Zizzi - Lincoln in Lincoln

I have taken time to reflect before writing this review. There are several things but the thing that offends me most is that my friend had a random piece of pepperoni in her otherwise lovely fish meal. We made the server aware and he stuck his finger and thumb into the plate of food to remove it - “l’ll get rid of that for you “! I fully accept that had he taken the meal away to the kitchen he would probably done the same but it did not fill be with confidence in the Food Safety training that staff are given - obvious cross contamination issues and hand hygiene issues. Our table was booked for 6.30 and it was 8pm before we were served any food. If we wanted a drink we had to go and find someone to order from. Online orders were definitely prioritised, lots of those being dispatched as soon as the drivers arrived. The food ( apart from the vegan lasagne) was really nice but we were served in dribs and drabs with some of our party being left without food for as long as it took for some to eat theirs. We were offered free drinks as compensation what we actually got was 2teas, 3 coffees and a hot chocolate- the cold drinks were not included. The tea was served with fake cut glass tumblers to drink it out of - an accident waiting to happen pouring hot liquid into glass! The reason given was that they only had one cup. I could have understood that if the place had been full of people drinking tea, but it wasn’t. The sad thing is that having written over 1K words I have yet to mention the food! I could go on and on with bad service comments but I will stop and mention the food because hopefully they will address the service issues ASAP I had crispy belly pork, exactly as described with beautifully cooked vegetables. All of the salad/garnishes on all of the meals were lovely and fresh. The people either side of me had fish and chicken, also lovely with the same vegetables as mine. Pizzas looked yummy too. Would I go again? Maybe a different restaurant in the same chain.

Service was good - just nipped in with a mate for the 2-4-1 cocktails as we passed through. Unfortunately you had to have 2 the same which meant us ordering 2 each (common in most places) i know I shouldn’t have as i was driving and low and behold karma hit back and i was pulled over 30 mins after leaving zizis - i was breathalysed and blew zero!! I thought the cocktails tasted weak and just like juice with no alcohol content - rum forest rum and a different one i can’t remember. The 4 stars are for the barmaid who poured these cocktails and “forgot” to put the alcohol in you saved my ass 😂

I do not like to leave negative reviews, but tonight was a very poor evening. The food was generally very good, but the 120 minute wait for delivery of it was appalling. We were told it was due to it being graduation day and having only two chefs on. The restaurant wasn't even 5% full but still two chefs couldn't produce 8 meals. We were compensated with one free drink but then spotted that the bill had added 25%service charge. What an absolute joke A fish meal arrived with "stray" pepperoni and tea was served in glasses because they only had one mug left. We had asked to have individual bills and were told this would be fine, then received a bill for the total amount, which again took ages to sort. I was really looking forward to an evening stroll around Lincoln as I had been a college student here 37 years ago, but by the time we left it was dark and we were all feeling ready for bed after such a frustrating evening. Zizzi for goodness sake pull your finger out. I know 8 people who will never be back.

Disappointing, first and last time I will eat in this restaurant. An hour to be served a drink and order taken and another hour before the food came. The food in its self was very nice. The service was terrible. My friend is vegetarian and ordered fish, her meal had stray chorizo in it! Tea was served in a tumbler because they had run out of cups? It wasn’t busy, maybe 3 or 4 other tables so good ness knows what it’s like when it’s busy.

Visited here with 2 friends on a weekday evening, so it was really quiet. 2 staff members to 4-6 tables. Food was nice, service was abysmal. There was a young female staff member who just didn’t seem to know what she was doing at all. Then a young male staff member who seemed to mostly be standing round chatting to the chefs. Orders weren’t taken for 30 mins, plates weren’t cleared for 45 mins. She came over to give us something but we had to prompt her to take our glasses and dirty plates. The table next to us almost walked out over how bad it was. They took 20 minutes to prepare 3 drinks, and when I say “prepare” I mean get out a class with ice and some bottles. It took us 30 minutes to get the bill and we all ended up standing up, staring at the male staff member who was chatting to the chefs. All 3 of them looked over at us multiple times and he still didn’t come over. He didn’t even ask us how the meal was. Just the absolute basics weren’t even done. So poor, what a shame cause we usually love it here.

Food good, service poor, waiting a long time for food and overcharged. Toilets filthy, not busy no excuses. Don’t visit

Nice view of the water. Were shown to one of the tables in the window all were unusably rocky. Further in some tables we in a draught from a gap in the window but we found one. We should have left but persevered. The menu was expensive - the drinks in particular. We ordered garlic bread delivered promptly and OK. Lasagne - long wait and it was a bit over microwaved.

