Zizzi - Cambridge Bene't Street in Cambridge

TOURIST TRAP! Tourist trap! Good grief. Just left there. One waiter…per 20 tables. Food sizes for kids. NOISEY as hell. Terrible experience.

The food was fantastic. We had pizza and desserts and let me tell you, the honeycomb cheesecake is life. I am definitely coming back. Plus the staff is very lovely. Worth it, I am glad I ate here and you should eat here too!

I’ve dined at Zizzi multiple times and have always had a good experience, but this time was disappointing. The portion control was unacceptable. Usually, the portions are more generous, but this time the pasta serving was noticeably smaller, and the burrata piece was much smaller than what I’ve received before. I also noticed that this branch offers smaller portions compared to the Regent Street branch, which is strange since Zizzi should have a standard portion size across all locations. The food arrived warm but not hot, which was quite disappointing. The only reason I’m giving 3 stars is because of the friendliness of the waiters and the starter we had, which was enjoyable. Hope this was just a one-off issue, but it did affect the overall experience.

Amber’s service is the reason I’m coming back. Her service made the food taste even better.

I have been to Zizzi before and I'm a great fan of their food so I came along with my friends. Today I had one of the most horrible experiences. They were really understaffed and were not able to provide the required service. There was no one to take our orders, the food was cold and the drinks were not up to the mark. A few female staff were rushing to service us but failed. We asked for the general manager several times but he never showed up. I was really ashamed to bring my friends for their first horrible experience at Zizzi. I don't think I will ever take that risk of recommending this restaurant again ever to anyone.

Very disappointed with our visit to Zizzis today. The food was good but the service was appalling, the waiting staff seemed very uninterested despite the restaurant not being very busy. Drinks are usually the first thing to arrive but didn’t come until after the starters. We had to ask three times for cutlery after the starters came and then had to ask for napkins. Surrounding tables weren’t cleared promptly and when our table was cleared, only half of the plates were taken. Overall a very poor service, the worst we have had in any restaurant in a long time.

Utterly chaotic. Service was really slow and disjointed between drinks and food. Lots of pizzas just waiting on the pass. Atmosphere like a children’s playground/zoo

Good evening, I was fascinated by this beautiful place where I found a warm welcome and I tasted various typical dishes of Italian cuisine. I give 5 stars to this place, a real piece of Italy on British soil.

During my stays in Cambridge, I always go to eat in this beautiful restaurant in the city center where it is possible to taste typical traditional Italian dishes. Excellent food quality, excellent service and very kind staff make this restaurant an obligatory stop for all those who want to visit Cambridge.

Pleasant discovery, a bit of "tasty Italy" even when you are away from home!

It has now become a fixed stop in which to dine before or after the theater (it's right next door) Youthful atmosphere and friendly staff.

One of the best meals in our life. A lot of gluten-free food and it is delicious.

I went to Zizzi Benet for the first time and I was very surprised by the quality of the food, being Italian it is nice to find a place where you can feel a bit at home. I was served by Giusy and it was wonderful to be able to speak with her in Italian and she was able to recommend some excellent dishes that chef Darko cooked for me. I was really satisfied, I will definitely come back.

I had a very good time with my friends in zizzi. The atmosphere was pleasant, the staff was attentive, friendly , and the food was amazing, good value for money.

Last Saturday i had an amazing lunch at this restaurant, i was served by Giusy , a lovely lady with great manners and amazing service skills , i am honestly impressed.

Food was good, however for the quality it was a bit pricey and the portion was to small. The Ravioli were not intact when delivered. The service was friendly. Still I would not recommend this establishment

Well-kept furnishings with open kitchen. Very kind staff who looked after us carefully from start to finish. Even though we were in rush hour on a Saturday, the service was very fast.

This Sunday a blonde girl in a black t-shirt served us. Her attitude was horrible for a restaurant. She didn't even look at us in the face and looked at everyone very badly. I don't know who the boss is or who hires people, but I will never go back.

Henry was fabulous and extremely accommodating. He gave excellent recommendations regarding the menu and made the overall experience highly enjoyable. If you want real service with a smile, then find Henry.

Poor service overall. Food presentation could have been better, brought dessert out without a spoon, waited over 5 minutes to get one and in the end had to go to kitchen counter to get one. Asked for the bill, waited ages, others paying that asked after us. In the end had to go to counter to pay. Won't be returning!

