The best restaurants in Chester-le-Street South County Durham North East

Food is alright, but service is shocking, prices are in small print at the bottom of the menu and then the bill is wrote by hand making it hard to figure out what is what. The lighting in the restaurant is like a dentist office and they play loud electronic music which doesn’t match the scene at all. Could be a great place but just a few things letting it down.

Nice to go for a quick drink and food

I visited the Woodlands today for the Christmas Fayre Lunch. I had ordered a starter which never arrived! The Turkey roast dinner was very nice, however, it was cold and the gravy luke warm.. I had the Christmas pudding for dessert which was overcooked and very dry as though it had been cooked in the microwave too long!

Me and my family spend thousands at sorrento every year after receiving a wrap which was 9.90 6 bits of meat inside I will never spend another penny again on this takeaway shop and friends and family will be following suit ..

Food is very nice well worth it good portions and the staff are friendly it might help if they sorted the app out what's the point saying its open on the app when ifs NOT!

I came in earlier this week and had a brilliant meal and the service was excellent.

We've waited nearly an hour and still no food arrived ,service atrocious,venue not very warm either ,a lot on menu was not available !

Excellent early meal with superb service. Lovely atmosphere and staff very friendly. Will definitely be going again.

Lovely little cafe. Nice food and coffee and very well decorated inside. The staff were very friendly particularly a nice young man behind the till. We didn’t even notice there was an outdoor area, but I imagine on a sunny day like today, that would be a lovely place to sit with a coffee.

The Venue This pub/restaurant is just off the A167 and not far from the A1 for anyone travelling. It’s very well done out inside with a more theme but keeping local roots at the focus of the decor The food The starter I choose Doreen’s Black Pudding, it was absolutely delicious, the leek and smoked bacon sauce works really well with the poached egg 8/10 The main I went for the double one burger. The burger was spot on. Meat cheese and bacon is simple but this is done so well. I really enjoyed my main The staff This was the only let down to the meal, our order wasn’t taken for atleast 35 minutes of being in the venue (which wasn’t too busy). The drink I ordered had to be chased at the bar even though my server and 2 other staff were having a break by the till. I have been to this pub before and had outstanding service so I am hoping this is an isolated incident. Recommendation I would and do go back most weeks as this is a local and have recommended to family and friends

My favourite chippy! Food is cooked to order and is always so fresh and delicious. Absolutely love the staff too, always so friendly and energetic! Music videos while you wait - love it!
