This cafe has just won Best Cafe in England Award..........whilst this is a lovely cafe and adjoining shop the menu is definitely lacking. For people with dairy or egg intolerances or requiring vegan diets there is nothing . We mentioned about dairy/egg allergies and asked if they had anything vegan. Was told nothing on the menu but they could "veganise" anything on the menu. Great we thought...... we opted for a vegetarian sausage bap which we were told was actually vegan..... after about 10 minutes we were told they didn't have any; but they could rustle up a delicious vegan breakfast instead. Excellent we thought....... after about 20 minutes the food arrived with dry toast, (no dairyfree spread), a few undercooked mushrooms and tomato, a small pot of beans and a couple of handmade potato cakes which were nice ..... all topped off with a fried egg!!!! They clearly do not understand that dairy and eggs can be very dangerous for people with allergies. Lovely cafe if you can eat anything otherwise don't bother

Lovely stopping off point after a long walk. First class food- both the evening meal and the breakfast. Lots of little extra touches that made the stay perfect including a place to leave soggy boots to dry off so they were nice and toastie the next morning. Welcoming host who made this solo female walker feel safe and welcome. Highly recommended.

Beautiful overnight stay for a special occasion. From the pre-stay phone call right through to departure the customer service was faultless. On arrival, the welcome was warm and convivial, professional but friendly. Our room (standard) was sumptuous and warm, all the toiletries was beautiful quality. The food and drinks offer was outstanding and dinner was exceptionally fabulous. What a wonderful stay - and thank you to everyone 👏👏

Superb food and service, I did say to the chap it was the best tuna/mayo baguette I have had and I've around for a few years. My good lady said the same about the bacon and brie baguette. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Also seems a local favourite. A gem. 👍👍👍

Nice little community cafe with shop attached. Had scones and hot drinks and did a purchase from the shop. Pleasant surroundings and nice coffee and scones. Will visit again.

Excellent food and friendly service. We enjoyed some well prepared jacket potatoes with a good selection of toppings. Drinks included a tasty local ginger beer. We were almost tempted by a great looking tiramisu cake but managed to resist.

The food is decent most of the time, the coffee poor and the staff amazing. I get the impression this place is struggling financially the way they chop and change between cafe and 'restaurant', with the never ending excuse of lack of staff. It seems excuse after excuse for not providing what is promised. After a massive wait for the Italian Pizzeria, that turned out to be a disappointment and disappeared without trace. The cafe menu that never changed, suddenly did with massive price increases and then shortly after without warning it's a slimmed down very basic menu with no breakfast options. Not really worth the trip out for. When there was a slim choice of meals on the menu they were overpriced and badly thought out. I have no idea how this place won a best cafe award other than it must have been a very steep entrance fee. The cakes are amazing to look at, but for that price they can stay in the cabinet.
