I had heard a lot about the Racquet Club and the restaurant Ziba, so booked for an evening out for four of us. The building is impressive and I can see why it is popular as a wedding venue. The bar and dining room I think are excellent with a really nice collection of original art in an eclectic mix that for me works well. This has been fitted out to a high standard but I do think the tables and chairs somehow don't fit in the scheme of things, the large open windows are superb. The service was far from impressive which is not really a reflection of the staff members who worked extremely hard all night rather it was a distinct lack of staff and the two staff members dealing with the restaurant and the bar had just far too much to do. The food was extremely good and very well priced. This is a real gem of a place it is slightly off the main area for a night out but it is a great venue. Despite being busy it had a distinct lack of atmosphere and I noticed lots of diners patiently waiting to be served etc keeping a track on the staff so as to catch their attention. Such a shame as this could easily have been an excellent review as the food was excellent and the surroundings superb. I suspect all hands were involved in dealing with the large wedding upstairs hence the lack of attention in the restaurant.

What stood out for me at this restaurant was the excellent service from our Spanish waitress. It made me realise just how rare it is to have professional service along with some humour and attentiveness to our comfort and needs. Other than two of my 'trio of seafood' starter lacking in flavour, everything else my friend and I ate was superbly flavoured. Presentation of all dishes were of a high standard. Lovely building housing this modern restaurant. I will definitely be returning here. I used my taste card where I received 50% of all food. Great value and easy to use. Just let them know when you book that you are using your taste card.

We visited on a Living Social Voucher for £39 3 course meal and prosecco we had been recommended to this restaurant by a friend. The negatives first Lovely chandeliers far too many bulbs needed replacing Door lock broken on one of the ladies toilets Bit chilly on arrival but warmed up. No one took our coats although some people had theirs hung up.The positives now Nice atmosphere although modern tables in older surroundings Food delicious and beautifully presented Allowed red wine instead of prosecco and it was good quality Pleasant staff. Definitely worth a visit although a bit out of centre near Moorfields station

My family and I visited the restaurant on Friday evening. Using a voucher we believed the menu maybe bland and uninspiring. the menu was good and the quality of the food excellent, we would certainly recommend the restaurant to our friends and family.

First class meal. There was no cutting corners given we we had purchased a voucher unlike many other restaurants. Quality of food and service was really good and we would recommend this restaurant. We have booked the private dining experience again for a forthcoming family event.

As nice as the food was and service good we couldn't help thinking we were eating in a canteen of some kind. This is mainly thanks to the tables and chairs which detract from any of the inherent atmosphere the racquet club has to offer. To reiterate the food was off a good standard including a lovely salmon roulade and perfectly cooked steak!

I can recall being told some years ago that the Racquet Club was a good place to have lovely dining experience. With this in mind I checked out their website. Images showing ellegant dining tables, dressed in linent cloths, fine glassware, and subdued suductive lighting, creating a magnificent impression of sublime luxury and sophitication. Wonderful, I thought, this looks delightful. So I booked. On arrival my wife and I were directed to the bar. A large, mostly empty, room with walls lined with a miss match selection of artworks. After 20 minutes we were presented with a menu by a young girl, who speedily disapeared, (no drinks were offered). When we eventually ordered it was suggested that we go straight into the dining room, as 'it would not be long'. My wife paid a quick visit to the ladies room, and from the kitchen area a girl's voice was heard to shout,"Hang on, she's gone to the toilet". (Nice). Entering the dining room were found ourselves sat next to a giant window with no curtains of any type on any of the windows, overlooking an empty, dirty car park. No table cloths what so ever, bright lights, metal edged 'school room' tables complete with deep scratches. All the atmosphere of the moon. The food was ok, but only memorable for the rock hard, dried out potato served with the duck breast. This is a place where the impression is that it is hanging on by its fingernails to keep going. Very sad, as this was probably a fine place to dine years ago.

We visited the Ziba with a Travelzoo voucher, £39 for 2 people, 3 courses, glass of Prosecco each. Always a gamble when you buy these vouchers as to whether you will actually get what you were sold and how staff will treat you. Well....all was good. Good selection for each course from a set menu. The food was fabulous, really tasty with some unusual options, actually we thought it was some of the best we have had. The staff were professional and attentive. We had additional drinks, and coffee which were reasonably priced. Thoroughly enjoyable evening. Have since discovered, mentioned by another reviewer, that Ziba do a similar deal via their website ie £20 per person for 3 course meal, Monday - Friday, which is amazing value. I will definitely be back and would absolutely recommend. Tip: We didn't initially find the venue as it's on a side road off Chapel Street, called Covent Garden look out for the Pig and Whistle pub and it's opposite, limited parking on that road. There is however a pay and display car park behind this street. Make sure you pay at the pay and display your ticket car, as we saw the attendant coming round and checking at 9pm, some people maybe caught out by this!

