Zumhof Biergarten in Birmingham

I went on a planned visit to the Zumhof for live music and I found it to be a spacious medium sized venue located in a popular club area of Digbeth. Friendly staff and quick bar service. I didn't go for food so cannot give any advice on that subject.

Brat night was just shit pop night, they must’ve brought the gcse music tech students to do mixing for the night. Not worth it

Came here for a brat night. Where was brat. DJ barely played it and on top of that had horrible mixing. Had to hold up multiple signs begging them to play BRAT. Don’t do a BRAT night and play no BRAT. Beyond devastated, Charli would be fuming and most importantly what a horror of a night. The toilets also no joke are disgusting and flooded with I don’t know what. Beyond horrible. please please fix this…

absolutely appalling treatment from the staff. Bar tenders were fine but the security guards and bouncers were SO rude! the venue closed at 3am, my friends and i went up to say goodbye to the DJ’s on stage as we had made friends with them during the night & been INVITED on stage, we were shouted at and stopped by the security guard (there was no need to yell as the music was turned off by this point) who told us we weren’t allowed on stage. Not one sign in the venue saying you shouldn’t be on the stage & we had been up there for at least an hour before closing with no issue. At 3:02 we went to get our coats, almost being stopped by another bouncer telling us we weren’t allowed up stairs. After finally getting our coats, at 3:05 we went to the toilets as we had a long journey home, we were followed into these toilets by this bouncer who stood with the door wide open yelling “can we get a move on ladies”, “girls out now please this shouldn’t be taking you long” & walked up to the cubicle i was in while holding the door shut with my foot as it was broken and tried to open the door. so rude and invasive, the venue closed approximately 7 minutes ago at this point, i’m not sure what they’re expecting of people but i was just so disappointed with the treatment we received. will not be returning.

This was a UKG event that took place on 28/09/2024. We were celebrating a double 40th Birthday celebration. When we first arrived around 18:00, we noticed there were 2 entrances with no clear instructions as to what each door was for. We decided to go through the second door and downstairs into a bar area where we seen people buying drinks. We was then advised that this was the waiting area whilst the event was being set up. The service at the bar was slow and when asked about the food that was being provided (stated on the booking site) the bar member simply responded "we don't serve food anymore". Once our drinks were served, a man who was dressed formal approached us and informed us that we were able to make our way into the club. Again, as there were no clear instructions, we assumed we would enter the club through the room we was in as we were already inside. We then found out that we had to exit back out of the building to re-enter through the first door. At this point, we were left confused so one of us approached a man who was dressed formal and expressed that we had been there since 6 with no clear instructions and it was a bit unfair that we now had to leave the building to queue up to re-enter considering we were some of the first to arrive. His response was "unfortunately, that's just the process and everyone has to do it". My friend who was trying to make sense of the situation then asked "why was we not informed about this before or at least told at the beginning?" His reply was "that's just how it is, everyone has to go outside now because the doors open at 6:30, there's nothing I can do about it unfortunately". There was no empathy or any problem solving skills shown by the man at all. Once we were making our way outside to queue up, the man made a comment and said "go on, get some fresh air" where another one of us responded "thats not funny" with a frustrated look on her face. He then turned to her and said "keep looking at me like that and you won't get in". This is totally unprofessional and massive lack of basic customer service. No knowledge (clear lack of communication), empathy or respect was shown to us that evening. It's a massive shame that this was our first experience of Zumhof Biergarten and because of this experience, we will not attend Zumhof again as the service was shocking!!!

Ordered Jack Daniel’s and the bottle was empty, the bartender tried charging me the dribble left in the bottle. Then ordered Malibu and coke and he didn’t pour the right amount for a double whilst he ended up spilling the drink everywhere. Later I ordered a bottle of beer and he didn’t have a bottle opener even though he works at a bar? Prices were ridiculous and the service was god awful.

The bathroom is awful. There was a huge mountain in the middle which gets water all over the floor ,so many people including me nearly slipping, the toilet itself had no tissue. It's just a mess. I had fun though.

I was here for a live evening show and having not eaten beforehand from looking at all the photos and reviews, this was the place to go if you're hungry. Upon my arrival inside, I asked where I could get food and to my astonishment and disappointment, I was told they were not serving ANY food!!! I then had to make sure I could walk out and was allowed to go back in the venue as I had to find a kebab shop over the road! The venue itself was a good place, the gig was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful despite being very misled with the hope for a large variety and delicious food. The Old Crown just down the road serves food.

