New Century in Manchester

Needed a last minute companion ticket sorting for a gig and they were super speedy and helpful, couldn’t have made it easier for me. Shoutout Becky for emailing me back in record time and getting it all sorted and putting my mind at ease. Not easy finding good accessibility services at venues so big up this place.

Great selection of vendors, live music and lots of drinks options. Katsu Curry was great. Would definitely go back.

Amazing sound and lovely venue 🤘

I have not managed to attend a gig here. I was trying to attend the Nadine Shah gig at the end of April. Read up on the accessibility process. Had to jump through hoops and email a copy of the ticket. Nothing. Sent it again and after several days I got a response, everything fine, please purchase a carers ticket which I did. Can you complete an access requirement form which I did. I have now had a response to say they can only accommodate 3 wheelchair users. Not good but already had to jump through hoops for them to tell me this and now I am having to apply for a refund. If you are disabled I would forget it - not accessible at all and shouldnt have to jump through hoops to be told no.

Nice place, I only went for a coffee, the coffee was good the service good too and fast, except the online ordering system. While it worked fine with apple pay on iPhones, on Android it did not work with Google pay, so you had to enter a credit card, which is quite annoying to be the only option and not something I like doing when I am sitting at a place.

One of the best venues I’ve been to for a gig. Excellent space and even has decent air con and a seating section despite the gig only being standing which is really accessible. Awesome selection of drinks and excellent acoustics. I’ll be keeping an eye out for artists playing here so I can come back!

Saw Stephen Sanchez here on 14th February. Great intimate venue with a really good feel. Very close to centre of Manchester. Would definitely recommend as a music venue. Didn’t eat here so can’t comment on the food.

Busy bar qith multiple food outlets, beer was good but expensive, even for manchester city centre. The food from the various outlets/kitchen looked and speed good, and lots of oeople were eating Our visit was just before a gig in new century Hall, great place, small enough to get close, large enough to get a good atmosphere. Standing only.....getting a problem as I age, so it will need to be a good band to get me back, damn knees

Went there, saw Ladytron and went home. Can't comment on the venue really but I had a good evening.

Good food and atmosphere, just lacking dessert options.

Great potential, loved the venue, but let down by its implementation. - You're meant to order food and drink using your phone, but the phone signal inside is poor. - I'd have expected WiFi to get around this issue but couldn't see an open network, and if there was guest WiFi then the password wasn't displayed anywhere obvious. - The mobile site that you use to order isn't intuitive and was difficult to browse and order from different vendors at the same time. - The food choices from each vendor were limited and they closed early on the Thursday I was there. I was adding items to my basket, and when I came to submit the order it said the vendor had since closed! That said, one of the vendor's did allow me to place the order manually and the food was nice ( pizzas ). Don't think I'd go back as there are many more better nearby venues which simply work better (eg New Century).

Absolutely loved Soulwax at New Century. One of my new favourite gig venues. Really nicely run. A sell out that wasn't rammed, and really good sound. The beers were good and the security friendly. Can't wait to go back.

Hands down one of my favourite gig venues. It's got everything. Food and drink beforehand is great (the only thing missing is desserts!) The app service is quick and easy! The venue for Gigs is great and looks stunning. The toilets are immaculate Book gigs based on this venue now

Why stamp me on entry if I can't leave??? I came to century hall for a gig and the cloak room ended up full..Fine not an issue I asked if I could leave because I live round the corner so I could drop my coat off but they refused. So what is the point of the stamp?? Very disappointed.

This place is something different, it has 5or6 different places to eat under one roof, and is very popular, yes it was good.

Went here for a Dorian Electra concert, amazing venue! The downstairs area has lots of really comfortable seating for passing out in and drinks weren't as exorbitant as you'd expect from a concert venue. Didn't eat at all though so I can't speak of the food

Such a great place with a fantastic variety of cuisine. We all tried something different and each dish was excellent.

Walked in and at first glance thought is was a swanky Hotel bar posh, upmarket, clean and not what we were after. However, YES, it's all of those things, except it's not a hotel! Pleasantly surprised. Super friendly staff, dog friendly and has a number of food stations offering sandwiches, burgers, pizza, plant based Asian food and Japanese. Looking forward to eating here another day. We got a New Century stout and Shindigger Mango Unchained. The venue was Manchester’s New Century Hall, a 1,000-capacity space adjacent to New Century House. Designed by Gordon Tait for the Co-Operative Insurance Society in 1962, it played host to major acts such as Hendrix, the Stones, Tina Turner and the Kinks, before becoming an unexpected haven for acid-house parties thrown by local producers A Guy Called Gerald and 808 State. ....more info to be found in an article written by The Independent newspaper. Overall looked a nice place, was a bit chilly inside, tables weren't readily cleared, we had to clear ours. We went for food but some of the options were closed. You can order food via an app but unfortunately the internet is very slow & by the time the order went through the pizza bar closed. Fortunately when we went to the counter & they did honour the order which was good. If they have the option to order food through their app why do these places insist on using passwords & giving you a code to confirm the order & have inadequate internet coverage? It defeats the object of easy ordering.

