Ziya Asian Grill in Manchester

An informal meal with friendly staff and wonderful food. Everything was delicious. We'll spiced and a good price. The pandit puri were delicious.

The main attraction here is the live traditional India music on weekends whilst the food in all honesty is fairly run of the mill.

Stopped off for an afternoon curry on the way to gig in Manchester City centre. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for and the food is top quality. The pistachio chicken on the sharing meat platter was amazing.

Food is best available on the curry mile. Portions a good size. Staff friendly. The eating environment is nice and you can see into the kitchen.

Big gathering friends, venue happy to accommodate with a prior booking. Large menu and helpful staff. Curries are high quality and obviously cooked to order, sides of nan bread are also very good. My only gripe is the portion sizes are perhaps on the smaller side but the food itself is faultless. Highly recommended.

My friends and I made a booking under name Joaquin for a Saturday dinner and food and service was outstanding, curries were so tasting and portions were fair with the price, lamb with Spinach and goan fish, the best ones! Special mention Cristina our waitress , who removed one of the tables to make our dinner more comfortable, she was so attentive with us and professional

I have at least some experience of genuine Indian cuisine, and I am always skeptical about Indian restaurants not in India if nothing else because of the ingredients. This was great, spicy but adjusted to European tastes, and plenty of very tasty things. The green meat with pistache was cutting edge - please try that. Excellent mango lassi. Go for it.

We had lunch in this restaurant on Monday, 11th Sept. The Pappadams were soft and in small pieces. We ordered a Tandoori Chicken and Tandoori King Prawns as Starters and the Tandoori chicken was served on a plate with salad whilst the Tandoori prawns were served in a cocktail glass with some salad. We queried the waitress why both tandoori dishes were not served on a sizzling plate and she responded that this is how they served tandoori dishes. We ordered Chicken Madras and a Lamb curry and only the lamb curry was served. A bottle of Coke was charged at £3.95, which is very expensive. Would not visit this restaurant ever again.

This was our first visit. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Really enjoyed our food. Poppadums were very light and crunchy, dips were lovely.

Starters were tasty, all the curry's had way too much sugar, my lamb ghost was inedible. Tasted of sugar & litle else. I asked to return the dish as daughters butters chicken tasted like sugary passata. Husbands chicken jalfrezi was OK to my palate but chef husband felt his dish was too sugary but by this point we had given up. Waiter resisted me returning the lamb. I had to insist which created an unpleasant atmosphere. We won't return.

We parked on the main road alongside the restaurant which was very convenient as it was raining heavily at the time. Parking is allowed for three hours and is is free which is always a plus for me. The restaurant is very clean and well presented together with a pleasant atmosphere and good service. Staff are efficient and were able to advise on the heat of dishes on the menu. The Menu is not huge compared to some in the area but what we had was excellent quality, ample quantity ,well served and good value for money . Couldn't ask for much more on a wet Wednesday afternoon in Manchester.

Our first intention was to eat at mylahore rusholme, however after we was told it would be an hour que we decided to give it a miss and was told the restaurant opposite named ziya produce great food… when we arrived we was seated within 15 mins, surprisingly despite the competition opposite the staff was really friendly as we told them it was our first visit and they actually did go above& beyond friendly staff and amazing authentic currys would definitely be returning!

Went to visit our daughter who is at University of Manchester. We decided tovisit Ziya after reading some good reviews. It did not disappoint. The food was exceptional and the service was very friendly. It was lovely to be able to watch the chefs work their magic in the open kitchen and smell the incredible mix of spices. We will be back. First time down the famous curry mile of Manchester and not impressed. I was after a top quality curry and eventually settled on here. I had a lamb shank curry with pilau rice and garlic naan. The meat was tender and the spice was just right for me. The bread was crispy and delicious. A couple of nice pints of Cobra were perfect. A nice restaurant with friendly service, would recommend.

