I visited Sticks 'n' Sushi for New Year's Eve dinner with high expectations, given the brand's marketing for high-end Japanese quality. Unfortunately, I deeply regret this choice – even a modest pizza restaurant would have been preferable to spending our time and money here. Despite positive reviews from others, the only genuine positive was the service, which was both prompt and well-organized. The food quality, however, was merely on par with typical Japanese takeaway establishments. The ebi panko appeared to be either pre-frozen or prepared hours in advance, arriving cold and lacking the crispy texture advertised in their photos. The sushi rolls were disappointingly bland, particularly the Alaska roll, which received unanimous criticism when shared around our table. Even the more elaborate dishes lacked the flavor complexity and culinary craftsmanship one would expect at this price point. The disappointment extended to dessert, where the chocolate sponge was served cold, and the matcha cream was so weak it was barely discernible. The vanilla ice cream tasted identical to budget supermarket varieties, lacking any artisanal quality you'd expect. We left feeling thoroughly disappointed, and I won't be returning to any Sticks 'n' Sushi location.

Amazing food and service from Sam Singh. Great setting. Really good for the children and family friendly. Would recommend

I arrived at an excellent time, there was virtually no queue and I had great service. Plenty of choice of where to sit. I was offered a choice of hot or cold pastry, I chose cold. My drink was a little longer to prepare so they offered to bring it to my table which they did and offered to get sugar if needed. I didn't.

We've been here before when visiting London and so were delighted to find an empty table on the pavement as we passed it about 7pm hours before lockdown 2 in early November 2020. Not just a table but one with a patio heater above! We have had excellent food here in the past and this time was no exception but we were delighted to extend our repetoire in trying the lamb kebabs which were delicious. As were the moutabal (smoked aubergine dip) with home made flatbread and half a chicken with two sauces (we chose garlic and cucumber and mint). The chicken is moist and so very tasty. Everything was perfect. They told us how we could order via Deliveroo but sadly, living in Cambridge, we can't. We shall just dream of our next chance to visit when in London.

We came here for the garden, though there is also a cafe at the entrance and a nice cafe with table service in the main house. FAR better value and better quality than National Trust places such as Sissinghurst. The gardens are spectacular. Very large. Very neat and totally immaculate. Surrounded by spectacular Kent countryside as far as the eye can see. The Yew hedges are stunning. The walled garden is superb. The topiary is superb too. My wife is extremely keen on gardens and this is easily the most memorable one I have been to anywhere in the South East apart from it's equal Great Dixter. Both beat Sissinghurst (which is the tourist destination and frozen in time) hands down. They also don't have keep out signs everywhere - so you can go in the greenhouses and fully experience the place. In June the Delphinium display (national collection I believe) is fantastic. Godinton is superb value. Highly recommended and great credit to the head gardener Viv Hunt.