This is my fav food hall in Manchester city centre, you're way more likely to get a table and the atmosphere is more chilled (you can actually hear your friends). Bar is great and food is good, love the Vietnamese stand!

Expensive drinks before an event. Staff were ok, but not the happiest

Went to a VIP experience with The Darkness. We had a great pizza in the food hall downstairs but there are lots of different food vendors there to choose from and they bring it to your table. App ordering, but the pizza man manually ordered once I had a table number, as I was a newbie. We managed to park very near in the early weekday afternoon in early December. The mixed gender toilets worked well, but check you have loo roll in the dispenser before you sit down!

Went for a gig, in quickly and safely, toilets clean, plenty of staff and quick and reasonably priced drinks. There were some sound issues whilst the act was on stage but other than that it was great.

The bar is in the same room as the stage so you dont have to miss any of the music

Watched the darkness here. Excellent venue. Good staff and 4 pound a pint 😁.

A new gig venue for me and overall it was very good. Could see the band playing very clearly due to their high stage. The only downside was the price of the drinks, it's one of the most expensive venues I've visited.

I love this venue, right by Sadler's Cat, which has great beer but iNC also has decent beer too, it's just pricey (like most venues)! The sound is always top drawer here & from the get go too, rather than from 3 songs into a set. The space is clean & the toilets are good, no huge queues for the bar, plus they'll provide ear buds for free. Parking - I usually park on the Green Quarter side around the industrial Park - free & safe enough for the city. Recommended.

Came here to see Electric Six when their gig got the venue upgraded. Had never been to the venue before. Really nice size and good accessibility. All standing, no seated sections that I saw. Good location, would see more music acts here.

Decent venue with a superb sound system. Would love to see a Heavy band play here to test out the rig! Update 13/12/23 Got my wish with The Darkness playing the venue last night. Sound system did its job with ease however entrance to the venue was slightly chaotic and the venue, capacity of 1300 felt a little bit too packed! Bloody good gig though...love The Darkness 😁

Went for a gig last night, every member of staff from doors to bar etc were fantastic and friendly.

First time in the venue for a gig. It was fantastic really good space and sound. We had to arrange for accessibility access last minute and the team (Georgia) there were extremely helpful. Will look forward to returning in February for Beach Fossils

Great gig venue love the lighting and sound is great but they ran out of draft lager very quickly. Venue should meke sure you have enough on for an event.

Great venue, recommed Sadlers Cat for pre gig drinks

The music venue is impressive, good sound quality and the stage is high so good viewpoints. However queuing down the main exit stairs for the cloakroom is a dangerous setup, it’s not until you get to the bottom that you find out that it is the queue.

Came here for late lunch at business meeting. I had a tarka dhal from spice yard. Really enjoyed it. Lovely creamy lentils. Spice level perfect for midday,. Lots of flavour but easy on the chilli.. Just right.. would definitely visit again.. And would recommend

I went with my friend to watch Electric 6. The show was excellent and the sound quality was loud and clear. I didn't get anything to drink myself but my friend was queuing at the bar for nearly 10 minutes and got herself a can of Red Bull and can of Hooch. My biggest complaint is that the staff were a bit too keen to get everyone out as soon as the music was over. I would come back if there was another band I like and maybe to try some of the food in the food hall. The building itself and the surrounding area looked very nice and well maintained.

We loved the warm welcome, cocktail menu and variety of food on offer in comfortable surroundings - our favourites were the gyozas, sliders and incredible garlic bread. It was easy to order and the food was fresh and piping hot. The espresso martini was wonderful and I can still taste it now - amazing!! I'll be back! 💕✨️

The entry process: queuing, security frisking, being told to go from restaurant to comedy venue via theäe inside entrance then the outside entrance, being told to proceed upstairs but heaving a ribbon block the way. It was all a bit chaotic, better training of staff or even a couple of well placed signs would have really helped

A great choice of food and drinks. There is bound to be something available to suit most tastes. Order and pay from your table using their app and the wonderfully friendly and helpful staff will bring it to you. There are tables outside too that allow you to enjoy the fantastic Manchester weather.

