Greek Taverna in Liverpool

Lovely meal again at Greek Taverna. Food is always fresh particularly the meats served with the kebabs. Service staff are always attentive, and food arrives with a smile . Definitely no hesitation in recommending people to try the Greek Taverna , Smithdown Rd. Thanks guys

Awful food and service wasn't much better.

This is the worst greek taverna in the city no were ner like the others greek tavernas on bold street and crosby, the main meals are awful an they say they serve home made chips but not in this one they are frozen ones! Absolutely terrible

The food here was so awful we couldn’t even eat it. The staff couldn’t understand us. The other one in Corby is so much nicer so we come here thinking it would at least be similar but this one is disgusting. The chicken was pre heated and wasn’t done properly would have had food poisoning if we ate it. They need to do something about it because it will give them a bad name. All the produce was not the same it was awful.

Been to every other Greek taverna restaurant in the city and been given the same wonderful standard of food and service but THIS!!! ordered the chicken spinach and was given a bowl of warm thick cream with precooked dry slices of chicken. Chips were not the usual homecooked Greek taverna chips, instead bog standard TURKISH kebab shop chips. The houmous was shop bought and don’t even get me started on the supermarket supreme rola cola there trying to pass off as coke. Will not be visiting again anytime soon and if you’ve been to any of the other establishments, steer clear of this abomination

This was hands down THE worst meal I’ve had in years. As soon as we walked in we could smell grease from a chip pan. Ordered Greek salad to start. There was a half inch of water in the bottom of the bowl. Tomatoes were mushy. Then for my main the fillet steak which came looking like a Wetherspoons special. Cheap chips (not the homemade ones people have shown in their pictures) and crappy onion rings which I didn’t expect, want or eat! The wife got spinach and feta filo pastry’s which were awful. They tasted of Oregano and nothing else. Also a dollop of boiled rice with Red Leicester on top. Hilarious if it hadn’t cost me £55. I have no words for how awful this meal was in relation to its price it really was like a bad Wetherspoons meal.

Ordered via deliveroo. Really poor value . Salad was not a Greek salad , chicken was tough , small portions

Food is way over priced for the standard! Meatballs tasted like they were out of a tin , my beer was flat and the chips weren't even cooked properly, you can get better quality from the takeaways along the road 100%!

Wonderful little gem hidden away amongst the bustle of smithdown road. Popped in with my niece for dinner and had a Wonderful meal. Spicy wings, Hummus, calamari, battered cod and salmon. The homemade chips were stunning and the fish tender. Very good price as well

An friend and I went to this restaurant for a meal after a meeting. I'd fancies a Greek meal for months, this was to be the occasion. We arrived around 16:30, had a Delicious meal with a beer each! I had meatballs with chips and rice, even the chips were delicious! My friend had the stew, Stadia I think it was called. I tasted it, the meat fell apart, so tender. We had a great chat and coffees over the next few hours & left 21:30. The food is excellent! The staff are so lovely!! And the restaurant - which used to be in town: Leece or Hardman St - is really really nice. I will be going back to try other meals, Lamp shank sounds excellent!

I dropped in on spec with my son and daughter for dinner and got invited to a table by a super friendly waitress. The atmosphere was lovely, nicely decorated, low background music so that we could talk comfortably. The food was very tasty, served in generous portions. I had falafels which were beautifully crispy on the outside and the chips were very nice served with salad with a rich dressing.

My wife and I have 2 Greek Restaurants, which we love, for different reasons, but the Greek Taverna surpassed them both. Same friendly atmosphere that Greeks are known for, but the food is out of this world. Try it

The service here is fantastic, the food is even better. It was quite empty when I went which is a shame because they deserve to be packed out.

My friend and I went for dinner on a Monday early January... all the restaurants open had few (if any customers). This was the same for this place, but it didn't matter. The food was incredible, our waitress was attentive and lovely, and the twinkly Christmas lights meant the atmosphere was still warm and inviting despite there being very few people there. Would definitely recommend!

Food is okay at best, nowhere near the same standard as the Greek Taverna in Maghull. Staff were friendly and the service was good but the food wasn’t worth the money, I wouldn’t go back.

Went for lunch at about 1.30 to 2. Not a soul in there. If their was more people then it would of been better. Food was nice. Chicken kebab I thought would come with some nice bread to wrap the chicken in. No sauce with the food. Asked if we wanted sauce when the meal was infront of us Disappointed it didn't come with a sauce or bread as part of the meal. Food reasonably prices. Lovely restaurant. Great staff.