The nastiest girl just met us at the queue saying she worked there, she ordered us out of the way and demanded that we stand on the side of the road so that she could pass, please consider who u hire

Bought a ticket to watch the football with a free drink token, we were not given this on the door as we were apparently meant to and when we asked at the bar to get this a member of staff who appeared to be a manager claimed he had gave us one and was quite rude meaning we never got the drinks. Other bar staff were nice. Football screen was bad quality. Did not have food. Good atmosphere.

Shocking place would not attend. We were here for the England Switzerland game. They were playing the match on iPlayer which was slower than my gran who is 90 odd. The connection on my phone was quicker. When I asked the barmaid if it would be like this for match she was unsure. We paid for tickets prior to the booking which stated there was a dj playing football songs etc which we can confirm there was not. Poooor

No food available and hardly any space available outside. Two parties had rented out the space so was a bit squashed, no picnic tables like in the images I saw online. Also was expecting an extensive range of beers as promised in the description of the venue. Hells lager, red stripe seemed about it. Stiegl umbrella outside and Erdinger branded staff uniform was a bit of a tease as they weren't available today. Settled for prosecco which tbf I was happy with. I'd revisit when it had the full venue open and was serving food and full drink menu as it seems like it could be a really good venue.

Didn't have food. Went for a bingo night. Music played the whole time so we missed some numbers and they did not put them up for me who is deaf. Prices were not good enough to worry about but it was a good night if you like garage. Bar staff were quick and toilets clean.

Hired the upstairs bar for my birthday and the place was amazing. With lighting & food on point, they allowed us to bring our own DJ and have party favours. Great service overall and highly recommended. Thanks Carly for all the help with prep as well as being great at keeping us upto date.

Great bar with excellent draught, music and cocktails.

Shame. Used to be good but 1) the drinks selection has gone way downhill 2) only 2 pop up food outlets 3) apparently too cheap to buy toilet seats for the.gents

Great place for a night out however the floors can get incredibly slippy.

Fantastic place,Popped in before attending a concert, Staff were very friendly, Only had fries but were yummy, The atmosphere was relaxed, Querkie decor 👌

We hired the whole downstairs and outdoor area for a private University Summer Party and what a great time it was! From start to finish Carly and her team were so helpful, easy to work with and made the whole experience super fun for us. They provided food, drink, full sound desk and lighting for our event which elevated it so much. We will definitely work with them for future events! Special shout-out as well to the two security guards, Harry and Mars, who made the night run as smoothly as possible, and helped wherever they could.

Fantastic beer to choose from large indoor and outdoor spaces with music inside and out

Good music in the outdoor area and good selection of beers. The bar staff are slow and not friendly, the tables were dirty and sticky, and the food menu app didn’t work so couldn’t order food. We only stayed for one drink and left.

Visiting on a Saturday night. Love the atmosphere. Great drinks selection if you like your cocktails and craft beers/ales. Also had food here too. Had a fantastic combo from Chatty Patty and my partner had a great looking burger & potato smileys from Burger-Me Up. My kind of place 😁

Good live music and very helpful staff

We had my daughters baby shower yesterday, great event made even better by Carly and the other staff working. Great facilities, private bar and restroom and convenient parking. Booking process was easy and was able to view the room a few months in advance. Will definitely be our go to venue hire for future events. Thank you!

I have been to Zumhof three times now and I just loved it. Once we only had drinks - very good cocktails and decetly priced - but last time we also had burgers and they were very good too. The staff werev very nice, ahe music was really cool, we had a great time! I recommend it 100%

Security was rude and the bar staff and drink prices was different all night long would avoid like the plague

Quiz night at zumhof was a lot of fun tonight, many laughs and very interactive. Drinks served by Brad and Kirsy. Amazing night out by all the team.

What a party! Carly and her team were fantastic and helped us organise everything down to the smallest detail The venue is great and the food was on point Even with the challenges of a last minute act change she was able to source a stand in for the night, great work! If you're looking for a great party venue with experienced event organisers then look no further Zumhof is the place We'll definitely be going back!!

We have twice now used their bespoke private room The Junkyard to host our events and could not be happier with the results. The equipment package is the top of the line a venue can offer but what genuinely makes the place so special is the management team Carly and Josh. Not only are they extremely supportive of any event that you are looking to put on but they are both extremely knowledgeable and go beyond their duties to ensure you achieve the maximum for your business. We will most certainly be using them for the foreseeable future and cannot recommend them highly enough.

