We decided to go for a meal here to celebrate my wife's birthday. We'd never been before but heard good things and we weren't disappointed. The staff were attentive, polite and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The food was really really nice, I had the steak and it was amazing, nice piece of meat and so much sauce! While we were there I also noticed how many regulars most list this place - the atmosphere was great! A resounding 10/10 and we will be back fro more food!

The food was absolutely delightful and perfectly suited to my taste! The staff were incredibly warm and attentive, making me feel right at home. I had a truly wonderful dining experience and can't wait to return!

We were looking to eat out and don't usually venture down Northfield Road after Crookes shopping centre. I'm certainly glad we did and discovered San Lorenzo . Excellent food, friendly service, good busy atmosphere. Will visit again - a very enjoyable dining experience.

There was a lack of ambience and service was a bit cold. We weren’t informed of the specials. No bread, breadsticks or olives offered or asked.Considering the pricing we would’ve expected serviettes instead of paper knapkins. King prawn starter was shelled and would’ve expected it de shelled instead of it squirting everywhere. The bruschetta bread was very plain and lacked any creativity. Penne Alfredo was very nice and rich with some small chunks of chicken. Pizza base is thin crust and would’ve enjoyed a thicker base with more cheese and pepperoni. Desserts were all good. Finally, where are the limoncello’s at the end!

The food is absolutely wonderful! Generous portion sizes and amazing quality. The mussels and lasagna were particularly good. It is also BYOB too.

Booked a table for five of us to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We’d eaten here a number of times previously and it’s always been excellent food. This occasion was no different. Garlic button mushrooms for starters followed by Lasagna. Full of flavour … fantastic ! Wife had Salmon & prawn Tagliatelle. Said it was fabulous. Excellent service from the staff who were friendly and attentive. We’ll be back again soon.

Beautiful food, with great service too, and only 400m from our house... The seafood linguini was to die for...the avocado, crab and prawn starter...not so much. My wife had mushrooms, white sauce with chees - definitely the right choice for a starter and very, very tasty]

We went back, after an initial visit, hoping things would be better. They weren't, it's a bit cramped in there. Also after eating, what we all thought, were small portions, we were enjoying friends company, when we were asked if we could pay our bill as they wanted our table!!! The table next to us, were there before us and like us, had finished their meal and were drinking, the same as us. Having felt being pushed out, if it was the last Italian restaurant available, I would rather stay at home or have fish and chips. At least I would be full. We will never return.

Went for a meal with another couple, I had baked mushrooms in a creamy garlic sauce for starters, spinach and ricotta cannelloni for main and both were delicious. They have a license but also charge corkage if you take your own wine although I thought the advertised £7 was a little steep also a complimentary bowl of bread would have been a nice touch as I've had at times on other places. Lovely place and would definitely go again.

I went here last night (new years eve) with my family. The food was fantastic, the service was perfect, my mother in-law needed help with her walker (which they did without question) they where great with my young daughter, great communication with the staff. Perfect end to 2023. We'll done.

Bad customer service, bad quality food.

I had the seafood linguine. It was delicious, but I only had one king prawn and mussels, so not a wide variety of seafood, which is what I expected. The Funghi Diavola was superb as is the tiramisu (the best I've ever tasted). Just more varied seafood needed please.

Very looks after us every time we come. Good atmosphere, great food and just a pleasant place to eat and pass an evening with good friends. Thank you!

I phoned up to make a booking for three, for last evening, that's the 30th of August 2023....I phoned on Mon the 28th, I think....There was a message saying to leave the number and they would phone back... No call received,so yesterday evening called there to check the booking to find a note in the window to say closed due to holidays... Why on earth was this not within the message on the San Lorenzo message machine ---- very poor ----Get a grip, San Lorenzo

A lovely little restaurant with delicious food and a friendly team of staff. We would definitely go again.

This is our favourite Italian restaurant and have been quite a few times ,however this visit was a bit different...I know everything as gone up in price and I was accepting of the 20% price increase but I didn't expect adjustments in the menu clearly done to cur costs...For the starter we had ribs...delicious but much smaller in portion size,normally 3 decent sized ribs now reduced to 2 smaller ones....We both ordered the chicken with spinach our always choice Normally 2 decent sized chicken breast in a delicious sauce with spinach...what we got this time were two chicken parcels....chicken around the outside with the spinach stuffed inside...yet again a clear cost cutting exercise... I know things are difficult for everyone at this time but doing this will lose regular customers..Sorry for this review but it has to be said

A fabulous restaurant. Everything you want from an Italian restaurant. Would recommend anything on menu all our food was wonderfully presented and great tasting. Goats cheese/mussels and prawns were enjoyed and salmon and sea bass both had lovely crispy skin just excellent. Be aware chocolate pancake was huge, make sure you have room. Definitely need to book as restaurant full from moment we arrived to moment we left.

Generally, delicious menu, well priced and a good selection of tasty food.

The service was personalised. Each of the dishes served were excellent and delicious, portions were large . Good value for money. I would say the chef deserves a special mention for putting his heart and soul into what he dishes out. Right from starters to main and the dessert were out of this world. Will surely visit again with family and friends.

Went for a business meeting early evening quite a few customers already dining. Very friendly service and welcome, food was very good and well presented . I imagine atmosphere is livelier at the weekend. Will definitely be back.

Our first visit and certainly won’t be our last. We were a party of 7 and everybody commented on how good the food was - nibbles, starters and mains. The service was equally as good - polite and efficient, despite me being delayed by 90 minutes due to attending a medical emergency.

