The best restaurants in The Stonhams Mid Suffolk East of England

I’ve been to the Milk Shed twice with a couple of work colleagues, once under the previous owners and more recently under the new management. All three of us ordered the avocado, halloumi and poached eggs on sourdough, which was nicely presented and perfectly cooked. I enjoyed a charcuterie board on a previous visit. Parking is a little tight in the car park, but there’s plenty on the road outside if needed.

Great place for food and refreshments and an array of shops including antiques

We usually love coming here for breakfast - I ordered poached egg on toast, unfortunately when this came out my eggs were hard boiled - the waitress came and said she would get me some more eggs cooked. This took almost 20 minutes by which time my toast had gone cold. My mum ordered a simple bacon sandwich which came on stale bread and was so burnt she could hardly eat it. Finally got my eggs and they weren't much better! Such a shame as they used to do a lovely breakfast.

Lovely brunch, great paninis and bagels... much more than we expected. Well worth visit we would say!

Great venue for any occasion, we wanted a holiday break, evening meal and found this delightful pub/restaurant not far from our accommodation. The menu is limited but offers wonderful food. The owner is a great character, so friendly and attentive, food is cooked fresh and the service was excellent. A summer evening would be fantastic as the outside space is wonderful. Heartily reccomend.

We booked a table for 1pm on Saturday. We were greeted on arrival and shown to a table by the window with a glorious view towards the River Orwell and the bridge. There was a slight pause before our drinks order was taken. We chose as our mains - Double Smash burger and Korean BBQ Rib of Beef. The kitchen was obviously busy, but our food came reasonably quickly - it was nicely presented and we enjoyed it. Desserts followed - Choc Pop Pannacotta and Pistachio Blackberry tart - all nicely served. Both mains and dessert menus have some interesting dishes - not just the “run of the mill” food choices. An enjoyable meal in pleasant surroundings.
