A proper traditional pub. Real ales and an open fire. Good welcome from the landlady.

Visited as a family of 4 on a Saturday evening. The pub is charming with great country decor, comfy seating on the bar side and there’s also a restaurant side for more smart meals. Gluten free options if you need them are excellent and not just an after thought. We had the steak as well as lamb dishes and kids meals. The kids meals are much cheaper than other local places (brewery tap is double) and yet hearty and well prepared. The steak was top drawer and easily comparable to some of the top city restaurants. Lamb was delicious. Deserts were delicious with proper ice cream which isn’t just the usual tub stuff. We’ve been for over 15 years and despite a few changes of owners, always a pleasure 👍 .

They only serve cheese and meat platters, and Scotch Eggs/Pork Pie, so the food choice is limited. But the cheese choice itself is very good.

Village location, parking at rear with some street parking. We in a group of 25 and had pre-ordered. Seating was ok, split tables but to be expected. Food served hot, quickly and tasty with courses following on. All names called out by servers and correct courses served in friendly and capable manner. No pressure to leave so was a very welcoming and relaxed afternoon.
