The Deli in Birmingham

Highly recommend for a cup of coffee, something to eat, grabbing a drink or all of the above! I had the most beautiful and delicious latte ever. Ate breakfast and lunch there. Incredibly tasty and huge portions. The atmosphere is spectacular both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is unbelievably friendly and nice. We loved the place so much we went back for pizza and drinks. Definitely recommend!

The Deli Social is a perfect spot. Great location with indoor and outdoor seating and a cozy atmosphere. Service and staff were excellent and so friendly. The breakfast was amazing. Came back for a pizza that night and that was also top notch. Highly recommend!

Went to the Deli last night for the first time around 7:30/8. There were around 8-10 customers inside. Went to the bar to order and was told that they were not taking orders as they were closing. We went to another bar and walked past the deli at around 9:30 and saw that they were fully open with lots of customers inside. Not too sure why they said that

This is a great place. We dropped in for an early Sunday breakfast outside, at the back, it was really spacious and dogs are allowed. Bit pricey but definetly get what you pay for, quality ingredients like latchford sausages, will go back.

Booked table for evening meal. When we arrived we were told they had run out of food. Appreciate they were very busy but a text or a call would have been nice.

Very good. Somewhere different to go but not quite a Deli as such. Good location on the high st. Parking is an hour on the road. I did think I could order eggs Benidict, wasn't happening. No selectinon of cold meats, cheese or pies.

Great food, terrible service. The food in here is lovely- the fresh bread and pastries in particular. But our experience is always let down by the staff. Frankly, they look like they just don't want to be there. They all seem miserable and it feels like as a customer, you're just a burden. At first we thought it was perhaps them having a bad day, but we're been a few times now and they're like this every time. They've been on phones whilst serving customers, haven't helped with pushchairs through doors and genuinely have never seen a smile. It means the atmosphere is just drab and as though you're getting in their way. You'd expect just a basic level of politeness and service, but not here. Will consider whether it's worth going at all in future.

Excellent. Great service. Lovely community feeling and one of the best breakfasts my friend and I have experienced. I’m vegan and chose the smashed avocado on toast. Came away a very happy vegan. Very generous portion. My friend had the small cooked breakfast and was again pleased with portion size and taste of all on the plate. We will return

It is a dirty filthy hole. I went for breakfast with my family the tables were filthy, the knives and forks were filthy egg stains still on them. It took three attempts to get our drinks after waiting half an hour. The food order was incorrect, the backyard where we sat hadn’t been cleaned for weeks. Even the passageway was filthy. To be fair breakfast was half decent and the staff were friendly. Our breakfast came and we asked for them to replace the knife and forks. I also needed some condiments first they brought the salt and then went away and brought the sugar and went away again and brought back with the butter and then came back with the knife and forks, all this time my breakfast was going cold. I would hate to see behind-the-scenes. It must be absolutely filthy, based on front of House.

Fantastic brunch! The food here is top notch and the staff are always friendly and really helpful. It gets busy but that makes for a lovely atmosphere. We had avocado toast with (gorgeous) poached eggs and bacon on sourdough, and some of the family had full breakfasts. Everything was delicious and very good value for what we paid. I think they make the bread and pastries and cakes on site, everything looked yummy 😋

I really like this place. Don't come to Boldmere that often so not sure how long it's been here. Coffee is very good and food great too. Like shabby chic atmos and selection of local and craft beers for sale. Just what Boldmere High Street needed I would suggest.

The most amazing staff, atmosphere, food and drinks. Cocktails by Matthew are the best but in general always good but his that teeny tiny bit more. Only downside is their not open more hours in the evening. Everyone is so friendly staff and customers always the nicest vibe and atmosphere.

Went for breakfast at the Deli on a Sunday. The staff are really friendly, we had avocado and poached egg toast (beautiful poached eggs and sour dough toast), full breakfasts and breakfast sandwiches and we were all really happy with the food. The staff welcome everyone that comes in like a close friend - even if it's your first visit - which makes for a warm and cosy experience.

Love the Deli, food, people owners. Nothing more to say really. The best in Boldmere.

Consistently great food and really good coffee

Popped in for a Sunday brunch and were quickly seated. Staff friendly. Ordered quickly and didn’t have to wait too long. Food was very good (Sausage sandwich and Poached Eggs) and good value. Downside is that it just looks a little tired and could do with a clean. The guy in the baseball cap (not sure if he’s the owner or not) was also dressed in what looked like his painting jumper and just didn’t give a good, clean impression. Worth a visit but could be so much nicer.

This is a family owned independent with character. Always busy as a neighbourhood cafe by day and a bar serving bar/deli food at night. Back garden is a nice place to sit out and have a beer and some food.