We visited last night for our work Christmas function. The people managing the socials were really helpful with the booking and accommodating when I needed to alter this. Ethan behind the bar was particularly friendly very quick with our drinks. The two for one cocktails on a Friday are lovely and there’s great variety. The live band was wonderful and really made the night special. All in all, we had a wonderful time and can’t wait to visit again!

It was late afternoon when one visited, But happy with the food and drinks and the staff were Pleasant.

We had our works Christmas party at Zumhof and couldn’t of asked for a better venue! Carly was amazing throughout the whole process, constant communication and overall really nice person. On the night the food was great, staff really nice and Carly was on hand for anything we needed. Would definitely recommend the venue. Thanks so much!

Decent venue. We visited on a Saturday afternoon / evening and there was ample space inside and parking was plentiful. Sat outside with a couple of friends enjoying the Autumn atmosphere. Nice place.

Great venue, excellent staff could not help us out enough. Special mention to Carly for bending over backwards to accommodate us. Will be back soon.

Not really sure why this place is called a bierkeller. More German beers at nq64 or most other pubs, sat on a wooden table, queued at the bar for eternity and the music they had on was terrible house music then an English band playing Rihanna's music. Wetherspoons is more German.

Don't go to the toilets if you value your life

Vikk was an excellent bartender he was very helpful and was recommending drinks which is very nice and how also recommend food which was tasty

Great night out definitely go again

We’ve taken on the full venue for a private hire on two occasions this year and the support, service and knowledge we’ve received has been outstanding. In particular Carly Sharman, the event manager at the venue has gone above an beyond for us. We have hosted our events in all rooms throughout the venue and Carly has helped us project manage every element of the event, from marketing, set up of the event, operations, technical set ups, decor and production managment as well as overseeing the staffing, and saftey of our event. Over the two dates we’ve had over 1600 people attend and we’ve had glowing customer reviews, this wouldn’t have been possible without the support we’ve been given. Going above and beyond, Carly has made valuable introductions to local suppliers and businesses in the area which we’ve worked alongside at the venue, her local knowledge and support for the local business community has proved to be valuable to us, for example when we’ve needed additional tech requirements that are outside of the standard venue specification. Events can often be high pressures environments yet Carly has always remained cool and supportive under pressure. We’re booked in already for future dates and we hope to continue working together for many more to come. Massive thanks again, From Mike, Saoirse, Dan, James and all the team at Raver Tots.

I’ve been to zumhof a number of times and it’s always been a good visit. This time I went for Raver Tots which was amazing. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, the venue looked amazing all decorated and it was just a fun evening. My son had the best time and we would definitely return there for Raver Tots.

Hosted my event there 8th October & couldn’t have been anymore helpful events manger Carly was very supportive & made sure the night ran smoothly all the staff was great many future events planned great venue.

As air will always have a place in my heart love the fact that can come here have food and have a night out, great vibes

Some of the tastiest veggie food I’ve ever eaten. The Ragin’ Cajun burger is mouthwatering, the Moving Mountains Dog that my fiancé got was equally delicious and the deep fried Oreo’s were out of this world. Coupled with reasonable prices, a beautiful venue and some of the friendliest staff I’ve ever had the pleasure of being served by, it’s fair to say that Zum Hof is a true gem of Digbeth’s dining scene

I attended a underground house music event called OTO at the junkyard zumhof and I must say the atmosphere was brilliant the DJs absolutely smashed it they were fantastic the music had me dancing non stop. The staff were great very friendly I will definitely be back and would 100percent recommend this venue.

Food and drinks are fine, but man, as someone who's worked in customer service for 16+ years, quite possibly some of the most incompetent staff I've ever come across. First, bar staff managed to charge for and pour us 4 lemonades as part of our order, when we ordered 1. Then argued the point, when we corrected them. Getting a refund took asking twice, where we were passed over to the supervisor with the card machine to process.... when we paid cash. When our food order arrived, we were missing an item, to which the waitress just said "it's not on the order I have here". Which it was, as we had the order receipt. An hour later, they still hadn't arrived, so we chased it, after which they did finally show up... and were given to the wrong table. Keeping in mind tables are numbered. One mistake can be forgiven, but this was repeat and across the board incompetence.

I visited with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday at the weekend and I must say… WOW we had the best day! The atmosphere, cocktails and vibe in general was amazing. The staff was lovely, the best part for me was the burger...