Great place to eat typical Greek food. It offers a wide variety of typical Greek dishes and drinks. I appreciated the quality and cooking of the meat. Good desserts and vegetarian dishes.

Family took my mum for a birthday meal, staff couldn’t have been more helpful and the food was absolutely tremendous.

Went to the Greek taverna last night for a friends birthday and ended up having one of the best meals we’ve ever had. The prices were so reasonable for the amount you got and the food was amazing. Waitresses summer and sammy were so friendly and attentive and they really looked after us and made sure my friend had the best birthday possible. Will definitely be back here soon, thanks for an amazing night!

Fabulous Food & Service couldn't fault it. The kebab was tasty with lots of flavour. We was a party of 20 and where all happy and would recommend to anyone. Cocktails where amazing aswel. 5* all round

Moussaka was cold in the middle so I returned it. Staff apologised. I then waited 10mins for a hot moussaka, my husband in the meantime had nearly finished his meal. The second moussaka was cold! I ate the edges. When the bill arrived they charged full price. I suggested that was inappropriate given most of my meal was inedible. The waitress returned with a £5 voucher! We paid the full bill and left, including leaving the voucher, as we have no intention of returning. Shame about their response.

The food was really delicious. Well prepared and well presented. The service was attentive , but not intrusive and the price very reasonable.

One of the best resturant. Oustanding welcoming by all staff and food is delicious visited 3 times in a week. Big kiss to all staff for big smile and good food.

This was our first visit and I absolutely loved it the food was so authentic I chose Pork Afelia which is my all time favourite greek meal and it was definitely the best i have had outside of Greece or Cyprus, we will certainly be back. The staff were attentive and professional and I really couldn't fault the whole evening well done Greek Taverna 👏

Not up to much at all. Flavours just not what I would expect from Greek food. Didn't taste fresh and over seasoned dishes. All three of us were disappointed and even the draught beer tasted off. Service was OK but not particularly friendly.

Went there for a family meal, have to say that I loved the service, they were very friendly. For my meal I had the spinach salmon and it's to die for! I love the atmosphere and love the food.

Ordered mixed grill for 2 exquisite and great value for money.

First and last time here.up through the night with tummy pains.the meat was not cooked thoroughly as the chops was tough and pink.service of the lady was sot on the only thing i can comment on. If we was asked if the food was ok then i would of explained and showed the problem but i wasent so 🤷 this is why my 1 star reveiw..

Amazing food I ordered the marinated olives, to start with and the salmon and spinach dish it came with a beautiful salad and dressing and the most delicious chips and rice. Huge portions . The decor and cleanliness of the restaurant was immaculate. The staff were very friendly polite and professional. What a delightful experience. Definitely having another meal there soon.

Visited recently on a Monday night and the whole visit was excellent. Very pleasant staff and the food was wonderful with a midweek bonus of forty percent of the food bill. Would certainly recommend this restaurant when you are in Liverpool.

When paying bill was told card machine was down and had been for 2 days. Was not told of this by waitress when ordering. Just had enough cash between 4 of us. Will not be visiting this establishment again.

Over 20 years visiting Christakis and recently very disappointed. Very let down having been lied to, unfortunately I and my family will not be visiting again which is a real shame!

We both ordered afelia it was so dry considering they only serve Greek food we were very disappointed. We got told we should said we wanted extra juices.. It should have been dished up to the correct standard. Got offered a free baclava for one lol

Went for my parents 40th Wedding Anniversary with 28 people... We booked with the owner who said we could have a banquet for £19.95 per person... Which we paid. On looking at the website, the food we got is being advertised at £15 per person. So that's over £100 extra my parents paid.... Food was average when it arrived, but it took over an hour for just some bread to arrive on the table... Certainly not enough for the people on the tables. Drinks were added to people's bills without them ordering or receiving them. Also tried charging £3.50 for a small glass of soda water. The only plus was the belly dancer. Will never book any function here again

Had a fab night on Saturday. What a wonderful little place. It had such a lovely atmosphere and the entertainment was brilliant. When I am next visiting Liverpool I will be back. Had a small issue with a waitress which was quickly dealt with and all other staff rallied round us to compensate. Highly recommended. Thanks
