The Big Fish in North West Leicestershire

I was lied to about my delivery and it’s where abouts. I was told it had left but it took an hour to arrive when it’s 10mins away. Food was cold and ruined. Staff are liars and ignorant

I ordered 12 Nuggets, and received 6. I called up, they apologised

Ordered at 4pm to be delivered asap. Advertised as opening at 4:30pm delivery was 6pm.

Order came very fast piping hot very tasty food. Would definitely use again if in the area.

Honestly it was dismal. The chips were passable, a bit soggy but I like them like that. The fish was terrible. Wafer thin haddock and skin in a greasy thick batter. Inedible to be honest. I feel bad for kegworth if this is all you have. I was passing between meetings and was hungry so had little choice, I usually walk when I see a chippy with Asian staff as in my pretty extensive experience the quality of fish and chips from Asian owned places is bad. I don’t know why this is as it’s pretty easy to do, compared to Asian food. Anyway, it was expensive too but the portion size was ok. The peas were watery and tasteless. Will 100% never go back. Terrible

Amazing food and was so hot. A lot of chips for one person. It was so nice I pigged out so much but it beat me in the end.

A little bit late but traditional chicken curry is worth waiting for.

We always use this fish and chip shop. The food is always nice, lovely big portion of chips and fish is always fresh. Very nice food.

Very poor quality food,,, half cooked chips and a very greasy kebab,,, VERY greasy,, dripping out of the paper, very poor food,,,, and a long wait for it !!!!! Iv also heard locals wait upto 25 minutes queuing for food! Not worth one star !

Good hot food , nice portion size and ok price

ordered food at 17.29 received it at 19.30 received and some of the order was missing.

We actually live around the corner it took about an hour to be delivered, apparently the fish are all the same size so why pay more for a regular fish if your only going to get the same as you would pay for a mini fish, the scampi’s was overcooked that much it didn’t have anything in the middle the chips where cold, they blamed it on the traffick lol Never Never Never again thank god we have another chip shop to use, disguting service no wonder it is empty

Awful..service was condescending from a young woman who simply loved herself. Fish was undercooked and full of soggy batter and oil. Chips were just as bad....never again for me second time.e I've been a d second time same service and food. Not recommended 😕

The most delicious home made chicken curry and nam bread. Perfectly cooked, very flavoursome, and suitable for all palettes. Highly recommend 👌

Probably one of the best kebabs I've had for a while but spoiled by the fact that we asked for the sauces separately and paid extra meant my wife couldn't eat it also £3 50 for a small chips that were of poor quality why not half the size and cook better

When all the chippies in Matlock Bath do mini fish, chips and peas for a fiver and they are fresh, tasty and prepared in seconds, I fail to see how this dump describes itself as a fish and chip shop? 25 minute wait for a £17 fish that was dry, small and frankly inedible along with dry scabby little shards of potatoes (I can’t bring myself to describe them as chips), a small gravy and small congealed curry. Absolutely disgusting food, expensive and terrible service so I suggest you go elsewhere to avoid dissapointment.

Had a kebab from here today. More expensive yes. However the nan bread was fantastic. The doner and chicken meat was so tasty . Quality of the meat was great. Honestly i enjoyed so much. Worth every penny . The portions were good also.it was that good it was the highlight of my day.will be going back. Thanks

Food arrived cold, when contacting the place, they doubted this was even possible. They refused to offer any sort of refund and their only response was “you must be wrong, it can’t be cold”. Baffling customer service, won’t be using this place ever again.

Absolute joke. £4.50 for a standard tray of curry sauce and chips. £6 with a can. And average at best. Most ironic thing. It’s was on the deals board. Only deal I see is a bad deal for the customers

the food was inedible, barely room temperature chicken kebab so much sauce that the Nan was completely soaking wet and slimy,.same issue with the cheese burger, way too much sauce and cold. the fish bites tasted like they had been handled by whoever made the kebab, at least I had a Pepsi to wash the taste out of my mouth. submitted refund request because the quality is abysmal. genuinely disappointed having ordered before and received good quality fish and chips, the driver was pleasant.

Waited 1 and half hours for food, had to ring 3 times . Closed at 9pm still waiting for them to eventually bring my food I ordered, plus left overs as extra to say sorry!

as per usual the food was lovely, fish was cooked to perfection, chips were absolutely lovely, chicken burger was great, unfortunately the battered sausage was very soggy, still loved it all and will always order from Big Fish, always top service

One of the best fish and chip shops I've been to, great value for money and what I've had so far has been excellent. The fish is very fresh with crispy batter.