Went for an anniversary meal on a Saturday night. The service was excellent. Attentive without being obtrusive. The menu wasn't too large and had a good varied selection. Food was good and served at a good speed with no long waits between courses. The restaurant was a little too noisy for my personal preferences (one particular customer was quite loud which and a knock on effect at all the other tables and made it feel more like a very busy pub) however it was a Saturday night so it might be quieter during the week. The price was more than reasonable and I think I got what I paid for value wise. I would probably try here again midweek next time and hope for less noise.

Sometimes difficult to find somewhere on a Monday. I gave this place a go and was not disappointed. Lovely pizza in a clean restaurant... Quick and friendly service . will definitely return next time in Sheffield

Wonderfully cozy restaurant to have on our doorstep. The staff are so lovely and the food is all excellent - great portion sizes for pasta dishes! The bruschetta is always delicious if you're having a starter. Always look forward to our next visit.

I’ve been to several Italian restaurants in Sheffield but San lorenzos is the best by far, food staff and service always amazing, I highly recommend this place, I always look forward to my next visit

Great food and great service, we cannot fault this place. One of our favourite restaurants in town. Recommend booking as they are nearly always full. Salmon Thermidor is definitely worth a try.

Went to this restaurant on December 10th as a party of five. It was my first time and on recommendation of others in the party. The food is amazing and so fresh and the steaks put a well known steakhouse chain to shame, service was impeccable and you can take your own wine. The only downside for me is the location as it's the other side of the city, but I would be happy to pay the £20 taxi fare to dine here again because it's worth it.

As it was our anniversary we came across this Italian family run Restaurant last minute, and as big fans of Mussels we couldn’t wait to try it. Absolutely delicious and such a warming customer service, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely too. We will surely be back to try out more. Would definitely recommend for any occasion at any time. Thankyou San Lorenzo.

Very small compact place, very loud. Miserable looking staff. Our table still had crumbs all over it. Stay away from the pizzas as me and my girlfriend soon as we left experienced stomach cramps and pains exactly same time. The ham for the pizzas is lunchen meat... the mushrooms were tinned or frozen and they compensate for a lacklustre pizza sauce with unnecessary herbs the chicken was dryer than an old welly. Nothing authentic about it. Do yourself a favour stay in order dominoes for similar price We had the same order at cafe piazza in the city centre for half the price and much better quality.

A really good Italian restaurant. We have never had a meal we haven't really enjoyed. You will not be disappointed. Its not a very big restaurant but its very big on quality of it's food.

My sister and I have frequently eaten at San Lorenzo over the past few years. It’s an independent, authentic Italian restaurant, small but perfectly formed, with a welcoming atmosphere and generous menu. The service and food are excellent and we would highly recommend it. The filet steak is the best I’ve ever tasted and I’m reluctant to order it anywhere else. The restaurant is licensed but you can also take your own wine. Well worth a visit.

Another visit to our favourite place, this restaurant ticks all the right boxes, It's clean with flavoursome food and good portions, friendly staff and reasonable prices. We were a bit astonished about a previous review about how badly they were treated, this doesn't sound like the San Lorenzo that we dine in, there must be another side to the story. My husband is disabled but when ever we visit the restaurant the manager is always at the door to help him in and same again when we are leaving when the taxi arrives.. The fillet steak here is the best in town. The goats cheese starter with marinated pear and walnuts is delicious and so is the avocado with crab and prawn salad. Everything is good that's why we're always stuck for choice.

You would go a long way to find a better fillet of steak and the tiramisu was in a league of its own

This was our first visit to San Lorenzo and I was very pleased with the food. The seafood linguine was the best I've had. The service was excellent and the restaurant had a good vibe. We'll definitely come back. Go try it for yourself!

Had a great meal with wife and kids. The service was great and the food was impeccable. The grilled steak with dolce latte sauce was so good. And the tiramisu tasted as it should, lots of cream and alcohol flowing through it. Would highly recommend. Been to many Italians in Sheffield and this is one of the best

Excellent food 1st class service

Been here for a number of family celebrations now and can't fault this restaurant. Food is superb, service to match. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. If you want great food and a welcoming atmosphere then San Lorenzo is the place.

Lovely family run business. First time I've been today even though I love very near. Went with friends, had the veggie calzone and had a really pleasant evening with friends.

We don't go out for meals frequently, but when we do this place is top of the list. Friendly service, welcomed and remembered by the owner and staff. Brilliant food, can't knock it at all!

We haven’t been to San Lorenzo for a while, for no particular reason other than lockdown and life in general. However we definitely won’t leave it as long before our next visit. The service was prompt and efficient without feeling rushed, the food was amazing, obviously freshly made and plentiful and the place has a great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and will most certainly return in the near future

Food was delicious, however we were booked in at 6.30pm and told immediately after arriving that our table was needed for the next booking at 8.15pm. we were subsequently rushed through the entire meal. Didn't dare order dessert or coffees. Really spoiled it for us,...

We visited here in December for a family birthday and 2 of us were vegan. We worried about if we would be able to find anything suitable to eat but we needn't have worried. The waiter was very friendly and said they could tweak most...

The food was nice but felt rushed to eat our meal. The manage brought our bill and said they had other people coming.

Visited San Lorenzos on a number of occasions during the last 5 years or so. Always excellent! Really nice friendly welcoming staff. Fab menu, lots of choice n special board is good too. Good value and you can take your own wine which is a result although they are licensed. Never disappoints.
