The Chester Moor Inn in County Durham

Fab food and service. There was 6 of us for my daughter's birthday we all enjoyed the food not one complaint. Have to say my steak was delicious seasoned and cooked to perfection (medium). I do like to try different places around where I live and this one is now up there with the best I have eaten at.

Amazing food. Just wish they still served local ales.

Asked for a table for 1 for sunday dinner, "we dont have a table for 1" Traveled from chester-le-street on mobility scooter. Not be back here again. Terrible

Came here after a visit the week before when I noticed the food being served. Straight away I knew what I wanted. The mix grill.... So mix grill, liver bacon and mash for the missus, a berry crumble ,a white wine and a pint 50 quid. Unreal. A collosal amount of meat. Rump, gammon, pork chop, sausage (4), chicken, egg, onions, mushrooms and a tomato. Or and a bowl of chips. I couldn't finish and neither could the wife with hers. Could have been 5 stars but I think we made the mistake of going in last orders around 8 o'clock so chips were overdone. Other than that spot on.

The food is fabulous and very good portion sizes, would highly recommend the mixed grill or the ribeye steak and they have a great vegetarian selection too, staff are great and manager only to happy to help anyway he can john g

Great food. They have a lunchtime special, you can get 2 meals for £19.99. Hubby had fish, chips and mushy peas. I had chicken parmo, chips and salad. Great meals. Don't know how they do the chips but they were the best we have had for a long time.

Lovely little place with a good drinks selection and good food. The menu is surprisingly varied and the service superb. Plenty of parking directly outside. Place is clean and comfortable.

Not a great parmo , dual burger was more cheese than burger which we did mention to staff. However food was nice and hot and staff very nice and helpful with good service

The 4 of us revisited this pub again in Wednesday evening. We were warmly greeted and shown to our seats. Once drink were ordered we chose from the extensive menu that they have available. The waitress was very informative about the chefs specials and kindly explained the deals of the day. They have 2 for £20 on select meals which we all ordered. The place is really relaxing and even though it was very busy, there was no noise. Our meals came out piping hot and correct to what we all ordered. The service was really professional and the timing of the meals was perfect. All meals were absolutely delicious and with that in mind we all decided to try the desserts. Wow. They were fantastic. In all round a great place to eat and drink. Highly recommended

The food looked amazing and tasted pretty nice, we both had the chicken Parmo the reason for the for the 4 stars is because although it was nice and we would go back it wasn't the nicest we have had. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other dishes as they looked amazing.

Don’t normally write reviews but I would highly recommend you keep your chefs on board as they are the reason people keep coming back time and time again . The food was excellent, fresh vegetables and cooked to perfection. The Sunday roasts are what you expect like your mother used to make , and plentiful. Forget the price!! as long as it’s fresh and delicious. Highly recommend.

Overpriced. Nachos were £12 (!) and nothing fresh on the plate. Received an end of the barrel ale (only one one and didn’t offer anything else) then a badly poured Guinness to replace + glass of average £8.50 wine. All that for £25.75!! Ouch

This place is beautiful, the staff are so friendly and the service was great. We went for the Sunday roast and "wow" it was fantastic, exceeding all expectations and plenty of it, it's not often you get value for your money these day's but here you definitely do, I just couldn't fault the whole experience..... 5 stars!!!! A wow of a Sunday dinner 🌟🌟 service quick food in ample supply and staff very friendly.. alternatives on menu also just in case you didn’t fancy a toast… when you taste it you’ll realise it’s a good choice! Good selection of meat and plenty of veg to accompany a superb Yorkshire!

Sunday lunch was gorgeous, staff were so helpful. A shame the table next to us had a 4-5 year old listening to loud music on their tablet. Fortunately we were nearly finished our meal.

My new go to pub for good food in a welcoming atmosphere. Sunday lunches are fabulous, Christmas lunches with friends were excellent for the 2nd year and evening meals are really nice all served with a friendly smile 👍

Very disappointed whilst food was good pub cold. There were empty tables near fire however staff sat us next to door. No one used these tables during our visit. Found the member of staff very unfriendly will not be returning there.

