Best Chinese around, really tasty food and loads of options

Food arrived on time and was beautiful. First time we’ve used Zhen Gardens but will be our go to Chinese from now on 🙌🏼

absolutely awful food, ordered at 8, came at 10! was stone cold, clearly left out all day and gave us the left overs !!! stale and just unedible, would never order again!! not even if i was paid to order just that bad, i would recommend going anywhere else except hel yen, still better somehow

Chips were rock solid and inedible, fried rice started ok and eventually became flavourless mush. All went in the bin

Quality was poor & none of the food was freshly cooked. Chips have been fried at least 4 times. Chicken was clearly sourced as frozen & the curry sauce has never seen a curry just full of oil. Really poor & disappointing especially as was my local

The food was horrific !! My only meal of the day had lead to food poisoning. I ordered chicken fried rice and duck. The rice was very dry and the duck was not cooked. Will not be ordering from here again!!

Do not order from here !!!! Ordered food , said it was on route , an hour later rang to see where food was still on route be there in five minutes , bear in mind we have orders from here and spent a lot of money over time I food never arrived !!! They have taken the money but never got our food ! Contacted today was told it's under new ownership ! As of Friday when we ordered ! Said we can have half price next we order , don't think so I've paid full price for goods we never received! Absolutely disgusting

Ordered waited 2 hours never got the food, called up asking where it was they said the driver was 5 minutes away. Still didn’t arrive 20 minutes after that tried calling they never answered and closed 3 hours no food no answers no nothing

Poor form tonight, hour and a half for a special box and it arrived with no chicken, asked to send photos as proof and still refused to fix their mistake, won't be ordering again, I feel sorry for the 12 year old child they make use the phone, they don't need to be putting up with people complaining about the awful staff here

Don't eat here if you like Chinese and whatever you do don't buy a chow mein, the Noodles are so odd. Such a weird Chinese takeaway.

The restaurant initially told us our food was delivered, but then tried to tell us there was no record of an order and then changed to it'll be delivered in 8 mins. Some people shouldn't work in customer facing role.

When I try out a new Chinese I always order special fried rice so you get a bit of everything. I've worked in health & safety and in enough kitchens to know what spoiled food tastes like. The chicken was off and the beef was off. It smelled off and tastes rotten. I won't order from zhen garden ever again and not should you. Usual cash only tax dodgers!

Always late. Have to ring up at the time you’ve ordered for for them to say it’s just cooking. Then for them to ring you 10/15 mins later to say what was your order.

Had a lot of chineses in my time. Didn’t want to eat at the airport hotel so ordered this slop I think the chips had been left out for weeks and the chow mien was like slop.

The chicken in the chicken balls was rock solid. Ordered the special box (came in a bag) was literally just salt and pepper chips. The Salt and pepper chicken had around 6 pieces in total which were also rock solid and inedible. The only positive was the rice / chips and curry sauce. Won’t order from here again even after calling to try and resolve. Denying any wrongdoing and just said “we’ve had no other complaints tonight”. Well it was only 2 hours into opening so that’s probably why. Not sure how they could get it so wrong. What a waste of £23

My local takeaway. Usually good food however, this evening something went badly wrong. Worst egg fried rice I've ever seen. It was just a container of clumped inedible mush. It tasted awful and was Immediately thrown in the bin. Shame as the other ordered items were very nice. Prices have also shot up and ordered over £26 to get a free bag of prawn crackers! 3*'s as egg fried rice let the meal down.

Great little Take-Away, food always arrives in good time and taste lovely. Will continue to use this place as haven't found a fault with it at all. Always ordered from Just-Eat.

The food was really tasty, and it was delivered on time.

I ordered a meal box. I just got a bag of salt and pepper chips pretty much. The rest was missing. Granted I asked for no wings for and for them to be swapped. But there was nothing else in there but chips.

I've used this chinese many times and it's mostly good. The ladt one I had was so salty, it ruined the food for me. I dont like my food salty. Its a shame as the food has always been good.

Says delivered but hasn’t turned up!! Don’t even wanna give any starts

I ordered at 6:15pm and it said delivery between 7:15pm and 7:35pm, the website showed the food was on its way at 7:15pm and we live 10 mins away. When it hadn't arrived by 8pm I called and was told it was with the driver and would be 15 mins, 30 mins later it still hadn't arrived so called again to be told it would be "probably" be 5 mins, the guy on the phone was quite rude and no apology from either the restaurant or the driver when he finally showed up at 8:40pm with cold food.