Came in for a bite with a friend on Sunday afternoon and was provided with lovely service from Will. He recommended the Meat Sofia pizza and, must I say, it did not disappoint! Hot, fresh and flavourful, 10/10 from me. Team all round great and welcoming, definitely will be returning.

Turned up on valentines day with 5 colleagues and no reservation but seated quite quickly by a very polite young lad who was very capable but also had a great sense of humour. Food was good and didn't take long. Service really was very good by the 2 servers, 1 male & 1 female. Both great at their roles with excellent people skills. Will definitely return!

Too many customers squeezed in to the point where staff were struggling. Music so loud we were unable to have a conversation. Took over half hour to get our drinks and when our starters arrived almost 10 minutes wait for them to bring us our cutlery. Two of our mains were overcooked, one of our mains was not the dish we ordered. Tiny flies were hanging around constantly and one of our drinks arrived with a dead fly inside the glass. Got to be the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. We paid up and left with one meal half eaten and another relatively untouched because it tasted inedible. In reflection I wish we had refused to pay. An awful experience and we will never eat there again. The waiting staff were good but the chef needs sacking to send out the substandard food we got.

AVOID. Place is a rip off. Drinks over priced. Toppings on rustic pizza’s underwhelming and so not generous for £17.00 a pop. Ignored by servers despite being next to server counter. Such a bad experience never go there.

Walked in and was greated fairly quickly. The server asked if we had any allergies.. I said yep cucumber... so he said... I can't give you the free nibbles then as I don't know what's in them. So because of me... my wife and daughter missed out. We were taken to a table and given menus. Then the long wait came. Constantly walked past by the make and female server. Absolutely blanked us. We had chosen all our courses.. sides.. and drinks... a good £80 plus... but we seemed to be invisible. We got up after many minutes... walked slowly to the door... hoping for a last minute... can I help you? But no. The servers looked at us and made no comment. We left... disappointed and the ate elsewhere. Zizzi.. you have a list a regular customer of yours.

Not busy on an early Weds eve, but on confirming an allergy (gluten), we were presented with an allergy folder rather than a bespoke menu. This is unacceptable for a major chain, so we left.

We have visited this restaurant many times before and always had an enjoyable time. However, I do not know what has happened, but this restaurant has really gone downhill. Looking at other reviews many have expressed the same opinion. The staff are very friendly, however we were seated at a dirty table, with food still on the seat, and dirty napkins and food on the floor. This was not a good start. We waited ages for our order to be taken, (we noticed other guests waited ages as well) and it took a long time for the starters to arrive. The restaurant was not particularly busy either. We then had to ask for cutlery for the table. I witnessed a big party asking for cutlery too, and the staff member just plonked them by one guest and they had to hand them out to the other guests themselves. Granted we are not in a fine dining restaurant, but what happened to general restaurant etiquette. No one asked if everything was ok with our starters Our mains then arrived, when our starter plates were still yet to be cleared. The toilets were dirty and looked like they had not been checked for sometime. There were a lot of staff members busy doing nothing. The food we had was served piping hot, but the lack of cleanliness and service really let this restaurant down.

Lovely meal and charming service from Sophia. Very enjoyable experience and would highly recommend. We had lasagne and the ravioli and both were spot on.

We were welcomed and shown to our booth which was very comfortable. It was very busy and the atmosphere was great. We had a lovely meal it was so nice to be able to spend time with our friends and not feel as we were on a conveyor belt. The staff were engaging and attentive. Visited with my family today 16/09/23 service although friendly was very slow and unfortunately my chicken dish was very greasy and tougher than old boots, children’s pizzas were undercooked in the middle and very salty and my wife’s was burnt, ordered childrens dessert with even now 3 hours after getting home I have no idea where they are?? won’t be going back anytime soon looked like the whole place lacked good team leadership and quality control

I’m not one to complain but we were so disappointed with this visit. The food was faultless but the service was terrible. We had a long wait in between each course/ taking orders. I felt the staff did the bare minimum. No one asked if everything was ok with our meal or offered us anymore drinks. I ordered a still Sicilian lemonade and was given a San pelligrino, when I stated this wasn’t what I ordered they said oh sorry we don’t have the drink you wanted. Surely just asking beforehand rather than assuming what I wanted would be easier? I was disappointed when I ordered a caprese salad without onions to be told this isn’t possible as its already made up. I’ve never seen a caprese salad with onions on anyway? We asked for the dessert menu which we were given but waited ages for someone to take our order and gave up in the end and decided to get dessert elsewhere. Therefore we ended up having to go up to the bar to pay as the staff were not being attentive so no chance of asking for the bill. Also I asked if I could have my pizza boxed up to take the remainder home. Usually the pizza gets taken away and the box brought back but not on this occasion. They brought me the box to my table for me to sort! Very disappointed