I don't know how this restaurant has the star rating it has unless the reviews aren't genuine. I went to Ziya last night and ordered the tempura tiger prawns - description on the menu : "Tiger prawns dipped in tempura batter deep fried & tossed in homemade special Indo-Chinese Sauce'. They were frozen breaded prawns which when you scrapped the bread crumbs off you could not actually discern any prawn.Also ordered a bottle of New Zealand Waddling Duck Sauvignon Blanc (£25.95) - what came was a bottle of Jack Rabbit Pinot Grigio. After sending that back they brought Jack Rabbit Sauvignon blanc. As we wanted a drink we drank that (it's Chilean) we drank that - it wasn't good. They charged us £25.95 for it. The wine we ordered costs circa £12 retail and so I was happy to pay £25.95. Jack Rabbit is around £5.50 and I am not happy to pay £25.95 for a £5.50 bottle of Chilean wine. At no point did they say they didn't have the wine on the menu or tell me how much they were going to charge.When we asked for a jug of tap water we were ask whether we wanted still of sparkling - we said 'tap' again and were scowled at and then ignored. We had to ask someone else about 15 mins later.In addition we were sitting at he back of the restaurant next to the pass. We were looking straight at the section which was sending out the starter platters. They are all precooked and heated in the microwave. None of this is what i expect from a restaurant which describes itself on their website as "delivering an exclusive fine dining experience.All our dishes have been personally created by our Head Chef, together with his team, he has developed a unique menu offering an array of dishes guaranteed to satisfy the most sophisticated pallets and not forgetting the more traditional devotee."Frozen breaded prawns are not a fine dining experience, now were they 'created by our Head chef' - there are many better places in Rusholme. Avoid.

We have visited ZIYA a number of times. It’s a lovely place with a nice modern interior and a light and airy feel. The food is great. We shared butter chicken and lamb biryanis both of which were very tasty. The naan was lovely and soft and perfectly cooked - proper tandoori naan and not those machine cooked ones. Attentive staff and good service. Only quibbles are that the portions are a little on the small side.

We visited the restaurant on 12th August as a family of 3 with a young baby. We had a fantastic experience and were made to feel very welcome. The staff were lovely with our 9 month old daughter and spent lots of time interacting with her and also chatting briefly with us. Service was brilliant and the food was really lovely. We really appreciated the chefs adding extra spice to one of our dishes on request too. I also thoroughly enjoyed the cocktail I had which was a twist on a pina colada. We would highly recommend this restaurant and would visit again if we were to come back to Manchester. Thank you for a fantastic meal.

After reading reviews, thought to give this place a try - as we love searching for little gems that are authentic and remind us of back home! It’s a struggle to find such authentic food anywhere, but this restaurant did not disappoint!! As a Pakistani family, we were in love with how yummy and melt in the mouth the food was! It transported us right back to the streets of Pakistan! Despite MyLahore the competition across the road where we’ve eaten several times, Ziya was perfect in every way! We were stunned by the food! And even on a rainy, busy Saturday evening - we had excellent service - credits to a smiley, lovely waitress called Sneha who did a fabulous job! Would 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for a true feel of indian/Pakistani food - the authenticity is spot on, the place vibrant and relaxed - service fantastic - and food MINDBLOWING!! So happy that I’ve now found my go-to desi restaurant on Wimmy road - and the benefit is it’s halal - so plenty of choices. The starters were fabulous, chilli chicken, indo Chinese choices etc. and the mains even better - Lamb Desi Karai with naan was perfect! Can’t wait to be back again very soon!! Ordered 2 different curries bombay butter chicken and tikka masala, couldnt tell the difference, I think it was easy for the chef to give us both the same meal and pour a little cream on the tikka masala to make it look different.Mushroom pilau was lovely

Had a fantastic meal here. The place itself is great. Our waitress I think her name was Sai, was fantastic, very attentive and couldn't do enough. The food was amazing, even for my fussy daughter. Would definitely recommend.

The service at the Ziya was fabulous from start to finish. At the time of visiting the starters and mains had a buy one and get a second free offer.My wife and I ordered:(1) Trio of Chicken (starter)(2) Amritsari Fish (starter)(3) Bombay Butter Chicken (main curry)(4) Saag Lamb (main curry)(5) Pashweri Naan (sides) (6) Garlic Naan (sides) (7) Ziya Halwa Platter to shareThe best two dishes were (1) and (3). In (1) the Pistachio chicken was phenomenal. The curry (3) was creamy and aromatic with plenty of flavour. As non-drinkers we had mocktails: raspberry virgin mojito and a drink called Indian Summer made from pineapple and orange juices with a rose petal based syrup added with ice. Overall very happy and enjoyed the experience.

Haven't been in Manchesterfor 18 months (obvious reasons) but dinner here was first port of call. Simple meal for one, absolutely delicious, service great, all clean and social-distanced. And embarrassingly cheap. In short, as good as ever. Only one thing - I had some Indian wine elsewhere last year. It was excellent. Why aren't more Indian restaurants serving it??