Booked a table in advance although there was no need as being early Jan, they were relatively quiet, shown to our table & menus provided, drinks order taken whilst waiting for family to arrive, tbh there was such a range on the menu it took us a while to order. The food when it arrived was well presented & tasted wonderful, was piping hot too which was a bonus, kids & hubby got a pudding each, hubby devoured the Eton mess, kids couldn’t eat their sticky toffee puddings as the portions were huge, would suggest you possibly share but I’m not a pudding person although they looked & smelt amazing. Based on this experience we would definitely return & recommend to others, shout out to John the member of staff dealing with us who was really engaging & very pleasant, thank you!

Regularly visit Chester Moor and have yet to be disappointed with the friendly service and the quality and style of the meals. It would be great to be able book a table online.

Me and 3 friends had a great evening in Chester Moor, we went on Wednesday evening, ordered 3 sirloin steaks, and a lamb joint, all cooked to perfection and fairly priced. We then joined the quiz which was great fun.

Called in again for lunch, easy to book by phone although didn't seem too busy. Drinks order taken straight away, then asked if we were ready to order food. 2 x prawn cocktail (throwback to younger times lol) then 2 roast beef. Starter arrived quickly, prawn cocktail very tasty, just enough without being too much. Beef arrived with side dishes of broccoli cheese, turnip and mixed bowl of carrot cabbage and peas. All veg well done, not too soft. Meat lovely and tender, melted in the mouth. Excellent service, helpful without being intrusive. All in all, another lovely meal, definitely will be calling back again.

We called in this ph for lunch and found it very nice.We ordered foid from the 2 x £20 menu which runs Mon- Fri 12 - 5pm.We ordered steak pie and leek dumpling with mince and both with veg and chips.The chips were homemade and very nice.The steak pie was very nice as were the mince and leek dumpling.All in all a very nice lunch with one mark being taken off due to the adding of a service charge when paying by card - let the customer decide if a service charge is to be paid in cash.The service was very friendly and we shall return.

Called in for a meal on a lunchtime off the lunch deal 2 x £20 which runs Mon- Fri 12 - 5pm.The chips were homemade and lovely as we're the two meals - steak pie and mince with leek dumpling.My only gripe is the automatic service charge which is added 10%.Lager is £5 per pint for madri.Plenty of parking available and a very friendly service.We shall return.

We pop every now and then, normally after I have visited my sister, but today was one of the best visits Sunday lunch, 10 out 10, food, service, very welcoming. We will definitely be back. Warm welcome, delicious Sunday lunch with all the trimmings at a reasonable price. We’d defo revisit during the week. Easy to park but recommend booking as gets busy at the weekend.

We hadn’t been here for a few years but read it was under new management.Four of us booked for lunch & what a fabulous experience it was! The staff are warm,welcoming & professional, the atmosphere is perfect.The menu has plenty to choose from & it was refreshing to see a good selection of homely & different choices from the starters,mains & desserts.The presentation of all the meals was definitely 5 star! Highly recommend & I’m already looking forward to our return.

Staff were nice. The food was very disappointing. Chips were nice but I got the Parmo and the chicken was the worst I've had. Every mouthful was full of hard, chewy bits. It really was disgusting, I couldn't eat it. I scraped the cheese off to dip my chips in. I wasn't asked why I'd left my entire meal when it was taken away and I didn't want to cause a fuss. But I think they should use better quality chicken for the price. My friend got the mince and dumplings which was nice apparently. Pro: Dog friendly.

Visited the Chester moor pub today for lunch, absolutely fabulous, food was gorgeous, we will definitely be back.

Hot beer on tap was the only problem for this lunch. Note, from Monday to Friday, the lunch menu allows you to have two single main courses for 20 pounds sterling (otherwise for the evening eg on weekends these same dishes are each worth between 16 and 20 pounds). Comfort, cleanliness, design, lights, friendly service, good food, everything is there to have a good time. It will therefore just be enough to ask to taste the draft beer before taking your glass to be sure that several services have been carried out before and that the beer will be fresh... or not to take draft beers (which would be a shame because it is excellent -lol).

Called in today and we were greeted by 2 lovely young lads we hadn't booked but were seated straight away and in a few minutes we had drinks and had ordered food. We haven't been here for quite a while but the pub has had a massive refurb, totally different looks really stunning. Not usually one for taking foodie photos BUT when our food arrived we both grabbed our phones. Food was beautiful, Cod and a Parmo, homemade chips & fresh salad, both large portions we were absolutley stuffed! Staff were really friendly, it's a gorgeous pub and fab food.