Have always loved coming here for breakfast/brunch. The food and staff are always wonderful. We booked our baby gender reveal party and had a private area out in the courtyard and I could not have asked for a better evening. The vibe was perfect, string lights, music, the drinks were flowing (241 cocktails went down well with those drinking!) and the buffet they put on for us was unreal!!! Staff are always super helpful and friendly.5 star service and vibes 👍🏼

Seating available inside and out the front and back of the Deli. It isn't the cheapest of places to eat but the quality and portion size of the food makes up for the prices and always well cooked I have eaten here day and night and always found the staff to be welcoming. You can also purchase fresh bread to take away. Very pleasant place to visit for food and hot drinks or even if you fancy a beer .

Excellent coffee with soya milk option and vegan option foods. Excellent brunch, cooked to perfection. Another great brunch today, the food never fails to impress.

Visited for lunch around 1:30pm. I was initially really excited to visit however it wasn’t what it lived up to be. The pricing strategy is absolutely ridiculous. £4.75 a sandwich if you take away or £7.25 if you sit in??? How does that work? When I walked in, tables outside were all dirty or only partially clean. Staff didn’t really seem that interested. I ordered a full breakfast and asked for a well done egg which came runny, I asked to swap mushrooms for a hash brown which never happened. Staff didn’t check back with us to see how our food was even once. The food was very average overall, below the standard I expected. I’ve given 2 stars as the coffee was okay and food was served within about 15 minutes but the place was empty.

Divine Millenium sandwiches as a takeaway, not forgetting the lovely fresh flavoured blueberry and lime cake! Friendly and helpful to staff thrown in too! What's not to like? Absolutely nothing. Love it!

Deli is great! It's just such a real shame they are open so infrequently. It would be great for example to be open on a Thursday evening. I know times are tough and totally empathise If the opening hours were extended then would definitely up the stars!! <3

This place is simply amazing, the staff make you feel like family and the place is relaxed with excellent food and drinks. The evolving menu is always elite and they can russel you up anything from the bar. Highly recommend the food, both the breakfast and the dinner dish but it’s ace to just go and have a bev. Give it a go and you will be back.

The deli is honestly the best place I have been to in Birmingham. Staff are great, food is delicious and the drinks are well priced and great. If you want a beautiful coffee or an ice cold beer they’re done to perfection. I love coming back to this place and my first time in I felt like a local. Would recommend the Deli 100%

Great place love coming here bought my mum for a quick lunch and didn’t disappoint. It was busy as it was their first day back this year but that was no problem.They had Gluten free bread which is fab for me as am gf. Food was hot coffee was 👍 Thanks guys and wishing you a happy and healthy 2023! 💜

Brilliant social spot in the heart of boldmere

Food always great. Been to a few themed meals and sat in the garden over the summer. Only gripe would be the fact the toilet outdoors really does need a good clean so I try and avoid using it until I’ve eaten as it’s off putting.

Great Place, The staff are really friendly, foods excellent, service top notch. Would highly recommend. Don’t go anywhere else in Boldmere.

Excellent quality breakfast and good service

I feel this place is slowly declining in food quality but mainly a huge decline in service. Service took over 1 hour even though we were the second lot of people to arrive on Sunday. I understand larger tables need to be served before us e.g. the table of 10 this Sunday, the table of 4 etc. Please note they did not order before us but both arrived after and ordered after. I think that when going here you should consider the length of time it takes food to arrive. The coffee and tea arrived very promptly, in future or if I had known I would have asked for them to be with food - as obviously they were drunk before the arrival of food. Tables need to be cleaned or cleaned better. Bunting needs to be secured higher before someone trips/bumps. Crockery is nice and the plants are nice.

Food is good although grilled chicken rather dry and bland but hygiene is awful. I visit regularly and the tables in the front area are always uncleared and dirty. You have to ask for your table to be cleaned and even then staff don’t actually bother to clear everything or wipe the table. Last time I visited it was exactly the same plus them also disinterested bother to take away a single empty plate when we’d finished our food. Shame

My friend and I both had lovely lunches at The Deli today and there was great, friendly service too. There was a clearly given message about the wait for food (45 mins), before we ordered. This was fine as we had our drinks and sat in the sunshine in the lovely outdoor seating area. I had a halloumi, sweet potato, hummus and felafel salad and a my friend had a Greek salad on flat bread. Very fresh and tasty. Recommended.

Hired the garden for my birthday. Looked after us really well, and the food was great. Thank you!

Had a Latte and Frenchie sandwich - brie, bacon, onion jam - really great and pleasant pavement seating on Boldmere Rd High St. UPDATE Many, many wonderful visits since then.