First time in a restaurant in 2021 due to lockdown and first time at Ziya, I had tried booking at a number of restaurants and Ziya was the only one who took the time to get back to me so have gained a new loyal customer! Staff were very friendly and were even kind enough to warn me about the dish I ordered being on the hot side (VEG KOLHAPURI) but I am used to hot dishes, my friend tried a bit and said it blew her head off but I found it perfectly fine and was delicious and spicy. Also had a couple of glasses of wine and found the atmosphere near the kitchen seeing the chefs kneading the naan dough really relaxing. I might try sitting upstairs next time. We enjoyed a cup of tea after the meal and were not rushed as sometimes happens in other restaurants, we enjoyed a chat and catch up and when we got the bill it was reasonable despite having some large glasses of wine! Got a friendly goodbye from the staff, we will be back! Thanks for a very enjoyable evening.

We ordered food for Christmas today. We always dine at Ziya and we've always found the food delicious. However, today, the kadai paneer was extremely salty. We could barely eat the curry. Hopefully next time it will be amazing as usual 😬

There are numerous reasons as to why I am extremely dissatisfied with the events of my visit to Ziya.Although we did arrive a few minutes late due to traffic (we tried to phone them twice and explain we were stuck in traffic but no one answered the phone) they seemed to have to no record of our booking that was made the night before. We then stood like lemons in the doorway, waiting for the manager to squeeze us in somewhere for at least 15 minutes.We were eventually taken to the top floor to our table. Across the room there was a group of 10-12 middle aged men, almost definitely from different households, being extremely rowdy. We learned later that the men were “friends” with the manager and were having a “party”, this coming directly from one of the men in that group. There was no social distancing involved and no masks were worn when this group were moving around the restaurant. At no point did any of the staff ask that the group wear masks.When the food did arrive, it was cold and came with no cutlery or plates. The plates were dried by a waiter on a table next to us and then passed over to us. No one came to ask if our food was okay, no one asked if we needed more drinks and no one asked if we wanted the bill, it was just presented to us.At this point, we were all quite annoyed. We asked to speak with the manager about a reduction in our bill as we were not satisfied with the service. After explaining our dissatisfaction he proceeded to accuse us of lying about being from the same household, claimed that as we were late we only deserved the table that he could find, that the food was cold because they are busy and that therefore he could make no reduction in the price as it was out of his control. I would also mention that he took his face visor off when talking to us!!I am extremely saddened by my experience at Ziya this evening. I have visited a few times before and loved the food and the staff and would have previously recommended it to family and friends. However after the appalling service and attitude of the manager and his staff as well as the obvious breaking of COVID restrictions for “friends” I will most certainly not be eating there again and will be advising anyone to do the same!!

Booked for a family of 6 for an 18th birthday celebration on Fri 16th and really enjoyed the whole experience.Felt really safe from the moment we walked in, we all had our temp checked and scanned the QR code yet felt really welcome. Good idea with the marking the menu with our orders as well to minimise contact. More importantly the service was still personal, polite and prompt.The menu has some really distinct and different dishes from the average restaurant on curry mile. Also a great range of drinks and we enjoyed some of the cocktails.The food was delicious, my son said his starter was the best chicken he had even tasted, my lamb tikka was so generous in portion and superb quality of meat cooked to perfection (pink inside) and seasoned perfectly.The mains were so tasty, everyone in my family enjoyed them, they were fresh tasting with lovely intense spice flavours that set these dishes apart from most restaurants I have visited on curry mile.As usual we all ordered too much and were provided with foil containers to take our leftovers which we enjoyed again the following day.This restaurant is in a league of its own in an area full of competition for Asian foods. The atmosphere in the restaurant was enhanced by good music, impeccable cleanliness and stylish décor.Really great service from our waitress as well, many thanks everyone, we'll come back again soon!

Curries are amazing! We had 4 curries, two jalfrezi one makhni and one madras. All tasted great, the chicken and lamb were cooked perfectly. The pilau rice was delicious too and a huge portion! Starters were really tasty too we had onion bhajis and samosas which were clearly cooked fresh! Good selections of drinks too and a really nice atmosphere! Will definitely be returning again soon.

It’s been a while since my other half and I have been out to eat and I must say, the food we had was outstanding. The Malai chicken tikka dish really took me by surprise however. It was indeed delicious enough taste.

Hoy en día es raro salir a comer en un lugar donde se sienta cómodo y seguro, donde el personal se ocupa de los clientes, la comida y de ellos mismos. Me controlaron la temperatura en la entrada, lo que ocurre muy raramente, pero es una buena señal de que les importa.La comida está bien, como es habitual en Ziya, y el servicio es relajado pero profesional.Recomendado.

