I’d rate this 5/5 on service alone as it was exceptional, which is such a rare thing these days! All the staff, and there are plenty, are gracious, attentive and thoughtful without being overbearing or pushy. The Suffield Arms has a great menu on offer with a wide selection of sophisticated tapas (ie not just Patatas bravas and chorizo), a couple of pasta dishes and pizzas plus specials. The food was exceptional - I had Sole (a special) and my husband had pizza which we finished with a shared delicious tiramisu (plenty for us). It’s worth mentioning the great selection of beer, wine and cocktails on offer and the impressive and comfortable surroundings. There is a general bar which is simply furnished and includes a pool table, a stylish upstairs lounge bar as well as the elegant dining room and continental feeling walled garden with views across the surrounding countryside. The Suffield Arms is right next to Gunton station so handy for a trip from Cromer or North Walsham.

The food, service and venue were amazing. We had a great time seated at the bar in the restaurant. We had 6 tapas dishes between the two of us and they were all amazing.

We had a great meal. We came from Norwich on the 11.45am train to Gunton - two minutes from the venue. All looked beautiful, it was very comfortable, they were very friendly and the food was delicious. It was on the expensive side but not stupid prices. As the food is all Mediterranean and Tapas products are not locally sourced except for the Cromer 'lobster' at £50! It would be good to see some greater local support. Very different to drinking there 43 years ago!!

We spotted this establishment from the train, escaping from the dreadful North Walsham on a trip to Cromer and decided to give it a try. Note, it's not marked on the OS 1:25000 map for some reason, so had we not been passing through Gunton station, we would have been unaware of its' existence. We thought it was a fabulous find: the service, food, ambience and building were first class. Yes, it's not inexpensive in terms of food but you can just stop by for a drink. We had marinated olives, harissa lamb (brilliant), jamon, cecina (delicious), venison meatballs (spicy sauce), potato and onion tortiila, finished off with a really tasty vanilla ice cream whilst my partner had a dessert that mimicked salami (but was sweet). It was a birthday night out so we weren't too worried about the cost, which we don't think was actually excessive, given the quality of the offerings. Another great plus point is that The Suffield Arms is literally a minute's walk from Gunton train station, so if you don't want to drive, that's an option. Having been fortunate enough to occasionally eat out at some of the great restaurants in the UK, we'd put this firmly in our top ten, no question. Highly recommended.

This pub/restaurant is worth a visit for the decor alone and especially the spectacular upstairs saloon bar. In the restaurant on the ground floor six of us were perfectly accommodated at a semi private table. Call ahead to check opening times of the upstairs bar or to make table bookings. The service was welcoming, friendly and professional. An excellent ambience was supported by muted and classy background music. The tapas menu was comprehensive without being overly ambitious, the food was excellent and served correctly, freshly cooked as it came from the kitchen. My family were very happy with the Cava wine and a draft beer called 'Yes'. The prices do reflect the quality of the experience and this business deserves custom for the thought and effort that has gone into it. I recommend it unhesitatingly

A beautiful pub, great beer. They no longer sell Pizza in the main bar. Food now is only bar snack & tapas from the main restaurant. Tapas is good and interesting but VERY small portions so heavily overpriced for what you get. Ends up very expensive

Best takeaway in town, fact! Friendly, well priced and always top quality. They also sponsor the local youth Rugby team, and sometimes supply the after match food!

Wasted an hour of our lives waiting for this awful food. We were greeted by miserable staff who looked annoyed to take our order and we then sat on hard chairs waiting for an hour to get 3 simple meals. The staff all looked fed up and angry, we never saw a smile once and every customer was greeted with a surly attitude. Eventually got our food which can only be described as average and definitely not worth the wait. We will never return.