Cocktails are great and there’s plenty of seating both in and outside. When we went it was happy hour/2-4-1 but it wasn’t advertised/clear, so they could do with making that more obvious. We both went for the Chatty Patty £10 Chatter Box: 3 buttermilk chicken strips, seasoned skin on fries, jerk gravy & house slaw. The chicken strips were really juicy and the coating was the perfect texture. It kinda reminded us of Tex’s Original coating 💭 IYKYK 🤤 The gravy wasn’t as ‘jerky’ as we’d have liked, but it was delicious nonetheless. Rich and deep in flavour, it brought everything together. We also shared some deep fried Oreos with caramel sauce. They came in a crispy batter with the sauce drizzled all over and were a sweet tooth’s dream! Warm and conforming. A salted caramel would be nice too to cut through some of the sweetness. We want to try some burgers and wings next time so we can do a proper menu review. There will be a next time for sure 👏🏽

We chose this location for a works night out, booked a table for 11 for both food and drinks. The ordering systems that they have in place are awful and do not work so after attempting to order everything through their app it then refuses...

A perfect spot to enjoy a beer with friends. Whether you are looking for a sip in the sunshine or a boogie on the dance floor, this place has the best of both worlds.

Excellent food but took 45min to arrive after I asked twice..

Lovely place to gather with friends. It's clean and well maintained. The staff are excellent and strive to provide a fast and efficient service to customers. I've only eaten here once, their menu is a shared one with 4 on site venders of different styles of food. My friends had a burrito and I had vegan tacos, absolutely delicious, fast service, wonderful options, excellent value for money. There's a plethora of alcoholic drink choices and the guys host a 2-1 on cocktails as specified times in the week. The building itself is huge, a massive indoor area with loads of seats (indoor is often hosting a quiz night or something interactive) and a large bar runs the length of the left hand side. Outside has sheltered seating along the our side of the building, an outdoor DJ booth and more seating in a tipi (with a fire pit that may or may not be lit). Toilets are really well maintained, spacious and clean. Portable phone/ gadget charging packs available for hire at the bar. Parking literally outside, low charge for a good Amit of time or free street parking scattered around, although limited on busy nights.

I love this place! The food is great, staff are really nice and the live music nights on Fridays and Saturdays are brilliant! Highly recommended if you are after a really fun evening of food, drinks, a singalong and a dance!

Great interiors, cheap parking, great service and lovely staff (thanks Jenny, Kirsty, Brad, Emily and Gabbie). Velveteen burger was tasty and served quickly (thanks Jenny) Frappétíní made by Kirsty was lovey and came out fast too. 100% would come back again.

My friend purchased 2 cocktails from the bar which cost her £18. We both understand that in cocktails there are specific measures that must be used but she was disappointed when her drink was made and (despite an abundance of ice) the glass wasn’t full....

It was ok but not really much to write home about

The bar was an absolute joke. Took forever to get a round of drinks on a Saturday night. The bar staff need to get trained desperately. The outside seating area was dreadful and the fire pit under the tent left your clothes stinking of smoke. Definitely would not return until things improved massively.

Go somewhere else. Staff are inexperienced, zero charisma. Go somewhere else, so more many nice places in Birmingham. For a student bar I guess this is where you should go if you want to waste your money. Hire more staff and train them.

Staff were unhelpful. Please don’t order a dark and stormy, they don’t bother putting one of the main ingredients (ginger beer) in it. We paid £6 for a watered down rum. When we complained to the bar staff he said there was nothing he could...

Good food good company and friendly atmosphere

We had two tables booked and were happily enjoying drink & food. During booking process I didn’t see anything about getting kicked off the table at any time, which I’m still unsure if there is anything? Anyway…. A waitress called Emily had a serious attitude...

I want to get a pint when I finish one, not have to wait half an hour at a time, do you want me to get back in the queue as soon as I've ordered?

Carly & team looked after us before, during and after our evening at Zumhof BG. There was a huge buzz from the team after a lovely evening so thanks a lot! Highly recommend.

Atmosphere was great. Would recommend if you're going for drinks only... Food was very disappointing. Advertised as "bottomless wings £15 - 90mins" Timer starts when they take your order, you get 6 wings at a time and you can't order your next batch untill you finish your 6. The wait time between ordering your next batch of wings and getting to your table is around 20minutes. This resulted in only getting to have 3 rounds of wings in the time limit...
