Zulaika in Stockport

It was my birthday meal with family, meal an service were fine, staff friendly, a nice evening.

I have ordered take out many times from here and always been happy but today’s takeaway was a disaster. The started were good but the mains were delivered with the wrong meat, chicken curry was sent for one of the meals instead of lamb and the chicken was overcooked and quite hard and tasteless. I don’t think we will be using here again sadly - I didn’t even eat my meal it was that bad it put me off

Thoroughly enjoy their takeaway on a regular basis but thought I would try the restaurant for a change and glad I did the food was wonderful and I couldn't find fault with anything, The staff were very helpful and friendly and will definitely be going again.

I don’t write many reviews but was staying at the holiday inn express for work and the food had been awful so thought I’d try and get a curry delivered, I didn’t do much research as I was starving so it was pretty much the first I found when I searched. Luckily it was really good, relatively quick, arrived hot and tasted amazing. Really good, wound definitely recommend!!!!

Wow wow wow,we called here on Tuesday 12/12/23 for a meal,it was absolutely gorgeous,the meals came in perfect times you didn't feel rushed and you were never mithered for more drinks as a I lot of Indian restaurants do,I always like to take half of mine home for lunch the next day and there plenty to do this,we've had take aways from here and the food is just as good,the guys that work there are so friendly and on the ball,I can highly recommend Zulaika lovely clean restaurant.thanks for a great night.

Good food, prompt service and pleasant surroundings. A bit noisy when it's busy but that is to be expected at weekends. Overall worth a visit.

1:30 mins to wait for arrival. I ordered chicken tikka starter, chicken was cold. Main..king prawn karahi with pilu rice, curry was look warm & hottest spicy Karahi I’ve ever had, should be flavoursome but not over spiced with heat, my mouth is burning. Rice cold! Will not be ordering again. Prawns, thankfully were ok. Bad attitude from driver/delivery person….Reason for delay restaurant was busy! So that’s ok! 😫

1st time visit and after reading on reviews on line. I was quietly pleased. The restaurant was very clean the food arrived promptly hot and not over spiced, but flavoursome. In short you won't be disappointed and l am returning with my family over the Christmas Holiday.

I ordered from here on ‘just eat’ every week. Then the standard dropped. I called them and they said they would get back to me!!! They did not …therefore I could not go back to them and the New Sagor Tandoori a few doors down have my regular custom. WOW! Sometimes these things happen for a reason! Zulaika failed unfortunately for them but it lead me to the New Sagor Tandoori and its price is great and their food is amazing!!

I ordered from here instead of my usual( Pink Garlic) as the reviews were so good and not to mention 20% off. However, whilst delivery was prompt and portions were substantial, the meals were just weird. Veg curry, bright pink/red containing soggy veg and pretty much zero flavour even though it was supposed to be a madras. Chicken Handi, for some reason seemed to contain jar mint sauce, you know the kind you put on lamb? The OH said it was possibly the worst curry he’d ever tasted. And finally the chicken tikka tasted of pretty much nothing except cumin,which considering it’s my least favourite Indian spice,wasn’t great. I was really disappointed considering the reviews, I did contact the restaurant before posting here but I didn’t receive a reply unfortunately. Maybe it was a bad night but there were good reviews from the same night I visited so who knows !

Food was really good and it's a nice place

6 of us visited (4 for the first time) and were met by the friendliest waiter I’ve ever met. We now know him to be called Sal. We had a few drinks then poppadum, starters then mains. Personally I can recommend the Fish Pakora which was lovely but the highlight of the food for me was the South Indian Garlic. I cheekily asked for lamb and chicken and the guys duly obliged. I’ve gotta say it was the nicest curry I’ve ever tasted and I have had a few of these over the years at various restaurants. Everyone loved the food. A guy called Mo then came and introduced himself. He had been out delivering and recognised one of our party who had purchased takeaways in the past. In short the service (friendliest guys ever) the food and the beverages were all superb. A great night out and I will definitely be returning. Mo/Sal 10/10 boys 👏👏 .

We regularly have food delivered from Zulaika and it is always excellent and piping hot. We also eat at the restaurant. The staff are always friendly and helpul.

Visited early evening on a Friday, wasn't busy. Had great service, asked if wanted a break between starter and main. To top it off there is 25% off throughout September.

