Went with my husband for a quite drink when the owner turned up caused a scene with the landlord & landlady he then called the police accusing them of things they hadn’t done baring in mind there were two witnesses in the pub us , the owners sisters then came in saying she has called a gang to come up to sort them Out bad move in front of paying customers , the police then turn up in riot gear who nearly tasered my husband On false lies the owner told them , nobody should buy the lease on this pub from the owner as the village will boycott the pub while he owns it keep away from this pub at all costs The owner has ruined a village pub since he has taken over just over a year there has been 4 couples trying their hardest to run this pub it is a white elephant

We were a big party of 16. We booked our food in advance to speed up the process and this worked beautifully. The communication prior to our visit was fantastic. There were lots of comments from our group about how friendly and welcoming the staff were once we arrived. Every dish was hearty and received lots of compliments. The pub also offered to make the mushroom stroganoff as vegan dish.

After a spur of the moment decision to go out for dinner, we went to the White Hart in Puckeridge, but unfortunately it was so busy we couldn’t find our way to the bar. We then went to the Golden Fleece in Braughing. Greeted by the landlord on arrival but we still waited about 10 minutes before we received our drinks. After placing our order at the bar we waited at least an hour before it arrived. Sadly we were very disappointed with our meals, our order of muscles and chips was ok, BUT the bread for mopping up the tomato sauce was very thinly sliced and stale. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our meal and won’t be venturing to this pub again.

On the plus side, the Sunflower Tearoom was very clean and comfortable. The welcome and service were good and the speed of service and taste of the fare was also good, but the cost is steep. A bowl of soup is £6.50. Our bill for two toasties, two soups, one cake and two small pots of fruit tea was £30. In my opinion that was expensive for what we received as for £15 each, we could have had a full lunch at one of the many pubs we pass.

Had a great Saturday lunch at just £9.99 for two courses and the food was absolutely delicious. The place is charming and quaint and the young man serving was friendly and welcoming whilst being knowledgeable about the food and drink menu.
