Zizzona in Sheffield

I am saddened to be writing this review As my first few experiences with the food at Zizzona have been positive, so much that I have even recommended this take out to family and friends. Unfortunately the most recent time, which has been the first time speaking to a staff member (unsure of which one) on the phone has left a distasteful feeling regarding the place. On Saturday night, I ordered from Zizzona, a pizza for my boyfriend, my grandma and myself. Mine was a chicken, ham & veg pizza. The 3 of our pizzas were all different. A few hours after I ate my pizza, I was struck with projectile vomiting and some other nasty symptoms. This was an awful night. Whilst I couldn’t be sure this was due to food poisoning, there was still a chance due to the timing of it and intensity of the symptoms. Because of this, I messaged Zizzona on instagram on Sunday sharing what happened because it’s important for them to know so that they are extra careful and take the possibility into consideration that it could have been food poisoning. It’s now Tuesday and my message has not been responsed to yet. So tonight I have decided to phone them and very politely & thoughtfully reiterated what I’d said on the message. To my disappointment, the response from the staff member I spoke to contained zero compassion and straight away I was struck with “we are 100% satisfied with our food safety, no one else has given this complaint, we will reply to your instagram message” This response did feel pretty unprofessional especially due to the severity of the situation. The fact I’d come into the conversation saying that I can’t be 100% certain and this still didn’t seem to matter. Instead of addressing my concerns with understanding or empathy, I was met with defensiveness, which left me feeling dismissed. I wasn't expecting an admission of fault, just a thoughtful acknowledgment of my experience and reassurance that the matter would be taken seriously. It’s important to add, I could have quite easily gone straight to write a google review but I chose to contact them, giving them the chance to respond appropriately. If this has been handled in a suitable and professional manner, I would be leaving no review. I truly wanted to continue being a loyal customer, but after this interaction, I am left questioning whether I can trust their level of care and commitment to their customers’ wellbeing. I hope Zizzona takes this feedback on board and improves their approach to customer service in such situations. *For context: instagram message sent Sunday is uploaded. *As per Zizzona’s latest reply: Yes, I received your response on Instagram following our phone call I made tonight. However, this still doesn’t address my concerns adequately. I wasn’t expecting an admission of fault, but I did hope for some acknowledgment that my experience would be taken seriously. Dismissing any possibility of a connection without considering extra precautions or showing any openness to investigate feels unprofessional, especially in matters related to customer safety., I also noticed a similar review on trip advisor from 2022, where a customer reported her daughter becoming violently ill a few hours after consuming a chicken & chorizo pizza from Zizzona. While this was two years ago, had such concerns been fully investigated back then, perhaps this situation could have been prevented. I strongly believe this issue should be handled more carefully.

Only discovered zizzona recently and it's now my go to place for pizza. Always very tasty, fresh ingredients and lovely crust. Not the usual stodgy pizza you get.

I get delivery from here a lot - absolutely excellent pizza. I rate the Diavola. Just a heads up though, there are only 2 tables inside so if you want to dine in plan well in advance!

Ordered for delivery, delivery is always fast and the food is always hot and tasty. The fat chips are to die for! They missed a pot of sauce but came back separately with it, plus extras to say sorry which is super customer service.

Zizzona is probably the best place in Sheffield to order a GF pizza. These guys have got the dough recipe down to a T. I ordered the self-titled Zizzona GF base with extra smoked chicken. I literally couldn’t find any fault with it. 10/10. Prompt service and easy to order online 🍕

I ordered two pizzas for delivery, and in the notes section, I've mentioned that I don't want any cheese and they have accidentally put cheese. Not only did they bring me a new pizza, but they also gave the cheese one for free for my wife. Overall, good service and good pizzas

Very poor quality pizza. Delivery was quick but product was bland, cold, tasteless and overpriced. Don't normally like to leave negative reviews but this was not acceptable.

It's not as all that as people said it would be when it opened. My expectations were sky high because of what it was advertised as. I found it to be very average and over prised.

We've ordered twice in 2 weeks (same order) because they're so tasty. Tonight it was 11 mins from order to delivery, which is spectacular and the quality and taste of the food was still impeccable. Definitely our new fave takeout for pizza. I would 100% recommend.

We Ordered take out via Just Eat for the first time based on the other reviews. It was Very disappointing. The 4 cheese pizza was bland and soggy . The Braesola pizza was cold and soggy . Not cheap either. We Won’t be ordering again

Ordered 2 pizzas and a portion of chips to be delivered. I would have preferred more seasoning on mine (Pollo Ruspante) but it was easy to add my own. Chips came in a pizza box - absolutely huge and delicious! Quick delivery - we’ll order again.

Staying in Sheffield for a few days and randomly chose this pizza place as it had good reviews. I’ve literally just finished their Diavola and had to write a review because I hope these guys stay in business and maintain this quality. Seriously one of the best pizzas I’ve had ever! Proper stone baked with quality toppings. The bread has that thin but slightly chewy texture, with just the right amount of toasting. The mozzarella and two salami hams complement each other but the best is the way the chilli’s burst with flavour, not too hot but you know they’re there. Awesome pizza, give Zizzona a go. I can highly recommend the Diavola.

