is a good quality car park with ample spaces. The burger that I had was to die for. If I was on death row about to be executed I would want that burger as my last meal. It was that good.

Visited for a leaving lunch, was quite cold as they had only just opened, they did put the fire on when we asked though. I was quite disapointed as there wasnt a great deal of choice for people with intollerances/preference meals and no dairy alternative fir drinks. That said .......food came out and its vegan pizza matched that of Nels pizza in mamchester, its the best i have eaten. All colleagues said similar about their food too. Service was great, happy, obliging, chatty just what you need. Recomendatiin woukd be to go not bob on opening, if you have dietary requirement ring ahead, they will sort this out for you, all in all food made up for anything else 💚

Came for food with the family - what a lovely pub! i recommend the fish and chips! but maybe the small because wow large is definitely filling! my husband enjoyed his chicken dinner! my daughters got given this colouring competition which kept them quiet so thank you! service was great especially the ginger one didn’t quite catch her name :)

Brought the family to eat a couple of times over summer, including my parents visiting from Malaysia. They found the service from the young staff to be warm and welcoming. Stella, in particular, really made an impression with her friendliness and helpfulness. We enjoyed the food that we ordered. I had the Tower burger on both occasions, and there were no complaints about the rest of the meals. All in all an enjoyable place for a meal out locally.

What a fabulous pub, I popped in a couple of times for tea and sampled some great ales, the food was excellent with a varied menu to suit all tastes. I found the service to be outstanding, the staff are very professional, attentive, polite, and cheerful. A big thank you to Stella and Kieron who were superb, first class service and a credit to the chain.

Surely living off past reputation, quality of produce was very poor. Either management are grabbing cash before closure or they’re running this in to the ground. Won’t go back. Lovely place for a drink though.

Food was average and waited a while for food

Went on a Sunday for a roast dinner and ordered roast beef. It arrived quite quickly but wasn’t hot and the vegetables were overcooked, the gravy was tasteless. No one asked if we were enjoying our meal. Will not be returning

Stella at the Half Way House in Clayton le Woods must be one of the most customer friendly people in the north of England. She has such a friendly and positive approach and nothing seems to be too much trouble. She is also extremely dog friendly. I recommend a visit to the pub and you will surely see just what I mean!

Greek flatbread bit of a let down for the price

Stopped for one night in the Travelodge near the halfway house. We called in for a meal after a long drive it was a very relaxing atmosphere with great food. Customer service was 5 star

I was recently visiting a friend in the area and we went here for dinner and drinks with a couple of her friends. The pub is large with plenty of seating and was very aesthetically attractive. They had a lovely menu for food and drinks. Two of us had a roast, one meat one veggie both were very much enjoyed and recommended for future visits. I had the sea bass which was very delicious and the flavours were perfect, I'll definitely be having that again. The pub felt like a good place for all ages, perfect for families and friends going out for dinner but also equally good for meeting for a few drinks with mates and enjoying whatever is on the screens. I highly recommend this pub and will be revisiting when I next visit the area.

We travelled from Brighton and booked a Travel Lodge that was close proximity to a pub, what an absolute gem of a place. The service from the 2 lads behind the bar was great and the food was outstanding and the place was spotlessly clean! Absolutely loved the menu for the dogs too!!!

Great food and a nice pint next door to travel lodge I didn't have to wait for food food was well presented only two niggles plates please instead of bits of wood food looks pretty on the wood but not very practical in my view salt pots I tried 3 didn't work even though they were full 4th one worked for two twists and then stopped? Could be they not long been washed and then got clumped up from being damp ? But I will say a enjoyable clean tasty experience Will come back when in area

I will 100% be returning, came here for work and stayed next door. Every time we came in we were treated like a local. Lovely couple who run the pub, felt like I was leaving my local when we changed jobs. Cheers guys!

We had the best Sunday lunch here. Lots of real not frozen veg, plenty of lovely meats. We meet with friends here who had dietary needs and everyone was catered for. The girls couldn't be more helpful and friendly. Great service

Lovely place with a quiet yet warm environment. The drinks and food can be a little pricey but I highly rate the Sunday roasts!

