Cinnamon Tree in Stockport

Had a delivery off Uber eats. Pakora was soggy, rice was cold. Butter chicken tasted like a korma. All in all an awful meal

This is an open and honest review from dining there tonight on 16/03/2024. After arriving at 5pm for opening, the restaurant was not open until 17:15pm. Once inside we were pointed to a table near the window and given the menu. To note the restaurant was freezing the whole time we were there. After 10 minutes we were asked would we like drinks. We ordered two cokes which were served warm and nearly flat. Despite having previously ordered takeaways from here over the years and never had a problem, I purposely chose to dine inside to celebrate my birthday; although this was a huge mistake after tonight’s poor service from the moment we arrived to leaving. After we got the drinks it took a further 15minutes before we were asked to order our food (more waiting around) finally we placed our order and when the starters came out, I had ordered meat samosas and my partner ordered onion bhaji’s. I took one bite into the meat samosa which was stone cold and freezing, which was served to me not cooked throughout. I told the waitress who apologised and took them away. After another 5 minutes they gave me fresh samosas which were pipping hot. In addition portion size is lacking and for the price isn’t worth it for both samosas & onion bhaji’s. Equally, two customers waiting for takeaways were served their food before we had been given are main dishes although, we had been there since opening. Once we finished our starters we waited over 1 hour for our food to come out. Therefore we were just about to leave the restaurant due to the lack of service. The atmosphere was dreadful and they don’t approach your table to ask if you would like drinks or anything, or to address the fact you’ve been in there for over an hour and yet still waiting for food. To add to this terrible experience they then took mine and my partners unfinished drinks of the table, which we had to ask for our drinks back. Which in any other restaurant they would have apologised and given new ones back, not ones which were taken away out of sight. No discounts given for a spoilt birthday meal and all which add to this poor dining experience. I will never order from here again. Especially once the main dishes were served the children korma did not look cooked properly. I will report back if I get food poisoning. If you want to waste money on small portion sizes, no decent atmosphere, terrible service, terrible cold food and have to wait a ridiculous amount of time for your drinks and food, I would think again. This is not the 5 star dining experience expected and doesn’t justify the service I received tonight. Waste of money and shouldn’t have paid. If I could give it NO stars I would have.

Having visited before which was very good found the prices beyond ridiculous it’s not a fancy but very basic restaurant however to pay over 17 pounds for a chicken curry without any drink is way over the top that’s 34 pounds for two people food is ok but not the price or the ambience

I’m very fussy when it comes to good curries. We visited as a group 18/2/24.the food was amazing and at a good value for money. I will be visiting again 😊👍highly recommend

We ate here on New Year’s Eve. The service is poor, the food is cheap and a reflection of the price. The staff are disorganised. The table was not set when we arrived, they had two staff members bringing cutlery and small plates separately. They kept missing one person out every time so we had to keep asking for them. We had to ask them to take our order. The restaurant was not really busy but the two members of staff were serving all tables and without any structure just here there and everywhere. The food was poor, small portion sizes, flavourless and be careful, some of the chicken chewy - two of us were worried we would have food poisoning afterward. We gave feedback to the staff member taking orders as two of us didn’t eat our mains because of the chewy chicken and one of us left part of our food due to lamb being fatty and flavourless. The staff member said “we have not had any complaints before”. The atmosphere in this place is dull. Everything is cheap and we had to go to Tesco express for our soft drinks. I wouldn’t waste your money here - go elsewhere.

My family had booked the whole place for my birthday surprise. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was good too especially the Peshawari naan 🫓

Excellent food and service. The owner courteously greeted and sat us down. We were offered complimentary poppadoms and sauces which was unexpected. I ordered the Lamb Biryani and Meat Samosa which were exquisite. Definitely the best Indian I've had in Manchester, can't go wrong 👍👍.

Nan bread was good but probably one of the WORST curries I have eaten, beer was also flat, maybe I had to pay extra for bubbles and flavour 🤔

I visited their once during my business trip to manchester, this restaurant have many vegetarian options, all tastes good but have a dull atmosphere in comparison to Paradise spice

What can one say about this authentic Restaurant best probaly in the area without doubt Very close to premier inn and station anybody staying there should try the experience One tip never get a taxi from the airport it’s very expensive boarding on insane the train is just there very cheap just 1 stop and no need to hire a care with a massive excess the local station will take you everywhere and yo can get a special yearly card very cheap and get massive rail reductions

I am only posting this as a warning to anyone who goes to this restaurant. Firstly the food was tasty but they are trying to save money with a lack of ingredients and small portions. I ordered w a meal I have regularly at different places, King Prawn Puri and Tandoori mixed grill. There were no king prawns in the Puri and the Mixed grill was like a starter. 2 drinks poppadums starter and main £33 and I left hungry. This is ripping people off!!! Don't go

This was the best Indian meal anyone of us had eaten for a while. Excellent food including a unique house version mint dip for our poppadoms. Friendly service and trail value for money. Highly recommended.