Had takeaway. Delivered in good time and absolutely delicious.

Had our meal delivered last night, once again missing multiple items. How can you miss items that a customer has paid for? Chips - £2.95 Mango - 80p Mint - 80p Poppadom - 80p They are only small items, but £5.35 waste on nothing. Tried to call the restaurant multiple times but was engaged so I give up. You asked us for a review on the bag, on a order that wasn't complete. Did nobody check it? Disappointed as we have been a regular here for a very long time but you always seem to get it wrong.

A well overdue review for one of the best curry houses in Stockport. The staff are friendly, there’s an extensive menu, the food is quality and well presented. We’ve frequently visited this excellent restaurant and the take outs are equally as good There’s plenty of parking facility on the main road Highly recommended, and you wont be disappointed

This is our go-to restaurant for our home delivery curry. Food is always excellent, hot and delivered on time with a smile. We have just finished our meal which was delivered and it was really good.

Went here for my mates 40th Birthday bash, food was amazing, they were a tad slow to start taking orders but probably waiting to sell more drinks? But that aside the food was amazing! Best Shashlik Ive ever had and the price was fair in comparison to my usual takeaway. I would highly recommend.

Had dinner with family last night Monday 10th July.It was excellent! Zulaika has been opened for years ,visited it a few times in the pass it was ok nothing special. However noticed it has been refurbished so I thought we should give it a try, so glad we did. The food was excellent with a varied menu at reasonable prices.Service excellent.Will definitely be dining here again in the near future.

Ordered a takeaway meal for three this evening. Service was excellent as was the food !! The best Indian food we’ve had in a long time . Highly recommend.

Stuff missing from order yet ok to charge me for them. Curry was bland wnd won't be ordering again. Can't even answer the phone shocking

I used this place many times, the food was good, but I had a few times that the food was cold when it arrived, this is all down to the disgusting delivery times. So I again used it for the first time in like 6 or so months and it was exactly the same again, ordered at 7:05 on their website and I rang them every 20 mins for an update, they just kept saying they are really busy etc kept saying should be with you in the next 10 mins. When it finally arrived it was completely stone cold so I had to throw it in the bin and I had to goto my local chip shop to get some chips instead. This is disgusting I spent and wasted £18 this is totally disgusting service. They need to vastly improve delivery times because this is just NOT good enough. I asked for a full refund, I will chase this up tomorrow and ask to speak to the manager. So again I WILL NEVER EVER order from here again and I would hope that others should avoid it too because these delivery times is what makes the food COLD on arrival. So Sort your disgusting service out please or you will risk losing all your customers fast!

Update: ordered from here tonight, and it was awful and inedible, chicken chewy and hugely over cooked, peshwari naan fell to pieces and useless as a naan bread. Will leave old review here for fairness: Been ordering from here for a while, and have to say the food has improved in the past 12 months to the point that they are now my go to takeaway curry! Murgh Massallam is incredible

Ordered a takeaway for delivery on the Stockport Eats app. Meal delivered on time and was piping hot. Great Onion Bhajis and the best Chicken Rogan Josh I've had in a long while. Reasonably priced and I qualified for a 10% discount for using the app.

Ordered a take away at 7 30pm via Uber Eats and was given a arrival time of 8 15pm . Still waiting at 9 30pm with no update/contact so cancelled order . Had heard good reviews of this place so was looking forward to trying but won’t bother again

Good quality food, reasonably priced, decent portions, nicely refurbed restaurant. Good to have a decent curry house within walking distance of Woodsmoor (on A6). Looking forward to the left-over portions we took home and would definitely go again

After 2 hours and 15 minutes of waiting for my delicious mid week treat to arrive, I was disheartened. As you can imagine, after sitting on the side for what must have been a considerable amount of time, all of the food was luke warm at the absolute best. The chicken was drier than your nan. The naan, a tooth breaking hard shelled husk of the soft delicious bread it was not only an hour ago. The curry was inoffensive but nothing to write home about. The rice, although cold, was rather tasty, I recommend the garlic rice and the garlic rice only. The staff on the phone and the delivery driver were apologetic at least so bonus star for that. If I was you I'd pop in the car and go to Balti kitchen in Macclesfield in all honesty.