Booked a table in advance for pre-show dinner. Had to queue simply because there was no one seating customers. Service quite efficient at first - drinks and main course came quite quickly - but garlic bread was quite burnt so tasted bitter. I had the pasta Ragu which was a little cold on top but ok when stirred, just a little sweet for my tastes and actually not as nice as Tesco Finest ready meal version! Also had a large heel of cheese dropped on the top - obviously the end of the block from shavings and not attractive or edible. Hubby had the chorizo carbonara which was absolutely divine and highly recommended (serious order envy 🤣) We had some time to kill so thought we'd order dessert. Took ages for waiter to notice us sat with empty plates and ages for him to bring a dessert menu when asked. We eventually ordered our desserts but 25 minutes later when they still hadn't arrived we had to leave or we'd have been late for our show (We'd been in the restaurant for an hour and a half at this point and only had 1 course!) How long does it take to put a slice of cheesecake on a plate?! Went to desk to pay, as there was no chance of catching a servers attention, where the very helpful and apologetic staff member removed the desserts from our bill, but it made for quite a stressful end to our experience. The restaurant is desperately under staffed and the staff are not attentive - our waiter passed us numerous times and could see we still hadn't been served but made no effort to help (he only seemed to take orders and bring drinks) and the people on the table next to us had to request cutlery when their food arrived and repeatedly ask for their drinks which eventually turned up halfway through their meal! The person who takes your order is not the person who brings it and the food servers seem to be teenagers with absolutely no people skills who just plonk the plates down and run. Everyone is run off their feet and it all seemed a bit chaotic. Overall a bit of a disappointing and slightly stressful experience, and not cheap. Needs a lot more staff and more attention to customers. Maybe it was just a bad night but I'm not sure we'd return and would hesitate to recommend based on this experience.

Some sort of vip service here guess you pay the staff off, can be in the que with table booked and empty but they'll take people from the back first 😂 Update Asked for water when ordering asked 3 times and came out by the time we finished eating, also been 36 minutes waiting for plates to be collected and order desserts 🎂

Muy poco personal. Mesas sin despejar y vasos sucios cubrían el bar. Servicio lento, tuve que pedir la factura. No tenía nuestra elección de postre, pero solo informado de eso después de nuestra red. No me ofrecieron un segundo trago o preguntaron si la comida estaba bien. Pizza fría debido a la lentitud del servicio. Placas no despejadas entre platos. Cuando nuestro plato fue despejado para dar paso al postre, fue tirado en la mesa de al lado que acababa de ser desocupada. Por último, informé que mi comprobante debería haber sido verificado con mi servidor, por lo que no es válido. Comida bien. No recomiendo.

The good stuff - the food is pretty good, perhaps a little expensive even for Cambridge. The staff were friendly and courteous. The bad stuff - the restaurant is cold, I am not a fan of wearing a coat in doors. My wife ended up in a coat and scarf, and my daughter kept a woolly hat on all meal. The service was initially spot on, but on finishing the main meal we waited 20 mins. We gave up and ordered desert on the app. After another 20 mins I asked if we could get the deserts and they were brought promptly. The restaurant is tired with holes in the plaster work, and does not feel clean.

Habíamos ido a ver a Cenicienta en el teatro Arts y reservamos Zizzi's para las 5 de la tarde, ya que estaba frente al teatro. No habíamos estado en Zizzi's por unos años. El show terminó temprano y así que fuimos temprano. No estaba ocupado. Solo había dos empleados que hacían todo lo posible por servir a todos. Fueron educados y amables, pero inevitablemente las cosas empeoraron a medida que llegó más gente. Mi americano con leche caliente a un lado apareció leche tibia y fría en un vaso. El tiempo de espera para la comida era casi aceptable teniendo en cuenta que los 2 empleados estaban corriendo para apoyar a todos. No había sal o pimienta y solo un cuchillo y tenedor para 3 de nosotros. Mis nietas y mis pizzas estaban bien, pero la comida de pasta de mi esposa no era genial. Mi esposa y yo compartimos un tiramisú que estaba bien. Tenía cupones Tesco Zizzi, pero me dijeron que no se podían usar durante el período de Navidad, lo que resumió una experiencia de comida no particularmente buena. No volveremos a este Zizzi, pero como tenemos vales para usar probaremos el Zizzi en la calle de Regent. ¿Espero que eso sea mejor?

Very slow service. We had to leave. 30 min without any progress. Horrible.

Really disappointing. We arrived at 8:10 (the restaurant closes at 10pm), to a staff member informing us "the pizza chef leaves in 5 minutes, so you gotta order the pizzas NOW". We order the pizzas, which arrive cold (? despite the chef rushing to leave?). Drinks and starters all come after the pizzas (which "had to be ordered NOW"). The bit of the party that wanted things other than pizzas wait for another 30 minutes for their mains. The restaurant is only about 20% busy.. Then, folks at the next table start ordering and receiving a bunch of pizzas, about 45 minutes after we were told the chef is leaving (those guys were already at the table when we arrived?). I asked a waiter and she said they "pre-ordered" (?). Just a really strange, chaotic time. We've been coming here for years and it's really been going downhill. A pity..