Delivery took 3 hours, after the staff and owner telling us it was 10 mins away each time we rang. When the food came, we received a dessicated and horrific peice of duck, looked as if it had been left to rot in the sun for weeks. The food tasted appalling, like old oil and vinegar, and was cold. I have been to many chinese' in my life, and this was the worst of all time. I would recommend no one to ever ever give this place your money, you'd be better off eating roadkill.

Food was delivered early. But all the food was cold and the chips and rice were almost dry and stale. Tried to call the restaurant but no answer on all 3 occasions couldn’t drive back as it was delivered and we were staying in hotel.

First time ordered from here, amazing. Delivered and food was great. Just tried to order again and rejected with no reason why they can’t fulfil this order. If the restaurant is no longer servicing the postcode, please update the app, not overly impressed with this.

This place used to be amazing, but it’s now cash only and I think it’s teamed up the Chinese next door. It’s ok, but I would go to the golden dragon in Shardlow as it’s significantly better. The service is good as it’s always friendly, but other than that, I’d go somewhere else. Fine for a bog std takeaway.

The Pancake Roll was over cooked and was burnt. I have this regularly and I have never received one so burnt before!

Disappointed normally good but tonight the noodles tasted burnt abs the chicken balls were rock hard and swimming in Grease also ordered a drink with the meal and never showed up

Normally get good food but recently noticed it’s going downhill. Tonight’s food was awful. Over cooked, dry and cooked something different as it was that bad.

Very quick service- ready within 10mins of ordering. Very good sized portions and very good value for money.

The food is horrible don't water your money

Had a mix up last time we ordered in March. Spoke to a young man called Brandon and was promised we could have the item on next order. Today I rang and promise fulfilled and complilentary prawn crackers. Delivery man nice too Thank you

Young man on counter was polite and funny. Singapore rice noodles were the best I have had in a while. Chips needed seasoning but thats a personal preference. We were at a hotel so didn't have access to our own and sure that the takeaway would have obliged if we had asked. But asking us would have been a nice improvement. Crispy chilli beef was different from what I usually receive at other Chinese places but interesting. Standard pricing for a Chinese. Cash only on my visit. Parking on-street.

I ordered from here tonight, the food I received was cold so I called up to inform them. The man I spoke to said he would replace the food and when the driver came back I needed to give the original food back!!! Very very strange request but I did this anyway. Second time lucky went to eat my food (which was hot this time) only to find that they had sent the wrong food!! I called back to explain and the lady I spoke to was the rudest I have ever encountered! She was shouting at me telling me it was my fault and that I was now banned from ordering again and put the phone down on me!! I only ordered 1 dish, 1 chips and a can of coke!! Wasn’t exactly the biggest order! So even though I can’t order again, I wouldn’t choose to anyway!

Messed my order no apology and no regard for customers this woman has a massive chip on her shoulder and wouldn’t even offer prawn crackers for apology - food is bland cost has shot up and the potions are less worst Chinese I have ever been to and the worst human being I’ve ever met in my life

Ordered from here in advance (3 hours) then they text me half hour before it’s due to arrive and tell me THAT I CANCELLED THE ORDER AND I DIDNT. Absolutely disgraceful , avoid this place at all costs I guess they couldn’t be bothered, only now I have to order elsewhere and the rest of my family have their food.

I left a review 4 years ago saying howe bad it was, i thought today i will give them another shot see if they got better. it has got SO MUCH worst. food was absolutely disgusting, tasted like very old oil with very cheap ingredients. my children and dog wouldnt eat it and they eat anything. myself and partner threw up less than 30mins after eating only 5% of the meal the bin ate the rest. i dont like to criticise peoples work but this has been going on too long and if you read this you have to look into ways to improve. i loved zhen gardens food 5 or so years ago, im not sure what happened but its a hard fall from what it once was. i think its safe to say i wont wont give your restaurant a 6th try even after another 5 years. i gave you time and another try. the image is the food wasted to the bin. as you can see. its pretty much all of it. 1 star because i cant give 0.

If salt and pepper chicken is your go-to, don't get it from here. It's just seasoned overcooked batter, barely any chicken in at all. Special fried rice was lovely, no complaints. All in all, overpriced and won't be returning.