I've been going here for some years and had a few Christmas Day meals, but now I'm disabled. The steps/door/entrance is an awkward and tight squeeze even using a stick. It was early with only 2 of us in and I asked for disabled toilets before sitting down. I was told the gents was up the steep stairs, so I asked if I could use the downstairs ladies, the answer was an adamant no. I pointed out there were no ladies in, but was still not allowed - but I had to use it anyway. Later I went upstairs to use the gents, and fell down the last few steps as they're steep. Before I went, I'd checked their online menu as they do a weekly Discounted Dish and Special Offers with 2 FOR 1- Starters & Main course - Mon - Thur - Dine in only - 4.30pm - 6.00pm. We were there before 5.30pm and I said our meals should count in the 2 FOR 1, but they refused. I noted that some online prices were not the same as the eat in prices

Food still not delivered and it’s been an hour 40 mins. Was told they set off with it 40 mins ago. Who wants to eat cold food that’s been sat in a car for 40 mins.

Won’t order again. Ordered on deliveroo and been waiting absolutely ages. Ordered at 6:50pm and it’s now 8:38pm. Not happy. This used to be a good restaurant but the service is now poor. I rang up to complain and they didn’t care.

Love the menu here and the fact they have advice on allergies on there online menu really helpful. As for the food I give it 15/10 love it. You get a good portion of meat in your meal.

Had a great meal for the second time. Nicely decorated and good service. Well worth a visit in the week if you want a quiet meal.

Missed half our order off delivery. Called up and they sent the missing half then, sent new meals out after that realising we would be eating the first lot cold. Thank you.

Used this restaurant before but after a rancid smelling curry put me right off using them again (to be fair was resolved by bringing a fresh one). Decided to give them another chance a year later only to be disappointed again. Birihani was advertised on line as with curry or choice.. it's not. Food was nearly an hour late, warm at most, missing an item and no apology when finally did arrive. It is a no from me thanks.

Have you ever had a bright pink rogan josh?.. well neither have I cos it was 🤢🤮… why the need for the pink I don’t know and hardly any meat. Dnt order from them when their busy. Oh and when I rang to ask why my curry was glowing in the dark he said he guesses that’s the way the chef made it. I said shall I leave a review? His response was yes please. So here it is

Medium size restaurant on the A6 at Great Moor, Stockport, limited parking on the road. Good choice of Indian dishes from the menu including kids menu. Licensed with a bar, moderately priced & good local resource.

Pleasant Indian restaurant on the main road, steps at entrance. Extensive menu with traditional favourites and chef’s specials. Staff helpful, maybe need a little more training such as not asking diners to pass empty dishes, and putting plates on the table rather than passing them into hands of customers. We had to ask for cutlery after starters. Food was good and appeared in reasonable time. I would go back again.

2hour delivery wait! Food cold when arrived even though we are 2mins drive away. Rather be told when I rang, they were busy as would have collected instead of its out for delivery and it take another hour???! Won't be going back

We have a groupon voucher gifted to us. Booked and went. Staff nice, friendly. We were given a laminated A4 menu. It said at the top Groupon menu. Starters were in a paragraph e.g Meat samosa, Sheek kebab, coma's between each item no description. Mains Chicken or lamb tikka, chicken or lamb ****, chicken or lamb passada,..... You get the jist. It was a paragraph of the items with coma's no explanation of what may or may not be in each dish. Sides same layout. The voucher was meal for two, starter ,main and a side with a drink We ordered Samosa starter Sheek kabab starter The sheek kebab starter was fantastic. 2 pints cobras to go with it. We were aware only halves included with the offer... It a problem. Not living in Stockport but 30-40 min away I thought this definitely seems worth the journey at thiswould come again. Mains we order one each I ordered chicken tikka passada with rice and chapati. Other person has main with chips I was.disapointed.with this course the chicken seemed to have been cooked on a skewermmmmmm?eer,.not marinated with a sauce on. However the limited information on the menu did not claim it to be a curry. The other was the same. The chicken was not succulent I would have expected but a little tough. The chappatti ... Which I live was firm.and hard... Not like the light sort chappatti I was expecting.. was like one made some time.before. therefore I didn't eat it. It's a shame they didn't include in the 'groupon' menu details on the ingredients, type of what I can only describe as a sauce. Some may order not knowing what is in it... such as coconut. They should present the 'groupon' menu' along side the main menu which they had on the side in a padded folder style. Our group on voucher see pics.said the value of £44. 20. i lolI would never have paid that for the quality of food we received. I will not be going back ' just in case '. After we had had starters I had.said ,, that was the best Sheek kebab .. mains let it down badly. After the main. ..there didn't seem options for desert ,. coffee.etc... Giving the full menu word.have given a better indication of this. So we had 2 starter 2 main 2 side 1 chapatti and a drink each For £44.20 discounted to £22 It should be 2 starter 2 main 1 side Small wine or half larger etc We paid about £8.70 on top of the voucher which I don't mind doing. Would it have been worth it £44.20(value of meal quoted on voucher)+ £8.70 extras=£52. 90. Had it been a good main. I would have been happy to travel there. But given the main I wouldn't go 5 min. Given good a starter ***