Very Friendly, helpful staff with a patient sense of humour. After terrible attitude and non service from Prezzo we decided to dine at Zizzi, a few doors down the road. Prezzo had informed us that their ciders were not gluten free, despite them being labelled as such, so before we ordered we asked if Zizzi catered for gluten intolerance and was their ciders gluten free, with a chuckle the waitress confirmed their ciders have always been gluten free. Although the GF menu was limited as with most restaurants, the chef seemed keen to ensure our meal was to the standards he expected to present. The resulting meal was wonderful, certainly better than expected. One thing that I might mention is it was quite a long wait for our food on account of us not being the only Intolerant wierdos in the restaurant but as all GF diners will understand is that to ensure your meal is 'clean' then the time it takes to prepare will take longer. All in all pleasant experience with lovely staff and fabulous food.

We had booked for a table at 6pm and we were sat to our table promptly. Unfortunately we were then told that our food would be a 40 minute wait. We were told that the 40 minute wait was due to a fault with the pizza oven- we completely understood this. Our issues are not with the late food arrival but more with the cleanliness of the establishment and the attitude of the wait staff. Once we were sat, we realised that our table was not cleaned and had dirt and crumbs left over it. When we came to order our drinks we were met with an incredibly rude waitress who leant on the side of our booth and did not smile once. After enquiring about the gluten free menu (which was different to the gluten free menu on the website) we were left with minimal answers as to what was gluten free and what was not. The dishes arrived not as specified in the menu and we felt very let down by the food. Giving this was my parents 50th wedding anniversary I feel very let down by Zizi’s and I hope they can do better. I would hope for some sort of compensation, however I do t think this will happen. Also the lavatories were not up to any cleaning standard. They smelt rotten. After coming to Zizi’s for many years I did not expect this- especially for my parents 50th wedding anniversary, which also coincides with my fathers birthday. I feel so so let down and upset by this. Thank you.

Im really not normally one to complain at all but the meal we had here was absolutely awful! The restaurant itself is a perfect location and it looked really nice but the food was terrible! Drinks took ages as was understaffed, food was awful the pizza was undercooked and raw in the middle, my dish came with the wrong pasta and children’s meals had to be sent back. I’ve been to Zizis in London and it was lovely but safe to say I will never go back to the one in Lincoln and would not recommend at all! Managemt was lovey and did try there best to sort problems but I really think they need a different chef or more training at least also if was really dirty also even my 7 year old commented on how much food and dirt under the tables.

Arrived midweek to what looked a very quiet restaurant, not hugely busy, but waited awhile for food to come. Pizzas were excellent, never had a bad meal yet. Staff friendly but unfortunately couldn’t order a dessert as parking ticket running out due to slow service hence 1 star off, won’t stop us coming back but get more staff!!

We got there at 6:15pm. Ordered drinks at 6:30 which they arrived 15-20 mins later (the prosecco was flat, they took it back and swapped it for another one - TIP: teach your bar staff to know when a drink doesn't look right). We told the waiter we were going to see a movie at 7:40, just making general conversation. Bear in mind he didn't tell us there would be a long wait for food so we ordered the starters and the mains (TIP: teach staff to let people know if the kitchen is too busy and cannot get BOTH courses out in the time frame you just told them you had...(we thought 90 mins would be plenty of time for food, especially because that's how long the table could be booked for!). Time that courses were ordered: 6:45(!!!!), time they came out :7:20ish. In the meanwhile, one of my friends' pizza came out at the same time as the starter so she was the only one with both courses, ridiculous. Safe to say, she didn't want to eat it. We ask how long it'll be for the main as, by that point, it was 7:30pm and he told us they hadn't even started preps for it yet but they'll do it asap. 5 more mins pass and we told him to cancel the order as the movie would have started in 5 mins. Although the waiter was apologetic, there's no much sympathy there because had he told us about the wait, we would have only ordered mains. Slow for drinks, immensely slow for food and 5 "hangry" ladies later... Safe to say, we will not be going back.