Although the food & service were good, we waited for about 45 mins between starter and main (not great when 4 of your party are young kids). When the mains arrived 2 were missing, so had to be reordered. They did come fairly quickly, but looked rushed compared to the others. Other than that, the Tiramisu was still a bit frozen & the Warm Chocolate Melt was cold! I suspect the kitchen was understaffed. Not the worst experience ever, but enough to make me think twice about going back.

Best service Best food We will be back in this restaurant again

The building is stunning and central. The server did ask about allergies which was excellent service. Drinks were served fast, no starters just main and sides. I am a Vegetarian and there are a few options, I went for Pizza. Now it came out cold, I don't mean the toppings, the base was freezing. So I did have to ask for it to be warmed up. At this point it was taken away and returned, warmer but not warm and now with wilted veg and soggy cold base. I can say I have only ever returned the meal once before, we did offer to pay for it, but the server kindly removed it from the bill. What's more annoying is the place was quiet so no excuse. There are so many food options in town, I would find one, and to our lovely server I hope you find a new establishment to work at as you are lost there.

Fui con mi familia ayer. El restaurante estaba bastante vacío. El camarero tomó nuestro pedido y trajo el plato equivocado que mi hijo no quería comer ya que tenía hongos (había pedido una pizza de pepperoni simple). Enviamos de vuelta el pedido, esperamos 10 minutos, solo para recibir el mismo pedido equivocado de nuevo (con chiles eliminados). El camarero desapareció tan rápido que ni siquiera pudimos oponernos. Totalmente deliberado. Hablé con el gerente, a quien no le importaba. Finalmente conseguí la orden correcta para mi hijo otros 15 minutos después, momento en el que todos los demás habían terminado. Finalmente pedimos el postre. Mi hijo pidió helado de vainilla y caramelo. En su lugar le dieron caramelo y limón. Ni siquiera nos molestamos en decir nada en este momento. Acabábamos de tener suficiente. Las cucharas de postre que nos dieron tampoco estaban limpias. Mientras esperábamos nuestra comida, que llevó mucho tiempo, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta lo vacío que estaba el lugar, estábamos viendo las mesas a nuestro alrededor, que también tenían pedidos equivocados, se quejaban de esperar y no creo que nadie se alejara pensando que esto valía la pena el dinero. Para colmo me he estado sintiendo mal de estómago toda la noche y ahora por la mañana. Nunca volvería allí de nuevo. No solo por el terrible servicio, sino también por la crítica que acabo de leer sobre la gente manchando platos sucios en el suelo. Se ajusta perfectamente a nuestra experiencia. Alguien debería investigar esto. No es así como un restaurante debe ser dirigido.

Absolutely disgusting! My wife and I booked a table at Zizzi's, Bene't St, Cambridge prior to attending a show. We were shown to our table which was in front of the open kitchen area and near to the door where the staff enter to take the dirty dishes and cutlery etc. The door was fully open and we could see that all the dirty plates and cutlery were strewn all over the floor in the corridor, some in green 'Tesco delivery style' crates, some on the floor. There was also rubbish on the floor too, looked like a rubbish bag had been split open and the rubbish just left and ignored. Not only was the rubbish in the corridor, it was in the restaurant side and in front of the disabled toilet door which is to the left of the kitchen door. Staff were just walking all over it. We even saw a member of the kitchen staff retrieve a plate or dish from the dirty pile on the floor and take it back to the kitchen.....Needless to say we didn't order any food! When we approached 2 members of staff about the issue, one lied to us stating that there wasn't any plates etc on the floor in the corridor and the other told us it was just and exceptionally busy day!!! The restaurant was nearly empty bar about 4 tables of people. Needless to say we will never eat in a Zizzi's again and will be reporting this to the local authority H&H dept for routine inspections to be carried out!!!

Henry was one of the best servers I’ve had in the four years I’ve been here in the UK. He was very accommodating and professional. The food was good as well but it was Henry who made this visit worth it

Absolutely fabulous place to eat. Upon arrival we were made very welcome by Nikola who was so polite and attentive all evening, a great asset to front of house. As for our food, magnificent from start to finish, the risotto is absolutely superb, the best I have ever had, and the pizza picante. And the raspberry Collins cheesecake is too die for. The restaurant has a great feel and buzz to it, would visit Cambridge again just to eat there.