No salt and vinegar on the fish or the chips. Fish batter was flat. But no bones in the fish. Too many chips in small portion but cost £5. Not worth the money 😕

Inedible! It was so greasy I could re fry the chips in the grease. It was soggy and just disappointing. The doner was weirdly spicy too and just put me and my partner off our meal. Big fish was the only takeaway we went to but I just don’t know what happened

Awful, people were so rude, got our order wrong, and then when we returned they were rude about it and charged us extra £3 for 2 naan breads that we shouldve got with original order if they didnt mess it up, I get making mistakes but charging extra for their mistake and being rude about it makes no sense, not worth the price as it is extremely overpriced as well.

Turned up 2 hours after order was placed and when it turned up it was soggy and warm.

I ordered food for 5:45 in the evening it took an hour to arrive and the place is a 10 min walk away I ordered becuase I couldn't get to the building but it should not have taken an hour to get a 2 minute drive

Disgusting! 🤮 Paid £28 for 2 pizzas and a garlic bread Had to ask the assistant to put the pizzas back in the oven as they were barely cooked, to then get them back burnt on the bottom, and still uncooked on top Put them in the oven once we got home but was still gross, bland, and went in the bin! What a waste….. definitely won’t be going there again!

Usually a really good meal from here but was disappointed tonight. Half the food came cold, fish cake bites were just dry bits of fried fish and the curry sauce no where near thick enough to stay on a chip.

Delivery was nearly an hour late, shop staff wouldn’t answer the phone, they pick up the receiver and then put it straight down, 10 attempts were made over an hour and a half to try and get an answer. Very rude, very unprofessional. Will not eat here again.

Has chippie changed owners seems something has changed ordered for a set time they don’t start doing your order till you are at front of the queue very slow what’s point of asking for a time . Food very greasy the last twice thought at first time was one off but NOPE indigestion for sure

Friend I ordered with was blocked on food hub after leaving her review, which is hilarious as she definitely wouldn't have been ordering from them again when the food wasnt good and they didn't even bother to apologise

Constantly lied to all night, took over 1 and a half hours for the cold food to arrive. By the time food arrived half the people the order was for had to leave.Takeaway refused to even apologise or compensate. Luckily ordered through food hub who gave me a voucher. Will never order from The Big Fish again. Also pizza was awful, tasted of nothing, wasn't real cheese used.

Sorry to say chips were cold, ordered gravy got curry sauce. Very scimy Porton chips ordered large portion. Used them before and it's been good but not tonight

Had delivery last night of fish and chips and all I can say is the fish was disgusting I ended up giving it to the dog, it was dry the batter was like rubber and it was tasteless, use to be so nice from there

Passing through as not from the area, we ordered 2 portions of fish and chips, batter was overdone rubbery and dry, we ordered cod, but ended up with resembled sole, not the other type of fish, but the ones you buy for your lining the shoes for your feet when working all day. Overpriced, sorry but last time we will eat there. 1 star. Just my own experience but terrible.

May sound daft but your portions of chips are too big, when ordering for 1 always end up wasting chips, even tried ordering a chip cob to hopefully get less chips, nope, cob and huge portion of chips arrived. Please put single portion on your menu because regular and chip cob are too much. Fish was huge (yum) all in all lovely quality, but too much food for one person.

The delivery driver was very friendly

had a missing steak pie when the driver drop off my food. took an long time to get in touch with the first time they said they well send me one out. one hour later still no pie. rang up again and was tolled they where to busy to send me what i had paid for, i was tolled i could not have it refund.

Food arrived lukewarm. Pizza and pie were very soggy. Still tasted ok but would pick up next time not have delivered even if it's a 5 min journey. Little disappointed.

Initial impressions were not good however I was passing through the area and not much choice. It's run down and grubby. Despite this I ordered a fish and chips with curry sauce. The fish was cooked "fresh" so I didn't mind waiting. What I received was really foul. The worst fish and chips I have ever had in all my 32 years. As the previous poster said, the fish had a strange mushy texture and didn't taste right or nice. The chips looked undercooked and tasted that way too. I had to throw it in the bin it was that bad and I never waste food. My colleague ordered a fish butty and this was presented in a seeded burger bun and he was asked if he wanted salad and sauce with it!! All in all - ABYSMAL.

I ordered the big fish SPECIAL pizza purposely because it had no pork products on it I am a practicing Muslim pork is halal. I then added jalapeño as an extra topping, this pizza arrived cold with horrible sausage on it I only noticed after taking a bite and feeling an unexpected texture in my mouth I couldn’t believe it it was all over the pizza and best thing about it they was no jalapeño. Gutted and disgusted . No communication either. Won’t be using again.

Unfortunately this time not so good . Sent an empty box without the fish. Rang them and they did send the driver again but unfortunately the rest of the meal was then cold and the fish was over cooked and no apology