Fui al ziya y fue súper seguro, ¡me tomaron la temperatura, así que no se permitió crona! El personal era agradable y la comida era excelente. La comida llegó muy rápido y las porciones eran grandes, pero el personal fue muy amable y dijo que podíamos prepararlo y llevarlo a casa. lo recomendaría al 100%.

Visité Ziya para la primera noche en 6 meses debido al covid y protegiendo a un pariente anciano - No me puedo quejar de la comida, pero me decepcionó mucho la falta de cuidado del covid - empezó bien con el camarero tomando nuestro pedido inicial con una máscara y la mesa estaba metida PERO el servicio de comida y bebida fue asumido por 2 camareras que no usaban máscaras y estaban incómodamente cerca muchas veces al servir - esto realmente arruinó la experiencia para mí - Me habría ido si la comida no hubiera sido ordenada ya - Es una verdadera lástima que lugares como Ziya estén adoptando un enfoque tan irresponsable de la salud de los clientes y el personal cuando el covid es algo que puede matarlo a usted oa cualquiera de sus amigos y parientes que no tengan suerte, al igual que las docenas de personas que caminan por Rusholme sin máscara, parece que a la mayor parte del mundo simplemente no le importa esto, ¡me parece increíblemente triste! Toda la comida que he probado aquí es muy buena, pero mi favorito es el té de la tarde.Obtienes un masala dosa y un rap estilo pollo al curry con un par de Pani Puri y un desierto de remolacha que no sabe a remolacha en absoluto, se llama Remolacha Halwa. Todo el lote cuesta solo 12. 50 por cabeza y obtienes un par de vasos de Prosecco incluidos.

lovely good great customer service. Really enjoyed my day out with family felt i was well loooked after especially as i went out with my 3 kids and and my 4 month old baby girl who was looked after by the staff really felt at home. Will highly recommend.

We tried this indian restaurant as it was recommended during our visit. I can't fault it from start to finish. Food was amazing and Marcus had recommended the Chicken Chettinad we loved it definitely worth trying. 5*

Cooked, Cooked & Cooked! Nothing worse than going to a restaurant and the food isn’t cooked properly, food here couldn’t have been cooked more to perfection than this! The lamb chops were to die for! Chicken tikka kebabs were astonishing, and the service was outstanding, Marcus the manager made us feel very welcome, and extremely accommodating. After reading a couple of negative reviews, I came to the assumption they were pretty bogus, single reviews, no further reviews, felt like they were out to damage a business. Very disappointing. I loved all my food and had to be rolled out. 5*I took a bite out of my lamb chop, then took the photo to show how well cooked the chops were, tender and outstanding, full of flavour. Thank you Team Ziya.

Great music, excellent service and delicious food. Exquisite menu. The staff were very friendly and the wait time was very reasonable.

Do not visit this restaurant as the customer service is Absolutely appalling. They’ll keep u waiting and they get angry for saying anything. Most staff lack simply communication skills and didn’t really want to be there.

Ziya is our favourite family restaurant and has been for the past 5 years. The food here is absolutely delicious...every single time and that’s why we always always come back! The service is wonderful and the management are fantastic. The food is without a doubt amongst the best Asian food in Manchester. Highly recommended, try it, you will not be disappointed!

We came during the government discount period so it was quite busy but there was lots of space between the tables and the service was good. Very friendly and welcoming staff too. They had throw away menus which you tick for the items you want to order which Is a good system as it will also save time. The lamb chops and the onion bahji were delicious as were the chicken madras and jalfrezi. Lots of sauce and big portions of rice too. Good to have a chilli and garlic naan which not many places do. We should have had chicken tikka as they have huge tandoori ovens here and you can see them cooking, so will try that next time we are in the area because we will definitely return.

Probably worse experience ever - Food was delayed by almost an hour - When I questioned the delayed I was shouted at - No apology just straight out intimidating behavior. In addition to this, the food was cooked to our taste - We requested mild but the food was extra hot. Egg fried rice was missed out from our order - Hyderabadi Biryani was supposed to accompanied with Raita but that was missing as well. Never eat here - the dont deserve anyones custom...

My little princess eats here regularly with her mum so whilst on my fortnightly visit to her from London she recommended we eat here and WOW she has her daddy’s great taste in food it was phenomenal customer care exceptional 100% best Indian food I’ve tasted ( and I’ve eaten loadssss ) will defo be apart of my fortnightly dinner dates with my little princess. Ziya staff I solute you 10/10

Just been for an evening meal with the family. Food was delicious, well presented and plentiful. We were reassured by the safety precautions in place, including having our temperatures taken on entry, staff wearing masks, hand sanitiser. Clean, bright surroundings and very personable staff. We’ll definitely be back.