Was staying at a local hotel but did not want to have dinner there.Cinnamon Tree provided the answer. Really delicious fish tikka first course, served sizzling on a metal skillet. Chose biryani as my partner is not a fan and as we always share food when dining together, I always opt for something we can both enjoy.As I was travelling solo on this occasion, I ordered accordingly and enjoyed one of the best “birys” I have eaten.. plenty of succulent lamb and subtly spicy seasoned rice accompanied by a vegetable curry sauce. A large glass of house Merlot aided my digestion. Very reasonably priced dinner and staff who were interested in my comments and feedback. Hope to visit again.

We have been regularly going to the Cinnamon tree for the past four years. The food is always exceptional and the price has barley risen in this time. I always recommend this restaurant to family and friends. Looking forward to our next visit on NYE.

I've not visited for a few years and it was just as good as I remembered. Really good quality food, friendly efficient service. Easy to get to by train bus or car or even on foot! Well recommended. Enjoy!

Fabulous! Just booked on a whim with family from Scotland going on holiday in the morning from Manchester Airport. Excellent food and service, could not fault it! Pay a visit, you will not be disappointed. Food out of this world.

Not cheap, but some of (if not the best) most flavorful Indian food I’ve ever had.

Very good, the special offer menu at 13.95 was very good value for money. My partners glass of wine was corked but they replaced it straight away.

The service was exceptional, the food was beautifully spiced and delicious. Could not fault it. When the bill arrived I realised I wasn’t in London anymore - so cheap. These guys are too modest to recognise they offer a premium service and quality and I wish them all the best. Will be back again very soon

Terable food.... service took forever been twice now and both meals I have sent back to the kitchen chicken like rubber curry very watery and no taste even the onions with the pomps were. A discrace.... Waited 20 mins for a coffee It came look warm never again

This is our 3rd week of ordering a takeaway and we wish we'd found them sooner (recommended to us by a friend) and their food is absolutely delicious, so enjoyable and we look forward to it each week!! Wonderful flavours & spices, we can't highly recommend them enough for you to try it, varied menu with plenty of choices and excellent value for money, what more could you want! Very friendly staff & looking forward to next week already.

I've only recently started going to this restaurant and each time the service has been first class and the food quite exceptional. I had a Reshmi starter simply because I like it. I couldn't fault it. I then had a curry from North India with chilli and garlic. With its blend of higher altitude herbs this was one of the finest Asian dishes I've eaten. And I've eaten it in many places and many towns. Cinnamon Tree delivered all the Covid 19 protection that a restaurant can and I enjoyed a relaxing evening with fantastic food. Well done to all staff.

On arrival was made welcome by owners and all safety regulations were available showed to our table were we placed our order. Food was brought to us in a safe way and as always was to a high standard had a lovely evening and highly recommend to any one to have an evening out at the cinnamon.

Well we book online.was lovely food, great staff.they took detail from you, so they could track add trace..wasn't a busy night so was able to have space between others..the staff wore masksvery enjoyable night out..If it looks busy when you turn up..and your a little warry..don't go in..there's always another night..stay safe..

Called restaurant to book table on the night and was amazed to see it full on arrival - no empty tables at all.Hand sanitizer on table by door - hardly used by patrons.Staff face masks - NOStaff disposable gloves - YESReduced table capacity - NOAsked for contact number / e-mail address - NOPlastic screens - NOIf this is how eating out in August from Mon-Wed is going to be then I would rather pay full price and eat out at the weekend....at least there would be less chance of catching Covid-19!!!It has been a while since we have eaten here but feel the standard is definitely lower. No salad with samosas and onion bhaji dishes and poppadoms stale. Ordinary prawns in King Prawn dish and less chicken in the other dish....mainly sauce!!!Will be interesting to see what the owners response will be and whether improvements will be made going forward.I have eaten out quite a few times at different places and this was the worst establishment for social distancing.

Food good but packed to the rafters. One table had eight people on(couples) didn’t look like from same family and were very noisy. Nothing was said to them and not all staff wore masks

We were in the area for 1 night staying at a local hotel and didn't want to pay expensive hotel price for food. We picked this restaurent due to it being near our accoodation. The night we visited was on Valentines and as we hadn't booked we were hoping the could accommodate the 3 of us. On entering the restaurent we were met with a friendly welcome and there were around 30 other people dining so the restaurant had a good atmosphere.We started with the usual poppodoms and pickle tray and then had Tandoori Chicken and Chicken Chat which were both delicious.For our main we had King prawn buna,lamb persanda and King prawn Dansack all were of the finest quality and couldn't be faulted.The complimentary Baileys at the end is always a nice touch and the free parking at the rear of the property an added bonus.