Pizzas were very nice but the price has become too expensive. £3.45 for a can of drink and around £17 for a pizza makes this unaffordable for a family, Staff were very pleasant and the food was tasty but just too much for our budget.

Zizi has a great menu but is totally understaffed resulting in long waits, food served at different times and cold meals ( with delays in staff fetching from the pass). The staff are run off their feet but remain cheerful and pleasant. The senior managers need to see how poorly resourced this place is and it’s impact on the few staff that work there.

We were sat at our table at nearly 3pm. We left at 5pm after one of the most shocking services I’ve ever experienced. We waited for around 45 minutes for the starter, then another 45 for the main. The desert (which was clearly just cut from a slab of brownie and cheesecake with some ice cream on the side) took a further 30 minutes. All the while there was many staff stood around looking like they had nothing to do. The male who served us exhibited poor personal hygiene as he had dirty finger nails and had a foul odour about him also. This is not what people want when they are ordering food. What was even more of a slap in the face was a table who walked in ages after us had had their starter and main and had left before we had even got our mains! Something else we have only just noticed was a 10% optional tip automatically put onto the bill which we were completely unaware of. I can not fault the quality of the food as this was lovely, however I don’t think I’d be returning again following this poor service.

We visited tonight and were so impressed. The food was lovely and service was quick, despite being busy. Rob our waiter was absolutely brilliant, what an asset to the company he is!

Can I just say , our night here tonight has been the best of our four nights here. Wish we discovered you on night one Food was AMAZING, and service terrific. Our server was EVE and she's an absolute credit to Zizzis, nothing too much bother and friendly with it .Setting is picturesque beside the water and prices competitive for such good quality . We talked to the next table who also says about quality of food and friendly service If you are looking for great food, service and ambiance ,,, this is where to head . Thank you for making our last night so good

We had a lovely family meal - plenty of delicious gluten free and vegan options available. Staff were really friendly and we felt very happy with the COVID-19 safety measures in place. Will definitely be back again!

Amazing restaurant! We definitely underestimated how nice it would be (as a chain). The staff were all the happiest and kindest staff we have experienced in a long time. Really worth a visit and lovely view of the water too.

I loved how you can watch them cook and the bathroom is impeccably clean I went for Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed my meal however was slightly disappointed by portion sizes for the festival meals lovely staff would definitely go again we were sat directly next to the kitchen so had a lovely smell also

We visited Zizzis Lincoln. We had a super meal with wine other drinks & coffee.Zoltan was our waiter and he was very organised and very pleasant.He made our evening especially as we were celebrating 23 years together.We didn’t tell him this but we really enjoyed our evening.

We visited Zizzi's whilst on an overnight stay in lincoln. The restaurant was just a 3 minute walk from our hotel. We ordered starter, mains and dessert and couldn't find fault with any if them. All 3 were delicious. The lemon sea bass was the best that we've had but found out that it's being taken of the menu in 5 weeks. Big mistake. The pasta meal was also really good. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be visiting a Zizzi restaurant again...hopefully soon.

Me and 11 friends went under the IMPRESSION we would get the 40% discount on UNiDAYS. However, we were lied to! They FORCED us to pay for the Prosecco although we were under the IMPRESSION it was free. We were lied to! It’s unacceptable and I will NEVER come back again!

Mia, our waitress was lovely from start to finish. The food was amazing so all around a really great visit.

We were given a voucher for Christmas by a relative so decided to use it on New Years Eve. We booked for 6 o'clock to avoid the rush. The place was almost empty when we arrived at 5.45. Offered a table we changed it because of the noise and preferred to sit by the entrance to get the fresh air. We were given the menu by the waiter who was very attentive! The food was ok, nothing special and we ordered a bottle of wine too. The bill came to £61.00 but with the voucher reduced by £20.00. I asked for a card from the waiter to enter the experience on Trip Advisor.. He gave us a copy of the Christmas/New Year specials with the details of the restaurant on it. When we arrived home we checked the menu and were very surprised and disappointed that had we been given this menu on arrival we could have had three- courses for £10.00 less than the two-course meal we ordered. We were obviously not happy with this. So the next day we went back and asked to speak to the manager. He was very blase about and said they were very busy even though he hadn't been on duty the night before.I explained that when we arrived the place was almost empty. He also said there was a limited amount of special menus to show the customers even though there was a huge pile on the counter and we were given one when we left!! We will definitely not return. This is underhand practice and not acceptable..

Great for friends to get together and for a nice dinner. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a value for money yet beautiful food.