Visited this restaurant with friends as a birthday celebration. We had taken advantage of a deal from livingsocial.com There were four in our group and we all had a starter, a main, a dessert and a glass of prosecco each. The restaurant is part of The Racquet Club and is a beautiful decorated room-very ornate and grand. There weren't many people in as it was Monday night but this didn't spoil it for us Amy the waitress was excellent and looked after us really well, Very polite, bubbly personality and always smiling and able to enjoy a joke with us.The fact that we were using vouchers didn't matter at all-it made no difference to the kind of service we received or indeed the standard of food. Each meal was delicious and we had no complaints what so ever. We all said that we will return in the future and will not hesitate to recommend Ziba to family and friends.

My partner and I stayed overnight at the Raquet Club in 2008 and I remember thinking that the attached restaurant looked nice so I have returned to it every time I am in Liverpool for work, and I always have an excellent meal without fail. This last trip I went with 8 colleagues on a Friday night. I had booked us in for 8 people and although it took the hostess awhile to seat us with the addition to our party, it was worth the wait - they had prepared a private dining room for us which really elevated the experience. Our food was divine; I had to wait an extra 15 minutes or so for my main, but the staff were extremely apologetic and offered it to me free of charge which really went above and beyond. The wine list is good and the menu is varied enough that everyone will find something that appeals to them.

We went for a midweek meal to take advantage of the offer. The food was absolutely first rate, like masterchef, and the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Lovely old building with high ceilings which marred the atmosphere as it was not full but this was immediately cancelled by the warm smile of our waitress. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we had a couple of bottles of wine and followed up with cocktails at the bar so not so cheap an evening. Can't wait to go again.

We went for dinner. The location is in an old, stylish building on the edge of the commercial quarter, slightly away from the city centre. The restaurant offers a weeknight deal of three courses for £20. There are similar deals available elsewhere in Liverpool. We had drinks in the bar, which is a pleasantly decorated area, and then moved into the restaurant for dinner. This has a good feel to it, with some interesting tapestry type decoration and almost a Renaissance feeling. The food was mixed. We both felt that it improved steadily with each course. The complimentary bread was clearly home made but more cake-like than bread, with what seemed to be a coating of balsamic or something similar which stained the hands. My starter of chicken liver parfait was chilled and so did not taste as good as I suspect it was. My companion had a goats cheese starter which again was chilled and which she said tasted of nothing in particular if she closed her eyes. They would probably have been much better if allowed to warm up before service. However our main courses were both good, and desserts vey good, so we ended on a comparative high. This is not, as another reviewer has suggested, the best restaurant in town.it is however better than average. The atmosphere was pleasant, service very friendly and the food fairly priced. I felt that what we had was overall decent value for £20 a head and I do intend to go back and try it again. I would however suggest that they serve different bread.Trip advisor ratings have nothing between "average" and "very good" but this restaurant in my view occupies the ground between the two. They also do breakfasts and bar snacks as well as lunches.

I took my girlfriend here on her first trip to liverpool. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. The buliding the restaurant is in is very grand and so is the restaurant, has a kind of colonial grandure about it. The food isn't cheap but the quality is high so is priced correctly. The only negative point was it was very quiet when I went so there wasn't much of an atmosphere. It was a horrible rainy night and the wind was whipping off the mersey so that probably kept a lot of people at home.

Steak came cold. Sent back. Came back slightly warmer. Manager said she spoke to the kitchen and didn't really apologise. It totally ruined my wife and my birthday meal. Would have stayed for a pudding but the managerrs and server's attitude was poor. Paid bill in full and look forward to sharing my views on social media. Its only the second time in 45 years I have complained about a meal. Was really looking forward to it too. What a poor experience. After all this the server expected a tip! Really. He asked me what he had done wrong!

Nice cup of coffee thanks! Greeted by Holly who was chatty and took my order with advice when asked for (type of milk used, how many shots). Not a regular at Starbucks but would return. Holly wished me a happy holiday too! This after the the smoothest transit trough the airport ever. Lots to like today at Liverpool JL airport.