Chose this restaurant due to the good reviews on here, and it is fairly local to us. We went on a Sunday evening and had the deal menu. When we arrived the restaurant had only four diners seated but they sat us right next to a loud couple, which was not pleasant. By the time we left it was crowded and noisy. The food was okay, but I have had much better. One of our party sent her fish back as it was not properly cooked. She had to sit and watch the rest of us eat as it took ages to come back and she ended up not eating it at all. She said it was not as described on the menu. Also, the promised side dish was one between five and not one each, and we could not choose it. Strangely, all the fizzy drinks were flat. We would not return, and I would not recommend this place. It is worth travelling a little further for a better dining experience all round.

Was recommended this restaurant by friends so booked for New years eve for family meal, and was extremely disappointed, small room, plain decor, Dirty cutlery, long wait for drinks had to ask 4 times for drinks missed off order, starters were delicious but main course a disappointment small portion sizes and lack of spices in curries especially the Madras.

Excellent Meal. Clean restaurant. Lovely staff members. The food was very very tasty and very good value. Would highly recommend.

Staying at Crowne Plaza Manny airport We googled local restaurants as it’s diabolical prices here Taxi cost £6.50 there and the same back The place is spotless and we received a lovely warm welcome Thursday and Sunday deals Starter, main and side for 11.95 The whole meal was faultless as was the wine and customer service 10/10 on everything Lovely shy young lady waitressing If your staying in the area you will not be disappointed with this amazing restaurant Thank you so very much for helping us start our holiday off on the right foot Found ourselves a perfect place to eat next time we fly Top marks!!l

Great easy going visit. Delicious meals for all 4 of us this evening, I wish we were locals so we can come often. Good value and polite service, really good deal available Thursday and Sunday. I feel they deserve to be busier than they seemed tonight. Loved the freebies at the end of the meal, particularly the hot towel! Lovely touch and much appreciated.We will come again when we fly from here and recommend to all.

We visited on the last day of November on a quiet Saturday night, the first thing to impress me was the customer service, really friendly and helpful. We had the set meal for four and both two big lads were full and couldn’t eat any more, so it goes to show you get more than enough. The food was great and hot, and the staff fantastic. It is possibly the best customer service I have ever had, and I have been everywhere, see my other reviews. The food is lovely and service friendly, the only disappointing thing was I only had a tenner to tip him with and god bless him he even popped out to get me change from Tesco’s. I let him keep it.We were so impressed we have booked a table for 8 on New Years Eve, and I will be tipping big. I look forward to a New Years Eve feast. Thank you for a wonderful experience and superb Indian food.

Food and staff absolutely brilliant

The staff at the cinnamon tree are very helpful, kind and understanding as my dad is celiac and they tell him whether he can have the dish he wants or not. The chef's there are also very good and the food is excellent

I don't normally review restaurants, but 4 of us have just had the BEST Indian restaurant experience in years. Staff and food absolutely superb, and the price more than acceptable. Will definitely be visiting again.

Cinnamon Tree is a very comfortable, friendly restaurant in Heald Green. The food was absolutely spot on, the mushroom vindaloo was one of the best I have tried. Would go out of my way to return.

Very good food as always. We visited this restaurant a few times and the food is always delicious but this time was excellent. Everything was tasty and spicy as we like. The service was very good as well.

We used to go to the paradise spice up the road - which is awesome too but tooo spicy - and cinnamon tree food has been consistently, amazingly flavoursome for the last 10 years we’ve been going. The staff are attentive but not too in your face. No, its not salubrious, but if you want an incredibly tasty curry in heald green, pop over to the cinnamon tree. Oh and they give you a towel, orange slice, mint choc and baileys shot to finish. V nice!

I’ve been coming here for some years now although as a visitor to the area probably only 10-12 times a year. The food is top notch. The service friendly, the ambience mellow and the beer always cold and fresh.

Googled closest Indian restaurant to Manchester Airport as were were picking relatives up. The Cinnamon Tree came out nearest. Booked a table online. Was very pleased with the food which was lovely. Good sized portions. Thought it was quite expensive though compared to our local Indian restaurant which is in a nicer setting and has nicer decor. The Cinnamon Tree would benefit from an update particularly the upstairs toiled facilities. Nice friendly Staff however and would go again if the occasion arose.

Been here a few times as it’s probably my favourite Indian restaurant! Small place around 40 covers, very friendly service! Food is incredibly tasty!! They do all the classics plus their own specials! My favourite is the North Indian garlic chilli chicken masala! Everything we’ve had here is top notch! Try the chicken chilli starter and the Bombay aloo as a side! Always dieting but would visit ere more often if I could!