I went to New Century for book signing and enjoy the comfortable atmosphere at the bar and in the pop up restaurant environment. I had a great meal of fish and chips which were amazing. We had some accessibility needs and the venue was amazing in accommodating these.

First time at New Century. Honestly wasn't even aware it was a gig venue! Well organised bars meant no real queues. Oh and the band, Electric Six was awesome.

Great venue, not enough bar staff to cope with the volume of people

Really lovely music venue and food hall. Didn't eat food while I was there but there's a good beer selection and the music venue is lovely, really nicely done inside with cool lighted ceiling. Only downside was the bar to the side of the venue was understaffed and so a but slow. Otherwise great and despite it being a sold out gig the tickets weren't oversold so didn't feel too crowded

Went to see James O'Brien last night. First they keep you outside for ages then inside is as cold as outside. People didn't take their hats and coats for 3hrs.

If you're going to an event close by, get here early and get fed. Lots of choices. No messing around with vibrating drink mats, just pick a table and tell them the number. I've knocked off a star because our Korean Chicken arrived very overcooked (pretty sure dark brown/black is not the right colour for the batter) but I am 99% sure it was a one off. Our show was about to start so I didn't have time to talk to the staff, but hey ho. I will definitely go again with more time to enjoy it.

Great location for drinks and food and a really nice environment. It is however very expensive for drinks (£6.60 for a pint of Madri)- but central Manchester prices generally are!

Absolutely not kids-friendly, bad experience

Amazing venue. Two bars made all the difference. Modern, great lighting, great acoustics. The pricing was fairly reasonable for a gig venue. Helpful staff, supplying water to everyone who was stuck at the front. Someone fainted and the entire team sprung into action incredibly quickly which was very refreshing to see.

This was my first visit to New Century Hall. The first of many hopefully. The sound was brilliant, the bar well-stocked and the staff friendly. The gig was Jockstrap who were in fine form an well worthawatch. The hall itself has a 1970s vibe but has been modernised to make it a great place for gigs. There is a food hall downstairs with a decent bar and a number of venues for a drink nearby.

Lovely venue inside but beer selection is the worst and at £7 very overpriced. We'd got there early to understand running order etc. And once we saw the options for drinking decided to go elsewhere for an hour before returning. But no. They have a No Rentry policy which none of the insecurity team could explain why. It was quite clear though. They just wanted you kept in the overpriced bar to exploit the audience. Or as some would say, their customers. And they didn't tell you this when you checked in. Appalling cynical and dishonest Very unhappy and will have to be an essential band for me to visit again.

Busy place with several food options to choose from plus a bar. We came here for pre gig drinks and enjoyed the buzz of the place.

First time here a few weeks back. Great venue. It’s in a very convenient location, as it’s just behind Victoria station, so easily accessible by train/tram/bus/taxi. Lovely area too, nice square with bars and food next door to the New Century. Very modern inside and a lovely place to be.

Excellent venue sound system and lighting so impressive also staff go above and beyond to help thank you new century also kitchen area very nice little expensive but something different for a change. Keep up the great work xxx

I used to work in this building so soften call in for a post-work pint, like what they've done here.

Lovely venue, well looked after as a disabled customer, the gig area is a really cool space with great sound and lighting and a decent capacity.

Great place to meet, eat and drink. Just disappointed that not all the food vendors were open. Visited on Friday after work so would have thought that everything would have been operating. Pizzas are really good value for money and would probably share it next time.

Pretty venue. Good with accessibility. Just really really really cold. Felt colder than outside in the concert area. Really good lights. Talented light technician and really friendly staff. No complaints except for the temperature.

Went here to see Calexico. Great venue for gigs. Good size, holds around 1,300. Decent sound and atmosphere.

Great venue. Well looked after, good bars and lots of toilets. Would love to go back. Max 800 so fabulous cosy venue for music.

Good vibe drinks priced as you would expect

Stunning music venue. Attended for the first time last week and it may well be my new favourite venue in Manchester.

It wasn't bad, but wasn't great. The staff were really nice, and the drinks were free flowing, but some of the cocktails were a bit rough and the food was average. We attended for bottomless brunch, and I have been to much better value ones before.

First time at the venue to watch The Bluetones. Excellent all round.

Watched Bluetones ...good venue but, as always, cans of beer stupidly expensive.

Street food kitchens on the ground floor are little pricey for what it is. But convenient to have this option when going to a gig upstairs. Good beer selection for a gig venue as well. The gig space upstairs is great. Fantastic sounds quality.

Fantastic venue. 1st time here, seeing The Japanese House in concert. Great atmosphere, lovely new venue, perfect sound. Easy to get to, as right next to Victoria Station