Did give these a good rating but just found out that they not delivering to my area anymore what the hell when really not that far...slack

We have been coming to Zizzona for a few years now and always had great food. Last night was completely different! Still great service in store but the food was poor. I ordered 1 chicken calzone, 1 Fresca and 1 make your own with chorizo, chicken and courgette. I collected the pizzas and after a short drive home, found that everything was lukewarm (at best) and we had to put them in the oven so we could eat them! The pizzas were extremely sloppy and greasy, leaving huge greasy marks on the oven trays!. We ate them as we were hungry but they were far from the usual standard! The only thing that we ate differently all day was the pizzas. A couple of hours after the pizza, my daughter (she had the chicken and chorizo pizza) was violently ill. The experience was repeated again in the early hours of this morning. It may have been a one off experience but it’s not one I am willing to risk again especially when it cost over £30 for 3 pizza’s.

Beautiful pizzas…..great variety of toppings available. Garlic bread added tomato to it made a lovely tomato garlic bread. 4 pizzas for family….pollo pesto really nice…..they were all nice.

Fantastic pizza, wouldn't go anywhere else!

Delivery time stated 50 mins but it arrived in 25. This was a slight inconvenience as I was balls deep in my missus at the time.

Without a doubt, the best pizza place in Sheffield. Forget Papa John or Dominos, this is proper wood fire pizza and the chips are on a whole level on their own. Plus, you're supporting a local business so it's a win-win!

Had a delivery on the 20th November the delivery driver was clearly in a rush and had definitely left he's customer service skills in the shop he just just dumped the food on the step chips were upside down the bottle rolled of the step which could have smashed into a million pieces. But apart from that massive 👎 the food itself was once again top scrumb 👍 PS the delivery drivers just need to chill out and take there time at the end of the day customer service is key to any business.

Delicious and great service! We ordered over the phone, two pizzas and two lots of the chips with Parmesan- one without cheese as my friend is vegan. They mistakenly put Parmesan on one portion but we didn’t realise until we got home, they were more than happy to do us another one and deliver it too even though we originally collected. They also brought us a drink too. Lovely people serving and really good pizza. Will definitely be ordering again. Thank you!

Despite not being within their delivery range they delivered me the best pizza ever last year and was recconmended to me by my daughter.not being within their delivery area has left me eating to much kfc and indian food which are local to me,Being Italian I suggest everyone tries their wonderful pizzas. We love Zizzona! Ordered from them a few times and each time the pizzas have been excellent - beautiful, fresh ingredients and so tasty. They do gluten free bases which I enjoy. All the sides are really nice too. I can't fault them!

We've ordered from here twice, both times the special instructions have been missed. When we rang up to rectify the situation yesterday, the man at the end of the phone said they were too busy to do anything about it. Very disappointed as he was quite rude. The pizzas we could eat did taste great though. It's a shame we won't be able to order from here again as it's too unreliable if half our party can't eat.

Had our first one from these guys yesterday and it didn't disappoint... Let's hope the Italians on Sunday do disappoint 😃😃⚽️⚽️😀😀

I have the Gluten Free (GF) pizzas and they’re the best i’ve ever had. Really amazing. Strongly recommend here if you are GF and want a treat. The sides are also really great too, the Chips especially! Downsides are: The delivery can be a bit slow, especially at peak times. Not uncommon for it to take 1.5 hours. The GF price! It’s not the cheapest place for pizzas, but when you add GF it’s a £3 supplement (even for the cheaper garlic bread), which i think is excessive. Hopefully they can review that in the near future! Overall it’s great though!

We had 2 calzones and a pizza with the £40 meal deal with included drinks, garlic bread and salads. WOW what a deal and the food was fantastic. keep up the good work

this is the third time we have ordered from Zizzona, after moving into the area. Our first order was amazing, second not so great... but tonight we ordered a pizza and garlic bread.. oh my days. it was raw, we couldn't eat the majority of our order. Phoned Zizzona straight away and spoke to Beth, we asked if they could pick it back up to check how awful it was. we were just offered 50% of our next order.... so we can't eat our meal and are expected to order again for half the price... not good enough because what is the point if you cannot eat your meal

Funny one this; we’ve ordered several times from Zizzona and the pizza’s have always been spot on so much so that our 5 year old, who didn’t like pizza before, now really enjoys it! Last night we didn’t order anything but our neighbours did (across the hall) and the driver accidentally knock on our door think it was for us (Bocking Lane). This guy is such a wonderful person that he had brought a small kinder egg for our daughter that he has met 2 or 3 times before and let her have the egg even though we didn’t order any Pizza.... absolutely fantastic hospitality from a true gentleman! Didn’t get the guy’s name unfortunately but my daughter thinks he’s the best!

Waited ages for what can only be described as a pile of slop to be delivered. Cold, burnt,hardly any cheese. Worst pizzas we've ever seen, or tasted.

Very disappointing ordered a pollo calzone,garlic bread and a pizza..Hardley any chicken with mainly peppers and mushroom and was cold the bolognese sauce wasnt a sufficient amount for the calzone.Garlic bread was very dry and cold as was the pizza.

First order, amazing quality delicious very authentic

Ordered a delivery online of 5 pizzas at 7.45pm on a Friday night. After an hour and 20 minutes, rang the restaurant to chase up how long the pizzas would be and got told “it was a Friday night it’s busy. The pizzas will be going into the oven shortly” poor excuse personally, with no indication as to when the food would be ready. 2 hours later the pizzas finally arrived, no apology for the food taking so long at the door not discount which is understandable during these times but VERY poor customer service. Pizzas arrived hot & were good but won’t be returning in future.

Great pizza restaurant in Woodseats. Fresh ingredients, made to order, and always tasty. Super friendly and helpful staff. There was a slight mix up with the address of my delivery.