Small simple restaurant, hadnt booked as we were flying out the next morning on holiday and we just wanted something to eat following our journey. Empty when we arrived but within 20 minutes they queuing out of the door waiting for a table. We soon found out why food brilliant, price right and service excellent. If you are flying out from manchester and want beautiful indian food to start your holiday with without the need to get dressed up, this is the place to go. It was 5 mins from premier inn too. Even decided to go over for a weekend to the premier just so we can visit again!

We were staying at an airport hotel at Manchester airport due to an early morning flight. We googled "restaurants near MAN" but only pubs and takeaway places showed on the search. We found Cinnamon Tree last November when we had an early flight out of MAN so we searched for it again and we found it!

It was a quick visit to Cinnamon Indian cuisine tonight. I’m really impressed that it’s not very far from Manchester airport. After checking in the luggage, he fancied some Indian food and the proximity made Cinnamon the perfect place. The starters arrive in a flash and believe the waiters did a good job by bringing out the main meal timely enough for us not to miss the flight without compromising the taste. we were happy we made the right decision

Have been coming here quite often and the food and service has always been good,would recommend it, not as big as Paradise Spice further down in Heald Green but never the less it is very good.

First time we have used the restaurant/takeaway and although the food tasted okay while we were eating it what followed several hours later was herendous, out of a party of 10 I was the only one who had the boiled rice and how I paid for it, food poisoning hit in the early hours of the morning and without going into any detail I was very ill. If you are using this place stay clear of the rice you have been warned

2nd time I have dined here! Both times the food has been exceptional! Small restaurant that I like to refer to as a hidden gem! Both times I have dined it has been 2years apart however anyone flying from Manchester and staying close by I have advised to start their holiday here! We did and we had a heavy night 🍻🥂 but it was fantastic ! Great start to our holiday! Great family run business with true values and authentic great quality Indian food!

Held my 40th birthday party here for around 18 people a mix of kids and adults. It was absolutely superb!! The food was stunning and we were well looked after. The also do a cheaper menu for take out which is equally nice

This restaurant is popular but I don't know why. Maybe there are no alternatives? Tasteless starter. Main course no better.

Lovely staff. Quick service. Amazing offer on a Thursday! £11.95 for so many courses. Wonderful service from the staff who were both polite and friendly anf nothing was too much of an ask. We ordered a mixed kebab and a chicken tikka starter after popadoms. We then had a chicken tikka massala main and rice and naan bread which we shared and ordered chips to go with as an extra. Overall the food was delicious and the service was amazing!

What a disappointment. Read the reviews and they have such a good menu but a very poor meal and service. It was like an Indian faulty towers. Monday night with only one other group of people in and they got two of my dishes wrong. I can cope with that but when the food is poor as well it all adds up to probably the worst curry I’ve ever had and I have at least three a week so I’ve lots to compare against. The waitress couldn’t tell me what meat a “Tandoori Exotic” had in it and made no effort to find out, the Onion Bhajis were stale and thrown on the plate with no sign of any salad and then a long wait until a very disappointing king prawn shashlick. This dish didn’t match up to every other I’ve had, my madras sauce never turned up, my saag bhaji was ok once it replaced the incorrect paneer bhaji and the coconut rice was so buttery is was hardly edible. The chocolate at the end of the meal was the highlight. At the end obtaining a vat receipt was a struggle, you’d think I was the first ever person to have asked for one. All round a wasted evening and not a nice experience. I’ll be visiting the other curry house just down the road in future.

What a shame. This was our first visit to this restaurant and we were both very disappointed with everything. Firstly the bottle of white wine was served warm, we were given a wine cooler but that was warm too so we had to ask for some ice. Gin and Tonic must have been the cheapest gin as it was undrinkable and tasted disgusting. We then ordered our food, Lamb Rosty and Lamb Biryani.Service was not too bad but when our food arrived we were not impressed. Lamb Rosty was just full of bones, we expected one or two bones but not a full dish of bones, so hardly any lamb to eat. The lamb biryani was a strange tasting dish, rice wasn’t fluffy as it is as other restaurants so left balf of it as it wasn’t enjoyable at all. Won’t be returning.

Always a great meal, great service and brilliant with our son. Highly recommended.

This was my second visit to The Cinnamon Tree, having visited first with a couple of friends I then suggested it as a venue for our book evening group. We had a slight hitch that they had no record of our booking but fortunately they were able to accommodate us. The food is excellent I particularly like the Cinnamon Kumbi a tangy citrus chicken starter. Prices are very fair, service is friendly, food is so tasty with lots of herbs without being overpowering. Will definitely be back.

Ate here for the 1st time recently and will definitely be going back! It's only a small restaurant but that makes it all the more cozy and personal.