Ordered online for delivery, driver went to the wrong address and called to see no one answering the door ? Informed the driver he was not at my address and asked how long he would be. Driver stated 2 minutes, more like ten minutes. Rang Zulaika to see why this kept happening and that I was not happy. Representative was arranging and stated you won’t be getting a refund ! Great customer service, you will not be receiving my business anymore. On inspection food was cold and disappointing.

Proper gutted, we order from here loads and it’s always lovely. Tonight we got soggy oily food and super salty onion rice! Ruined the whole curry and have thrown majority in the bin 😩 so disappointed ☹️

3 pound for a warm bottled drink, that makes personally attacked since this is a 4.4 star restaurant, charge 8 pound for curry without rice…

Called in on the Groupon offer and I’m so glad we did. The food was so tasty and the best fluffy naan bread I’ve ever tasted. Rogan josh, chicken chat and stuffed pepper were great. Very friendly service and we will definitely be back.

Visited 3 times over 4 weeks, Thurs and Friday evening's. Food fab , great taste and portion. Staff friendly and will dial back heat on a dish when requested. Definitely recommend again and again, oh and again 😊

I only live around the corner so I thought I'd order a take away and pick it up rather than wait for delivery. Despite picking it up and getting home in 5 mins our curries were cold! Clearly they had been reheated as some of the sauce was hot and some completely stone cold. My madras sauce was a bit on the thin side and neither of our curries were freshly made. Not much meat either (I know this is starting to sound like the old joke - the food was rubbish and such small portions!) The rice, onion bhajis, popadoms, and naans were fine - just a real shame the curries were so poor. Waste of money, will not be returning.

Food was ok .the chicken korma curry was too sweet and chicken Rogan Josh had too much colour .my nails went red because of the food colour . Chicken tikka and Shrek kebab were bland. Nan and puloa was good .

We have had a good number of excellent take away meals from here however we stopped ordering as the quality of food became unpredictable, from great one day, to poor the next. Tonight (a monday) ended in the bin. The chicken tikka was so dry it was inedible and the curries chosen were the worst we have had and nothing like the standard kept over the past couple of years. Having had so many good meals over a long period of time it's a real shame that we no longer want to risk further bad nights like this. Its not the first poor meal of late so the standard has definitely dropped. Please understand that when the food is on song you will give it top marks but if its like tonight it's just not worth bothering, sorry.

Fantastic food and the best nan ever

Can't fault the food (Passanda and Malai respectively) and the price of £16.70 for Groupon was extremely good in this day and age. However, the service was slightly surly at the start so I have to knock off one star as a result. Wouldn't mind giving them a go for takeaway though.

We were in a party of 20 at the Kismet last night 11/2 /22 the menu was very good the food and staff were excellent it was very busy which made the space at the tables very cramped apart from that a good night spot on

We ordered a takeaway from the restaurant for Christmas Day. I phoned the order through the day before and arranged a collection time. All the food was delicious. Especially the Barra Chop starter and Chicken Tikka Dhansak. My favourite Indian restaurant for dine in or takeaway. Highly recommend.

I've never been to the restaurant but I regularly order delivery. I've never had a bad meal and the portions are large enough that I can stretch it out to 2-3 days. 5* hygiene rating, excellent quality and excellent service.

A huge thumbs up from me! I'm so full up but my meal was so moreish that I reckon I could try another one 😅 I had saag aloo and garlic rice. Having somehow put the wrong door number on my order, don't ask.. I had to call the shop and change it. The guy answered the phone extremely politely and amended it for me. Lovely people, AMAZING food and fast delivery. Highly recommended 👌
