The best restaurants in The Rodings Uttlesford East of England

Great service and meal, our waitress Marketan was efficient. Have been here a number of times, look forward to seeing the renovations when you reopened in March Local pup

For a set price you get three exceptional courses. The price we paid was £49.50 per person. The host Peter is a warm friendly person. Ideal for front of house. His wife is the chef. After an appariteth we were shown to our table. My wife and I both had prawns as the starter. They were huge and very meaty. Next we had chateaux briand for two. The meat was excellent. Finally my wife had two sweets from the sweet trolley both excellent. I had crumbly stilton and biscuits.My wife liked white wine and I prefer red, so Peter opened a bottle of each and we only paid for the amount we had drunk. A nice touch.On the down side the restaurant is only open on Fridays and Saturdays. Also as it is very popular, when full it is quiet noisy but don't let that put you off a fabulous restaurant.

Very friendly welcome, great locally sourced ingredients and super home made cakes, yum yum yum! Highly recommended it.

We booked a table for Tuesday evening, lovely decor but the slowest service possible. Only 2 people serving, some food even brought out by chef. Staff looked stressed, and were rushing around. Food nice but didn’t have dessert as couldn’t wait that long.

Been before and food and service have always been good. BEWARE! There is a 10% service charge which they don't mention on their website. It maybe on the menu but I did not look.

We had a lovely visit to the Butchers Arms where we found excellent choices on the menu. Between us we had fish and chips, roast duck and mezze (absolutely delicious and new on the menu). For desserts we had cheesecake, profiteroles, sticky toffee pudding and Eton mess. There was a large group in on the day we visited but the staff were amazing in managing to serve us all, always with a smile on their faces. We highly recommend the Butchers Arms and know that we will be returning again soon.