Food was okay. Slightly on the cools side. Burgers were good. The beef brisket was cold on top but the bacon tasted nice a little to fatty for my liking. Fries were good but I would have liked alot more coleslaw than a bit put on a small leaf of baby gem lettuce.

Couldn't fault it apart from the pizza menu that was well hidden in between the drinks menu and the same size. Was going to order pizza but went for the 10oz gammon steak which was amazing.

Gorgeous weather so walked to Half Way House C-le-W. Big mistake, decided to sit outside on dirty tables, had to ask for it to be cleaned. The couple who arrived on the table next to us, wouldn’t put their drinks on the table. Ordered food, my husbands arrived, he ate his and I went to see where mine was, just as the waitress was bringing it out. I told her we ordered it together, to be eaten together and asked her to refund mine. She said that the food she brought for my husband was not his and that it shouldn’t have been served to him. I told her that she should have relayed that to us, it’s just good manners, isn’t it? after waiting 20 plus minutes for her to deliver food. She refunded the money, we left and we’re now home with me eating crisps and a sandwich, Guys you need to get your act together, customers like clean surfaces and deserve them to eat from. Customers should expect good customer service and good quality food, nothing less. We only live 400 yards away but will not be returning.

All the staff were great, friendly and helpful. One in particular was very good, I needed a little more help than I would normally with just having had surgery, so I would like to thank zack for all his help, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you very much.

We [a large group of 19 adults & 19 children] were staying at the hotel next door for a football trip; and they couldn’t have been more helpful! From taking my phone call enquiries weeks in advance, to booking us tables/a function room to accommodate everyone (even on a busy bank holiday weekend!); taking pre-orders to speed the food up; communication & personal touch/customer service was second-to-none; and just lovely, friendly people in general! Our whole trip has been made a hundred times better by having The Halfway House next to our hotel for breakfast & dinner (and evening drinks!) each day - and we will definitely be returning next year, if we come back this way! Thank you Stella & team; keep up the great work! ⭐️

Whilst visiting family and staying nearby decided to eat here, first night 16 we pre booked and had 4 tables in the bar the second night 13 and hadn’t booked, both nights empty plates and happy bellies, 90th birthday celebration everyone singing happy birthday made the night, great friendly staff, great value lovely food, comfortable venue with a good atmosphere.

The Halfway house is an incredible pub/restaurant for a date. Preparation and timing was great for the food. And your waitress drew had a positive attitude with a smile and the atmosphere was great bingo night wasn't as loud very chill thank you so much🙂

Was in the area for work recently so popped to the halfway house with colleagues for food and drinks. What a welcoming atmosphere and staff, especially Abigail who was incredibly attentive throughout our time there. What a gem! Everything on the menu looked amazing but finally opted for the 3 cheese and onion pie which was amazing!

Went here for a few drinks after work, first time going which is always a little intimidating, had a lovely girl called Tanisha I believe help with the drinks and some conversation, would reccommend for a nice night.

Nice pizza and biscoff cheesecake! Waiter was very friendly, attentive and funny.

Fantastic service by Abi both food and drink. Grilled fillet of seabass was very tasty.

I have had to split this review in half. 1. We attended a birthday party and had a wonderful time. The place was clean and tidy, the staff were all nice friendly and helpful and my daughter enjoyed the food we ordered for her. 2. Based on this, we returned the following morning for Breakfast. Google and their website advertise as being open for food at 9am on a Saturday and Sunday. The building was locked up and in darkness. Tried calling to see if we were missing anything, but there was no answer. A recent (3 weeks previous) tripadvisor review mentioned breakfast so must have been a recent change.

Decent place to stop for a drink and people watch. Staff are friendly and although we haven't eaten here the menu looks interesting and other people seem happy with their food. Pretty quiet in the week but busier at weekends.

booked a baby shower for my sister everything was fine up until 2 days before having the baby shower they decide to inform me that they don't do outside catering after us buying all the food and decoration and inviting over 30 people we now have to find an alternative function room with 1 day before the event is to take place. The manager was snotty and has has left us in a mess totally unprofessional to say the least

Walked into the restraunt in not the best of moods due the horrible rain we’ve been having however this was shortly changed after an incredible meal served by some of the loveliest staff I’ve experienced in particular a young girl named Abi who was very polite and a joy to be around!
