I’d rate this 5/5 on service alone as it was exceptional, which is such a rare thing these days! All the staff, and there are plenty, are gracious, attentive and thoughtful without being overbearing or pushy. The Suffield Arms has a great menu on offer with a wide selection of sophisticated tapas (ie not just Patatas bravas and chorizo), a couple of pasta dishes and pizzas plus specials. The food was exceptional - I had Sole (a special) and my husband had pizza which we finished with a shared delicious tiramisu (plenty for us). It’s worth mentioning the great selection of beer, wine and cocktails on offer and the impressive and comfortable surroundings. There is a general bar which is simply furnished and includes a pool table, a stylish upstairs lounge bar as well as the elegant dining room and continental feeling walled garden with views across the surrounding countryside. The Suffield Arms is right next to Gunton station so handy for a trip from Cromer or North Walsham.

Picked up takeaway fish and chips on our way home from Cromer. The chips were good, however, cod was inedible. It was dry and so hard we couldn't eat it. The batter was so hard we couldn't cut with a knife. Can only assume that it was cooked and kept hot for a very long time. Not good enough at £17.60 for two pieces of cod which we threw away and £4.00 for a large portion of chips, albeit good, except we didn't ask for a large portion. Very disappointing, and won't be visiting again.

Over priced! £11.95 for toasted sandwich that came with small side salad, small pot shop bought coleslaw and handful chips. Had bacon and brie filling with so much cranberry it tasted more like jam sandwich. With a coffee each bill came to £33. Most costly lunch I've had for ages. Won't be rushing back.

Expectations were reasonably high despite being unable to book for the later evening spot and with a dog only able to sit in the rear room. So what was it like? Pretty average and for the cost poor. The food was at best OK - portions were small and the food served nothing special indeed I would suggest nothing about the food would see you want to return. The wine - white chardonnay was frankly horrible, the house carafe no worse so perhaps the better choice. The atmosphere was pretty much non existent and the chairs possibly the most uncomfortable I have had the misfortune to sit upon. In summary extremely disappointing. I will stick to having a drink in the bar and give the dining experience a complete swerve.