Often visit and have no complaints but today felt like I had gone for a coffee at a boarding kennel. I was sat outside and at one stage there were 4 dogs outside barking. What makes it worse is that the owners make no effort to calm or control them. Mentioned it to the staff who just looked, smiled and said nothing. At one stage a dog owner laughed when my friend jumped as the dog suddenly barked behind her. She is scared of digs yet we were surrounded by them. Not impressed

Perfect breakfast, lovely cakes, the best coffee anywhere. All served by great staff, helpful, friendly, efficient.

Having visited other establishments on the main road, who were all about the money it was a refreshing change to spot a small boutique like shop that showed the football, but with a family type atmosphere.

Ok bit crowded and although staff friendly not really that comfortable or special enough to choose over other outlets locally.

I usually " pop in " on a Thursday morning for toast and coffee. I love burnt toast and they are happy to oblige!1

Would not revisit, slow service with no apology for a 45 minute wait. Raw food and again, little apology. Really disappointed with everything and would not return.

Great staff, fantastic tasty food and coffee to die for..... Only downside was when i looked towards the counter from our table was a greasy extension lead taped to the floor and the lights above the counter were gathering dust a bit.

The deli recently supplied an outstanding buffet for our church event, we had over 200 people attend and food was abundant and of a very high quality with plenty selection. Would definately recommend and will certainly be using again.

First visit with my family and grandkids on Sunday for breakfast such a great place to eat reminded me of our trips to Australia with Avocado and soda bread with the best poached eggs ever ! kids loved sausage sandwich !!!

I’ve just visited the lovely Deli social , my wife and I had an amazing treat .

Had friends come so invited the family for breakfast there so they could all see them. Arrived at 10.30 Sunday, we ordered all our breakfasts and drinks. All went to take our coats off then felt how cold it was there. Looked around and realised everyone had their coats on while eating. They only had one oil heater in there no other form of heating. Everyone was saying how cold it was there how can you relax enjoy a meal when your cold. There was a sign stating local sourced products when I asked was the meat from local butchers as both are very good. I was informed local Costco. Not supporting local shops that’s not good either.

We often visit and every time we have excellent food and tea/coffee. Good atmosphere with staff eager to accommodate every taste. Excellent breakfasts, soup, quiches and most cakes made on the premises, the best coffee in Boldmere, exciting Friday evening activities with amazing atmosphere.

Called here for a bite to eat late morning so ordered the breakfast which took about 20. Inutes to prepare which was fine but when it came was disappointed with the quantity for the price. More upsetting than that when I visited the toilets they were from the 1920's and more importantly the toilet door is located right next to the food preparation area. When I passed by a pan with bacon was on the end and I felt poorly knowing I had just eaten some. Didn't feel hygienic at all. Floors were full of debris and paint job looks like a five year old has done it. Sorry when I read the reviews I must be a grumpy old f t because I didn't like it at all. Not cheap eats as breakfast was almost £6 and tables not cleared quickly.

This lovely local eatery gives you great food, ambience and value for money. Without a doubt the food is fantastic, generous and delicious. The staff are efficient and friendly, bringing a light but personal touch to your visit.

We have visited for breakfast a few times now and it's been on point every time. My girlfriend is gluten free and they can always accommodate this. Highly recommend visiting if you are in Boldmere.

Ordered a bacon sandwich on white bread to take out. Got back to the job and they had done it on brown granary bread which I'm not too keen on. Other than that the guy who served me was pleasant and polite just a shame my sandwich was wrong.

I come here every weekend for my breakfast it's the best one around! Staff are really friendly, highly recommend the lunch menu is great too.

Popped in on a Saturday afternoon for a late breakfast, we both had sausage and bacon sandwiches and they were amazing!!! So delicious. The hot chocolate I had was fabulous too. The service was great, special mention to Matt ed and em!!!

I'm from Essex but visit friends in from uni who live in the area, I always end up coming here at least once on a weekend, couldn't speak highly enough of it, the breakfast hits the spot every time and as an avid coffee drinker they can't put a foot wrong! Keep it up

We had a lovely night out in a friendly atmosphere. It was so relaxing but was still lively and entertaining. It is a Deli by day but is a great Friday night out too.

My husband and I visit the Deli Social in Boldmere whenever we can. Pip and her team serve the best breakfast for miles around. Freshly cooked with local ingredients. And the coffee, well if you like freshly ground coffee expertly presented, then this is the place for you.The Deli's talents don't stop at breakfast, as well as delicious reasonably priced lunches, there are Tapas evenings on Friday nights and other events through the year. Finally, the Deli had its own atmosphere. Warm and friendly with a feeling that you might be somewhere else, with its unique laid back ambience.

Fabulously delicious food - exceptionally friendly staff - feels like one big happy family! Feel good feeling- we love it!

