My favourite place to visit when near Cambridge. You could not ask for a more quintessential pub experience than at Chequers in Fowlmere. Everyone here is so kind, generous, and social. Chris and Jade are the best - love me some Struan! Even visitors feel like they've been going to this pub for years and are just part of the whole crew. Can't think of a better place to celebrate a birthday with friends, have a pint with your best friend, or just enjoy some fantastic British food and drink. Can't wait to go back again!

Today we decided to have dinner at Club Polonia in Cambridge and I can honestly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates Polish food! Even though there was a fun senior party going on, the hosts welcomed us very warmly and made us feel welcome right away. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was unique. I definitely recommend it!

Faith in humanity restored! Vegetarian/vegan or not, the food is genuinely outstanding! My boyfriend and I both had the gnocchi which was recommended to us, honestly one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. The staff are so caring and friendly and make you feel so welcome and comfortable. The beautiful loft setting filled with plants and pretty lights makes for a memorable evening. This is quickly becoming our favourite place to eat!

The best cafe in Norfolk ❤️ always delicious food, well presented, good value, lovely staff, super clean - you can’t go wrong! Really lovely vegetarian breakfast with halloumi. We’ve been many times over the years and it never disappoints! The (new?) younger man who served us was a great addition to your team!

We were in the Norwich area and required food. This popped up as one of the nearest places and we didn’t even look at the menu. We walked in and got a table without booking. When nosying around I started to get the feel for the place. We’ve been to Michelin star and fine dining places enough and as such expectations are raised as well as the menu prices. Staff were experienced and very helpful when catering for my food intolerances, the decor well appointed and rustic and the aromas from the kitchen were hunger inducing and we like the ethos around locally sourced food. We just wanted a bite to eat so only had a main meal. The Pheasant dish arrived as did the venison for my wife, I got food envy. A well presented plate but was underwhelmed by the portion size and didn’t leave me satisfied. Perhaps as part of a three course menu it would have been about right. The meat was well cooked but seemed to lack the game flavour I was expecting. The sauce was a little bitter and left a slight burnt aftertaste I wasn’t overly fond of. The accompaniments were well cooked. The venison and sauce were unctuous, the portion a great size but given the near 150% price difference quite honestly I would have expected more and my wife still managed it all. It would be a little harsh to give just 3 stars and I really struggle with this review. I tend to avoid hotel restaurants as the prices do tend to be inflated and we didn’t check the place out thoroughly, it also isn’t a Michelin star restaurant, although seems close to it and so shouldn’t be held to quite that high an account - very tricky. Would we eat there again? Maybe.