We were just passing by the deli looking for some breakfast and decided to pop in. We are really glad we did. The service was amazing, nothing was too much trouble even though they were busy. I loved how my tea was in an old fashioned China cup and the food was amazing.

Lovely Staff, beautiful cakes and coffee, i always love the way this venue get involved in all of the local events and support its community.

Great place to meet friends for breakfast or lunch or even to have a sneaky piece of cake and coffee on my own. I quite often stop by on my way back from walking the dog in the park and staff bring him doggy treats with my order.

Have often popped in here for a cup of tea..sandwich &amp; cake.Always had good food &amp; service &amp; lovely homemade cakes.Decided to purchase an afternoon tea for 4 off Groupon offer...went today with friends.Always nice service from pleasant young staff.The offer said chocolate brownies..Victoria cream sponge..lemon drizzle cake &amp; scones &amp; clotted cream..also included a glass of prosecco.I checked with the young man at the counter that the selection of cakes &amp; brownie were included...he assured me they were..l had organised this treat &amp; wanted to ensure all would go well.Tea &amp; sandwiches were delicious nice bread..fresh fillings.Nice glass of prosecco taken by three of our group was good.However..when the cakes arrived...small pieces of delicious brownies..some tiny squares..a mouthful..of a sort of flapjack...the cake was served on a tiered plate...and was very disappointing to say the least...being one small vanilla muffin..cut into 4 ...and a small chocolate muffin cut into 4!As we knew how nice their cake usually is...&amp; ..because l had specifically asked to check that the afternoon tea was indeed as described on the groupon voucher...the cakes were also on display on the counter...this was EXTREMELY disappointing !The muffins were dry &amp; l could not see them on general display.....which led me to think they were bought in just to give to us "groupon customers".I spoke to the young man on the counter..&amp; expressed my concerns..asked if we could have some of the cake on display...l also asked if l would have to pay for this..after checking with another lady he said no...then bought us a small slice of the chocolate Guinness cake...which was on display..&amp; was very light &amp; tasty.We did not get any lemon drizzle or Victoria sponge.When l had said the muffins were not what l had expected...he had said..well it depends what's available.I found this to be an unacceptable reply...as what was "available" was clearly on display....with non of the cheap looking..? ...shop bought muffins on display.Whilst we were eating..a couple arrived &amp; were als served an afternoon tea...however one of my friends commented perhaps it was because we were Groupon voucher customers..but this couple were served a slice of lemon drizzle..Guinness chocolate cake &amp; iced carrot &amp; orange cake...also chocolate brownie...all of which looked mouth-wateringly delicious ...&amp; the usual cream scones.Of course we did not expect huge slices of cake.But it would have been nice to have been afforded the same lovely choice as this couple had.Needless to say my friend tried a mouthful of the"muffin" and the rest were left untouched..they were unappetising .This did leave us thinking we were treated to 2inferior tiny quartered muffins..between the 4 of us as we were..."Groupon" customers.So beware if you are purchasing a groupon deal from this Deli.

Had a fabulous afternoon tea with Prosecco for 4. It was delicous and excellent value for money. Lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes, topped up with endless cups of tea. Very good value for money. The teashop is a little small and dated but it's clean and well used so consider reserving a table. Loved it and will definately be back for more - Thank you.

Regularly go there for lunch and with such a varied menu, there's so much to enjoy. Superb food using quality ingredients and produce. Very skilled chef. The full English breakfast is award winning and it's not a surprise, it's brilliant. Excellent coffees and drinks selection. Also ideal for casual business meetings. It's the real hub of the community. Lots of regulars and friendly faces.

I`ve really not eaten in here but often buy cheese, bread, ham etc &amp; have to say always found the staff great, and some really nice, different produce, the will also order anything not in stock for you, if possible.A nice addition to the high street.

The Deli is unique in that there is the coffee shop and a separate delicatessen a few doors down. The coffee shop is well worth a visit and serves great food and the deli is a little jewel in Boldmere...I do go out of my way to visit and make purchases that are no good for my diet....They have particularly good cheeses and good artisan breads.

Dreadful service, visited this morning to treat my grown son to a birthday brekfast.Ee ordered and waited 40 mins; I was only then informed there was no croissants left and that it would be a further ten minutes for fried egg on toast? When we suggested the wait was a long one for such a simple order we were informed they were busy.... there were 4 tables in operation? And that it is difficult to cook in a small kitchen.I can only suggest dont offer food then just stick to cakes; which were uncovered and dry looking.It was also very cold and the tabke of 4 ladies next to us were huddled over a plugged in radiator. The whole establishment is amateur and the kitchen looked untidy and smelled of burnt fat.I would not visit again personally and only suggest this place if your really desperate for a cup of tea and have plenty of time to kill.
